Chapter 147: Love That Cannot Be Attained
CHAPTER 147: CHAPTER 147: LOVE THAT CANNOT BE ATTAINED
"This is indeed the Adler Family’s place, but it belongs to Master Caleb, not you. Hurry up and get out of here, you’re an eyesore," said the security guard impatiently.
"Bastards, who allowed you to do this?" George Adler had just gotten out of the car, followed by several board members, all veterans of the company, who collectively resigned on Caleb’s first day at the company, showing their support by following George Adler.
"Mr. Adler, my apologies, but your and your daughter’s positions have already been replaced. If you’re here for the handover, you can go in now," the security guard said. "As for the others, Master Caleb has said that if they want to resign, there’s no need to come back. All positions will be filled."
"Nonsense!" George Adler’s face turned livid with anger. "How could that fool have so many people? Without these people, he’s clearly leading the company into ruin!"
The people he brought out were in vital positions; they were his only bargaining chips.
"Believe it or not," the security guard responded impatiently, "but all the positions have indeed been filled. You can check the company’s website now."
"Mr. Adler," those with him all looked grim. They intended to threaten Caleb, but unexpectedly, he had already replaced all the positions in the company. "He must have been pretending to be crazy all along; otherwise, he wouldn’t dare do this today."
"Mr. Adler, look," someone pulled out a phone and logged onto the company’s website, showing that indeed all the vacant positions had been filled, and those replacements were far more capable than they were.
"The Adler Family has raised such a backstabber all these years!" George Adler, seething with anger, smashed the phone.
"Mr. Adler, you’d better leave soon," the security guard said. "Standing here like this will affect the company’s image.
"No, no, I’m not leaving," Ivy shouted. "This is ours, ours."
"We’ll go back first and think of a plan. I want to see how much more he can overturn," George Adler said coldly, grabbing Ivy’s arm and turning away.
A luxurious black car was slowly driving along the road. Melody Thorne saw everything clearly through the car window, watching Ivy and George Adler being driven out of the Adler Company’s premises.
Just like the Thorne Family years ago, cast out with nowhere to go. After her father and Mrs. Thorne handed her to the Quinn Family, they left the country and were never heard from again.
She didn’t even know how they were faring now.
As for Ivy and George Adler, they only lost the company. She would make them lose more, to experience what it’s like to have nothing, to be trampled on by everyone.
The hatred in her eyes did not escape Jared Quinn’s notice. Even if he hadn’t seen her eyes, he could feel it; she harbored great animosity towards the Adler Family.
Was it because of him? Because she loved him but couldn’t have him, so she hated Ivy?
So, she still loved him, right?
Jared Quinn’s large hand reached over and wrapped around her slightly cold hand, a slight frown forming between his cold eyebrows. Why was it so cold?
As soon as he touched her hand, Melody Thorne quickly withdrew it, hugging little Timmy tightly in her arms, wrapping her arms around him, further distancing herself from him.
Timmy sat obediently in Melody Thorne’s lap, showing his little teeth to his dad, confident that he held a higher position than his father.
Jared Quinn gave him a warning look.
