CHAPTER 29: CHAPTER 29: EVEN BREATHING IS FREEDOM

Her heart suddenly clenched, and in her dark, clear pupils reflected a man walking toward her step by step. His face was breathtakingly handsome, his lips tightly pressed in indifference, his posture tall and straight, wearing a luxurious black suit with an air of abstinence, and his steps carried a sharp breeze.

"What do you want to do?" Melody Thorne took a step back, warily watching the man in front of her.

Jared Quinn didn’t stop his footsteps; instead, he approached step by step, extending his solid arms to lock her between the glass table and him, leaning down to stare intently, "The real devil? Cursed? Haunting at midnight?"

"Wha... what?" Melody Thorne was momentarily taken aback because he was so close, and all around her nose and ears was the mature and enticing aura from the man, and those lines sounded somewhat familiar.

Jared Quinn’s eyes were extraordinarily deep, like a dangerous beast lurking behind his dark eyes, unfathomable.

They were pressed so close that Melody Thorne could even feel the frame of steel and iron that stood before her. She instantly held her breath, not daring to move a bit.

After a while, Jared Quinn finally retracted his gaze, his large hand reached behind her, his strong arm intentionally or unintentionally brushed across her waist as he picked up an empty glass, poured a glass of water, and turned to leave.

Melody Thorne "!!!"

"Phew" After the man left, even breathing felt liberating.

Wait, suddenly the lines he just uttered popped into Melody Thorne’s mind—they were the ones she had said to Timothy Lockwood the other day!

Could it be that after she returned to the room last night, Jared Quinn looked through her camera?

An icy chill swept over Melody Thorne’s body because she understood Jared Quinn—this man was far more terrifyingly calm than when he was angry.

She forcefully suppressed her wildly beating heart, made breakfast and brought it out, only to be followed by a gaze persistently watching her, like needles on her back making her spine chill.

"Master Jared," Ivy came in from outside, holding a box in her hand, walked over to the man with a sweet smile, "I know you’re going to Grandpa Quinn’s today, here, this is Grandpa Quinn’s favorite wine, newly brewed. Could you take it to him for me?"

Melody Thorne cast a cool glance at the two people opposite her, lowered her eyes carelessly. In her past life, it was the same; every time they went to Grandpa Quinn’s, Ivy would find an excuse to come over and then join them.

Jared Quinn didn’t miss Melody Thorne’s expression, including her nonchalance and indifference. To him, it was like a breath stuck in his throat, uncomfortable whether he swallowed it or not.

"Master Jared?" Ivy saw Jared Quinn staring at Melody Thorne all the time, her face changed slightly, even a bit flustered.

"Let’s go together," Jared Quinn got up and strode away.

Ivy stood there, both surprised and delighted.

Melody Thorne collected her expression, lowered her gaze, even though she no longer cared about Jared Quinn, she still felt a bit disappointed.

Many things have changed in this life, yet many things also remain the same.

"Melody," Ivy walked over, with uncontrollable joy on her face, but half-embarrassed, "I hope I’m not interfering with your private time? Actually, I just wanted you to take it there, but who knew Master Jared... would have me come along."

That look incited an impulse in Melody Thorne to tear off her mask of disguise immediately,

But, no rush, everything should be returned to her in due time.

"Then let’s go together," Melody Thorne smiled warmly.
