My Super Sassy Dad: Stop Running Away, Mrs. Quinn!
Chapter 165: Being the Scapegoat
CHAPTER 165: CHAPTER 165: BEING THE SCAPEGOAT
"Shut up!" Melody Thorne aimed the whip in her hand at Finn Thorne on the sofa. "He’s not your brother-in-law, stop calling him that from now on."
Finn Thorne glanced at Melody Thorne and then at Hans Montrose, his gaze steady. "Sis, you’re not thinking of eloping with Hans, are you? You can’t do that. With my brother-in-law’s temper, he’ll definitely kill to silence."
Melody Thorne sneered, "...Why would we tie you up if we were eloping?"
"To be a scapegoat."
Melody Thorne "..."
"Alright, it’s serious." Melody Thorne suppressed her smile and said, "Are you familiar with the people around Felix Chandler?"
"Felix Chandler? That rich guy?"
"Exactly."
"Not very familiar, but we’ve had our disagreements. However, I’m pretty close with a few of his guys. Sis, why are you asking about him?" Finn Thorne asked.
"Get those guys to keep an eye on his movements for the next few days, and make sure to tell me the places he frequents."
Though she wasn’t in a hurry to force Ivy out, she needed to keep track of her movements.
"Alright, no problem." Finn Thorne made a call to have someone watch him. "Can I go now?"
"No, you stay here and make sure you head back to school tomorrow." Melody Thorne spoke expressionlessly.
"Sis, I really have something to do." Finn Thorne’s expression changed slightly.
"You call that something?" If this continued, he’d end up plucking all the flowers in Stellaria.
Finn Thorne "..."
"You two stay put here, call me if anything comes up. I have a meeting to attend." Hans Montrose stood up. "Remember, don’t go out."
"Okay."
"Beep beep," the watch on Melody Thorne’s hand sounded. It was a parent-child watch she bought for Timmy a few days ago, which could make calls.
She glanced down. If Timmy couldn’t see her, he probably wouldn’t be able to sleep. Would he be worried about her?
"Timmy," she pressed the answer button.
"Melody~ where are you? Why aren’t you back yet?" Timmy’s soft and sweet voice carried a hint of reliance.
Melody Thorne felt a bit soft-hearted. "Timmy, I’m a bit busy today, I might not come back tonight. You need to listen to the butler and go to bed early, okay?"
"Why aren’t you coming back?"
"Hmm...I’m very busy, I’m pulling an all-nighter, so I won’t return today. Be good, Timmy, and go to bed early."
Timmy "..."
The call was disconnected.
Is he mad? Melody Thorne put the watch away.
While Melody Thorne wasn’t paying attention, Finn Thorne stealthily sent out a message and then pretended to speak nonchalantly. "Sis, you don’t need to oversee me all the time. Rest assured, unless you leave here first, I won’t leave tonight!"
"What are you up to?"
"Nothing!"
There was a sudden screech of brakes from downstairs, and the car lights momentarily illuminated the window before extinguishing with a sharp aura.
Back so soon? Melody Thorne looked towards the door.
"Knock knock," the sound of knocking on the door came.
Only a few seconds had passed.
"Sis, open the door," Finn Thorne urged, his eyes gleaming with a bit of excitement.
Melody Thorne stood up, puzzled, and peered through the peephole at the door. The person outside was tall, and all she could see was a white shirt and the faint outline of well-defined muscles underneath...
A chill wafted through the air.
The name Jared Quinn surfaced in her mind.
"Knock knock," the knocking grew louder, the patience worn thin.
Fearing Hans Montrose might return at this moment and run into Jared Quinn, Melody Thorne unlocked the door and stepped back.
Outside, a tall and imposing figure swiftly entered. A large hand circled her waist, pinning her against the wall, and his dark eyes seethed with fury...
"Brother-in-law," Finn Thorne immediately ran over. "Rest assured, since my sister has been here, I’ve kept an eye on her. Nothing happened between them, I’m absolutely loyal to you."
