CHAPTER 52: CHAPTER 52: WAIT FOR ME ONE HOUR

Walking quickly, Melody Thorne barely had time to struggle before being pulled into the office.

She finally saw the opulent and imposing office that she had desperately wanted to enter in her previous life but never could.

"Open it," Jared Quinn released her arm and walked over to sit in the leather chair.

Melody took a moment to understand what he meant by "open," gritting her teeth as she approached and began unpacking the lunchbox, layer by layer, placing it on the table. "Is that okay?"

"Eat," Jared tossed the command her way, his eyes calm and indifferent.

"I’ve already eaten," Melody was eager to leave, as she had many tasks unfinished.

Jared pulled her back to him, using some force to settle her onto his lap, his tone mild but indisputable, "Keep me company while I eat."

Melody was taken aback, "!!!".

The office door opened again, and Simon Sutton walked in, slightly surprised to see Melody sitting on Jared’s lap, but he quickly concealed it.

He knew that guessing the man’s thoughts was forbidden, something a high-ranking individual like Jared would not tolerate.

"Speak," Jared’s expression remained unchanged.

But Melody’s gaze at Simon was different; after all, he had just helped her, so her look was bright and appreciative.

Simon flinched slightly, lowering his head, avoiding Melody’s gaze, "The negotiations abroad have concluded, Dylan will arrive in two days, awaiting the final contract to be finalized."

"You can leave now."

"Yes, sir."

"I need to go back too," Melody struggled slightly.

Jared graciously released her, "Wait for me an hour."

Melody contemplated, "What if I don’t?"

Jared raised his head, elegantly manipulating the chopsticks to eat the Western food she brought, saying calmly, "It’s not wise to crash immature eggs against a stone."

Melody fumed, "!!!"

She sat sulkily on the sofa, took off her shoes, her alabaster legs folded in front, curled on the couch, and pulled out her phone. Her current power wasn’t sufficient; she wouldn’t foolishly smash into the massive rock that was Jared.

As she opened the webpage, she noticed that The Adler Family had a small press conference streaming live. Ivy was tearfully explaining yesterday’s news, claiming it was all the magic of Photoshop.

The woman on the bed wasn’t her but someone else, although she didn’t disclose who.

A memory from her previous life flashed swiftly through Melody’s mind; Ivy seemed to have found someone to make the woman’s face in the bed photo look like hers.

Jared had been infuriated by this, almost choking her to death.

Her fingers tapped a few times on her phone, and indeed, the images were all of her. Even a single photo of Ivy couldn’t be found now.

"Not bad, really seems like you’re enjoying it," her message inbox lit up with Caleb’s profile picture; he even specially sent her a copy of the photo.

Melody sent back a flurry of knife emojis.

"You need to trade something if you want me to clear this up," Caleb messaged.

Melody knew what he wanted, but she wasn’t about to trade the witness’s location for this mess; she’d save it for a greater exchange.

"Don’t need it," Melody replied with three words, grabbing a cushion and lying down, her pristine, glistening white feet dangling over the edge of the sofa.
