CHAPTER 506: CHAPTER 504: I MISS YOU
The enthusiasm of the film crew lasted well into the evening until wrap time. As everyone was getting ready to pack up and head back to the hotel to rest, Director Zhang held everyone back.
"In the afternoon, President Fu sent me a message, saying everyone has worked hard on the shooting and as a reward, he’d like to treat us all to dinner at Lijiang Restaurant."
Lijiang Restaurant served authentic Hang City cuisine. Due to its favorable geographical location, nestled between mountains and rivers, it offered a view of Hang City at night and was always a venue for hosting high-end patrons.
Though this group could afford to dine there on their own, having someone treat them was always exciting.
After quickly packing up their equipment, everyone grouped together and headed to Lijiang Restaurant.
Having finished their meal at Lijiang Restaurant, and since it was a rare outing, the group didn’t feel like returning early, so they found a KTV with the largest VIP room and began to sing.
Considering work the next day, the group didn’t party too late and returned to the hotel around eleven.
Wen Qiao’s phone had run out of battery while they were at the KTV. Upon returning to her room and charging her phone, she wasn’t in a hurry to turn it on, instead she took her pyjamas into the bathroom, and it was half an hour later when she came out after her bath.
Wen Qiao put a facial mask on her face and wrapped her hair in a dry hair cap, then sat down on the bed to turn her phone on.
After connecting to the hotel’s Wi-Fi, her phone pinged several times with notifications from apps, as well as unread WeChat messages.
Wen Qiao opened WeChat. The top conversation was with Fu Jinghen, showing five unread messages, the latest sent just a minute ago.
Wen Qiao opened it.
Eight o’clock.
[Fu Jinghen: "Was the food to your liking?"]
Eight-thirty.
[Fu Jinghen: "Have you finished eating?"]
Nine-thirty.
[Fu Jinghen: "Director Zhang said you went out. Message me when you get back to the hotel."]
Ten-thirty.
[Fu Jinghen: "Haven’t you returned to the hotel?"]
Eleven-thirty.
[Fu Jinghen: "Qiaoqiao?"]
Just as Wen Qiao was about to type a response, her phone vibrated first, and the screen displayed "Jiang City’s Top Legs".
Wen Qiao slid to answer, "Hello?"
Hearing her voice, Fu Jinghen silently breathed a sigh of relief, "Back at the hotel?"
"Yeah."
"Why didn’t you reply?"
"My phone was dead. After I got back to my room, I charged it up and took a bath before turning it on," Wen Qiao explained somewhat unconsciously to Fu Jinghen.
Fu Jinghen keenly noted this and chuckled, "Why didn’t you turn on your phone before taking a bath?"
Wen Qiao kicked off her slippers and lay on the bed, "It’s not urgent. Besides, no one was looking for me."
"That’s not true." Fu Jinghen corrected her misunderstanding, "I was waiting for your message all along."
After a silence of two seconds, Wen Qiao quietly replied, "Oh."
"Can we video call?"
The phone wasn’t on speaker, but Fu Jinghen’s deep voice, mingled with a faint current, felt as if he was whispering in her ear.
"I really miss you."
Wen Qiao was silent for another two seconds before saying, "Up to you."
"Then hang up, I’ll call you on video."
"Okay."
Wen Qiao ended the call, and just as she switched to the WeChat screen, Fu Jinghen’s video call popped up.
Wen Qiao silently counted to three before casually answering the call.
She still had her facial mask on, the black mask sheet covering her face. Fu Jinghen paused for a moment and then smiled, "How many minutes left for your mask?"
