My SSS-Rank Dungeon: Reborn In A Reverse World
Chapter 68: Privileged And Spoiled
CHAPTER 68: PRIVILEGED AND SPOILED
In the morning, Leon woke up refreshed. Even though he could still feel the lingering effects of that terrible pain, he had already gotten the hang of ignoring it.
The pain would only make his mood worse, so he didn’t even bother thinking about it. What he focused on was the fact that he had actually injured the Mosspounder.
Leon knew that if he were slightly stronger, he might have a high chance of killing the monster. As a Level 12, the fact that he had managed to push a Level 19 monster like the Mosspounder into a berserker state showed just how much he had improved.
He was incredibly proud of that, but it also made him a little depressed since he still couldn’t take his revenge. He would have to wait and hunt more monsters before he could fight the Mosspounder again.
The outcome would remain the same until then.
As he was mulling over his thoughts, just like he usually did after waking up, he didn’t realise that he was actually sleeping while holding a hand.
"What are you thinking about so much right after waking up?"
Only when he heard the familiar voice of Amber did he snap out of his daze and raise his head to look at her. She was wearing purple pajamas, which certainly looked very cute on her.
Her usual wild, reckless look was nowhere to be seen, making her look like a truly cute foxy girl.
"What are you looking at?" Amber asked in confusion.
"I’m just wondering if anyone has told you that it’s rude and creepy to enter a boy’s room like this. It’s even creepier if you sneak inside in the dark of night," Leon spoke with an innocent look, which made even Amber feel guilty for a moment.
But then she knocked on his head lightly and snorted, "Don’t act innocent in front of me. You can never fool me with your dramatic act."
"Yeah, but what I said is true. Why are you here?" Leon asked, though he didn’t really care about her entering his room.
His mentality was still that of his previous life, and he also trusted Amber. The fact that he allowed her to sleep in the same house as his mother showed that clearly.
"You don’t remember what happened last night?" Amber asked.
"I never want to remember what happened at night," Leon groaned in frustration.
Amber understood his meaning and could see that he didn’t really want to talk about it, so she didn’t persist and simply said, "Then get ready. We’ll be going to the Patent Office after breakfast, if you’re okay with it."
"I am completely fine, so I’ll go to the Patent Office," Leon said and stood up.
Amber nodded and began to walk towards the door. Before she stepped out, she turned around and asked, "Is it worth it?"
Leon smiled at her words and said, "I have it much easier than others. Pain is something nobody can avoid if they want to get stronger, but I’m at least not dying out in the Primordial Expanse to level up. You should understand how privileged I am with this."
Amber couldn’t argue with his logic. Indeed, pain was like an old friend to everyone who dared to venture into the Corrupted Lands known as the Primordial Expanse.
Death was common there, and many suffered fates worse than death. As a veteran explorer of the Primordial Expanse, she knew it very well.
Leon was progressing very fast, and if all he had to do was experience terrible pain in return, she would still call it a win, no matter how strange it sounded.
Then why didn’t she like what was happening with him?
"Besides, I can’t quit it even if I wanted to," Leon said with a shrug.
"You can’t?" Amber frowned.
"Yup! It’s either I experience that pain and gain nothing or I experience it and become stronger. I chose the second option, obviously," Leon said. "Besides, I’m trying to find a safe zone for it, and I’m close so you don’t need to worry."
With that, he began closing the door on Amber’s face while saying, "Alright, now you can go and ask Mom to prepare breakfast. I’ll be there shortly after."
Then, he closed the door and entered the bathroom. He splashed cold water on his face a few times and shivered slightly. But it was unknown if the shiver came from the water or from remembering the pain of last night.
’That bastard... I will exterminate your whole race. Just you wait!!’
Just because he was getting better at ignoring the aftereffects of the pain didn’t mean he didn’t have trauma from it. He still felt his hand trembling at the thought of entering the Dungeon again.
But he suppressed it and freshened himself up. By then, he had already pushed it to the back of his mind since he didn’t even want to think about it.
After wearing a loose white hoodie and pants, he styled his hair and went downstairs, where he found Amber already waiting for him in the living room.
She had also changed her attire into brown tactical pants and a black leather jacket over her sports bra. She only gave him a glance before shifting her focus back to her laptop.
"Where’s Mum?" Leon asked.
"She’s managing the bakery," Amber responded. "I tried to help her, but she kicked me out. She really is hard to refuse."
"I inherited that from her," Leon grinned at her and said, "Alright, I’ll go help her first."
Just as he was about to head to the bakery, his mother entered the room, and a beautiful smile bloomed on her face. ’Good morning. Did you sleep well last night?’
Amber’s fingers stopped typing as she also paid attention to Evelyn and turned to look at Leon. He never lied to his mother, so she was curious about how he would answer her.
But she clearly underestimated Leon’s thick skin.
"Not really," Leon sighed with sadness clear on his face. "I couldn’t get the feeling of your hands on my head out of my mind. You spoiled me too much."
Amber’s lips curled up at his response, and she resisted the urge to laugh out loud. This brat really knew how to run his mouth.
Meanwhile, Evelyn just rolled her eyes at his actions and asked, ’So, it’s my fault now?’
"Of course. Who told you to spoil me so much?" Leon snorted, shifting all the blame onto her.
Evelyn smiled and walked towards him. Then, she patted his head and said, ’No worries. Evelyn Walker can afford a spoiled child. I have Silver to be the reasonable one.’
"She’s the last person to be associated with reasonable," Leon said but lowered himself to allow her to pat his head properly.
Evelyn messed up his hair and lightly glared at him. ’She is way better than you.’
"Yeah, yeah. She’s probably the child you exchanged me for..." Leon sighed.
Evelyn, who was about to turn towards the kitchen, stopped and said, ’That actually is a possibility I wish was true.’
Leon gaped at her in disbelief and pushed her into the kitchen. "Gimme my food, you biased mother."
Amber could only shake her head in amusement at their childish antics. Yet, it was enough to make her smile and she knew she would never get tired of seeing this.
