CHAPTER 29: CHAPTER 28 INTERROGATION

Gu Xijun felt a headache coming on because this group of people brought in were all difficult to deal with.

In such a short time, several phone calls had already come in, each one was someone she, as a junior guard, couldn’t afford to offend.

As per usual, investigate whether any of them have a criminal record first, then proceed with interrogation.

Gu Xijun was pondering how to solve the problem of these people when a subordinate ran over and said to her, "Deputy Guard, this Yang Chen’s identity information is incorrect!"

"Incorrect? How is it incorrect?" Gu Xijun raised an eyebrow and asked.

The subordinate dared not look directly at Gu Xijun, and whispered, "The identity information is very strange, you’d better come and have a look yourself."

Gu Xijun stood up, walked over to the computer with the investigation documents, and saw Yang Chen’s information.

"Entered Baihe Orphanage at age six, enlisted in the guard at age sixteen... huh? What about the information after that? Why is it missing?" Gu Xijun was puzzled, "He served in the guard for three years until he was nineteen, and now he’s twenty-five. So where did he go during those six years?"

"I’m not sure, couldn’t find any relevant information."

Gu Xijun thought for a moment and said, "Check if there’s any information about a wanted notice!"

Interrogation room.

Yang Chen was brought here from the start and was handcuffed.

It’s completely dark and silent around.

Yang Chen could hear his own heartbeat, involuntarily recalling his time in the guard.

"Did you make a mistake?"

"No!"

"Say again, did you make a mistake?"

"No!"

"Won’t admit it, huh!"

"No mistake means no mistake!"

"Fine! Solitary confinement then!"

The room then seemed even darker and colder than now, hunger being the worst part.

In the end, did he apologize to the instructor? Yang Chen couldn’t quite remember.

The door of the interrogation room was pushed open, accompanied by the light turning on.

Yang Chen closed his eyes to adjust, then slowly opened them and saw the female officer who had arrested him.

Standing at 170 centimeters, her long, beautiful legs gave off a solid feeling, possibly due to frequent exercise. Her top tucked into her waistband, making her waist appear slenderer. Yang Chen glanced at Gu Xijun’s face, curious to see what someone with such a striking figure looked like, and upon seeing, Yang Chen understood.

A round face, smooth skin with a very solid feeling, delicate features, a standard doll face that looked really cute. The only thing that matched her identity was the heroic spirit between her brows.

Yang Chen sighed inwardly, having such a figure, she could be a model, yet she chose to be an officer.

Gu Xueqing and another officer sat opposite Yang Chen, looking solemn.

"Name!"

"Zhang San!"

Gu Xueqing slammed the table, glaring at Yang Chen, and shouted, "Behave yourself, answer what’s asked!"

Yang Chen replied innocently, "I said it, my name is Zhang San! Or you can call me Li Si!"

Gu Xijun’s eyes flared with anger, leaned forward on the table, and stared at Yang Chen, "Don’t assume we know nothing. If you don’t want trouble, you’d better answer truthfully!"

"Gulp!" Both Yang Chen and the other officer swallowed, the sound particularly jarring in the quiet interrogation room.

Gu Xijun’s face reddened instantly, she turned and glared at the officer.

The officer, embarrassed, clasped his hands together pleading to Gu Xijun.

Taking a deep breath, Gu Xijun controlled her emotions and sat down, saying to Yang Chen, "I advise you to answer honestly, or don’t blame me for being rude!"

Yang Chen couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh and said to Gu Xijun, "Aren’t you guys aware? You can check my records anytime and my ID card is with you, isn’t it? Can’t read? If you can’t read, I can read it for you!"

"Stop talking nonsense!" Gu Xijun snapped angrily.

"I’m not talking nonsense!" Yang Chen stared at Gu Xijun and asked, "I’m very curious, how much did they pay you to interrogate me? Isn’t the truth clear? They blocked my protectee; I’m a bodyguard, sworn to protect my boss’s safety. You don’t believe me, but there were many witnesses, right? Can’t you gather evidence? And now you turn around to interrogate me?"

Gu Xijun raised her head, glanced at the camera in the corner, then pointed and said, "Four corners of the room, in front of our interrogation desk, and behind you, six cameras in total, all transmitting live, under the lens, fair and just, we’re not targeting anyone or working for anyone, we’re just seeking the truth, and if you don’t cooperate, why expect others to do so?"

Yang Chen was stunned, not expecting Gu Xijun to be surprisingly witty.

"Name!"

"Yang Chen!"

"Age!"

"25!"

"Gender!"

"..."

After the customary interrogation, Gu Xijun said to the officer beside her, "You go out, I have some things to ask him alone."

"Alright!"

After the officer left, Gu Xijun kept staring at Yang Chen.

Yang Chen met her gaze, not looking away.

"You’re a former guard member, aren’t you?"

Yang Chen neither answered nor denied.

"Quite skilled!" Gu Xijun said.

Yang Chen still didn’t reply.

"But I seemed to have found some interesting things." Gu Xijun stood up, walked to the table, and leaned on it.

Yang Chen raised an eyebrow, still silent.

"Now, please answer honestly, what did you do after serving in the guard at nineteen?" Gu Xijun fixed her gaze on Yang Chen.

Yang Chen sneered, "Can’t you guys check?"

Gu Xijun slammed the table and shouted, "If I could, why would I ask you!"

Yang Chen shrugged faintly, indicating no comment.

Gu Xijun sneered coldly, stood upright, and stared at Yang Chen, "Don’t think I don’t know what you did. Serving in the guard requires only three years, yet you disappeared for six years, with almost no information during those six years. Where did you go? I don’t even need to think, I can guess some of it. If you don’t speak now, you’ll regret it when I find out!"

She believed Yang Chen had fled for six years due to some prior offense, thinking it was safe to return after the situation had cooled down. Moreover, she was convinced Yang Chen had engaged in a dangerous profession outside; otherwise, how could he still have such skills after six years since serving in the guard?

"If you don’t talk, I have ways to make you." With that, Gu Xijun walked to the door and slammed it shut with a bang.

The room was instantly plunged into darkness!
