CHAPTER 439: CHAPTER 437: ACCIDENT
"What’s the matter?" Qi Ming put down his chopsticks, "You tell me."
"I heard that D house is selecting their next spokesperson, and I really like the design style of D house. Their chief designer has always been my idol, and I’ve always wanted to work with D house."
"This year they are choosing a spokesperson from among the emerging actresses, and I don’t know if I’m on their list of candidates. Could you ask President Fu to inquire for me? He should know them, right?"
"D house?" Qi Ming mused, "I remember FS seems to have a collaboration with them."
"I’ll mention it to my little uncle later on, ask him to inquire for you." Qi Ming said, "D house is not top-tier luxury, if possible, I’ll get it for you directly."
Wen Shu let out an "Ah," "That doesn’t seem quite right."
"I’ll try first." Qi Ming lifted the lid off the porridge, stirred with a spoon to cool it down, and pushed it in front of Wen Shu, "Besides, you saved my little uncle before, and he’s always remembered that. You didn’t use that favor for personal gain; the role of ’Ju Lian’ was something he gave you on his own. This time, since you rarely ask for anything, I think he’ll agree. After all, my little uncle doesn’t like being in debt to others. You shouldn’t feel burdened."
Hearing him say this, Wen Shu felt relieved, "Then that’s good."
After a pause, she remembered something else, "Ah Ming, you haven’t told President Fu about us being together, have you?"
"Not yet," Qi Ming asked, "What’s the matter?"
"Let’s not mention it for now," she said, "I’m afraid he’ll misunderstand that I’m with you just to get the endorsement. I know I might be overthinking, but..." Wen Shu gently shook his wrist, "Is that okay?"
"Sure, whatever you say goes," Qi Ming nodded. "Eat up, I’ll take you to the set soon."
Wen Shu nodded, "Okay."
-
Qi Ming was concerned about the endorsement Wen Shu had brought up and stayed in Hang City for two days before leaving.
These two days happened to coincide with a late heatwave; the temperature, which had just dropped, suddenly rose again, making it even more unbearable.
Wen Qiao, swathed in thick costumes every day, was so hot she didn’t even feel like eating.
She felt like a wilting sapling in the desert, listless.
Today’s filming wasn’t much, but it was troublesome with all the fight scenes and crowd sequences. Director Zhang was someone who paid a lot of attention to detail and would not allow any mistakes on his set, so everyone on the crew was on high alert, wary that a single error could mean everyone having to redo the scene.
The earlier scenes went smoothly, and only the last one was left before wrapping up.
The last scene was Wen Qiao’s solo, depicting Huo Cheng’s victorious return from battle and Princess Rong Huan running out of the great hall toward him.
There was a long flight of stairs in front of the great hall, and Wen Qiao needed to run down from the top.
After Director Zhang called action, Wen Qiao ran out from the great hall.
The young couple, meeting for the first time in almost two years, looked at each other across the long flight of stairs, their eyes slowly filling with longing for the other.
Finally, Princess Rong Huan couldn’t contain herself any longer. She lifted her skirt and ran down the stairs; the ’step shaking’ accessory on her head, meant to restrict movement, swung back and forth as she ran, but she seemed oblivious to it, her heart and eyes filled only with the sight of her knight in shining armor returning home, her young hero.
It was supposed to be a beautifully poignant scene, and success was within sight, but then an accident occurred.
