CHAPTER 31: CHAPTER 31: THEN SLEEP

The red lips were tightly pursed, not uttering a word.

But Ivy loved to see this scene because she knew the more Melody complained to Grandpa Quinn, the more Jared Quinn would detest her.

Melody lifted her eyes briefly, and when she met Jared Quinn’s gaze, she quickly pulled back, sniffing as she said, "No, Grandpa, it’s him, he’s too good and gentle to me. He not only accompanies me shopping but also goes to movies with me, and he even personally chooses my clothes; I’m really touched."

Grandpa Quinn stood upright, ready to reprimand Jared Quinn. Hearing Melody’s words, he bent his back, obviously skeptical, "Melody, if anything’s wrong, just tell Grandpa. Don’t suffer in silence, Grandpa will stand up for you."

Could his icy grandson really accompany a woman shopping? Go to movies? Personally pick out clothes? Not even he believed that.

"Really," Melody took two steps forward to prove she was telling the truth, wrapping her small fair hand around Jared Quinn’s arm, her little face brushing against him, looking extremely satisfied, "He’s been too good lately, I’m truly moved."

Her soft, sweet voice whined like a feather lightly touching a man’s heart, making it itch.

Jared Quinn lowered his eyes, looking at the small face brushing against his arm, and his hand that was about to push her away inexplicably stopped.

The girl’s fair and clean features needed no makeup, delicate and pretty, with gentle lines. Her look of closed-eye enjoyment made him think of four words: shy, adorable.

He even wondered how it would feel if she really enjoyed herself by his side.

Grandpa Quinn, watching the interaction between the two, felt much better, looked at them with a touch of envy, and, holding Timmy’s hand, headed to the dining table, "Come on, let’s have something to eat first."

Just as Jared Quinn lowered his eyes to look at her, Melody’s eyes suddenly opened, filled with a sly sparkle, and she quietly explained yesterday’s situation, "See? I wasn’t lying to you. I really didn’t make the call yesterday; I wouldn’t complain about you to Grandpa Quinn."

Jared Quinn "......"

"Who on earth made the complaint?" Melody released the man’s arm, muttering under her breath, not noticing how his face was slowly darkening beside her.

"Then just play your part well," Jared Quinn scoffed coldly, striding toward the dining table.

Melody jogged behind him, saying as she ran, "Don’t worry, I’m an elite of Axton Academy. I can handle a little acting. But I helped you get through with Grandpa today, don’t you think you should at least show some appreciation?"

Jared Quinn suddenly halted his steps, causing Melody to stumble forward, her head hitting his chest with a thud.

Ouch, damn it! That really hurt!

Been running into things a lot lately.

"What do you mean?" The man’s deep voice came from above.

Melody, covering her forehead, tilted her head, glaring at the man in front of her, "Of course, I mean the bed at night! I’m helping you so much; surely you won’t let a delicate woman like me sleep on the couch again?"

Jared Quinn squinted, "You said all that just for a bed?"

"Yes," Melody answered swiftly, "I want to sleep in the bed!"

"Huh," Jared Quinn snorted coldly, his gaze deep as he looked at her, a hidden fire seemingly burning within, "Then sleep!"
