CHAPTER 508: CHAPTER 506: IS THAT OKAY?

Wen Qiao muttered grumpily, "When Sister Fu Qiang hit you, did she activate some kind of meridian in you? How come I never noticed you being so clingy before, even needing to follow me to wash my face..."

Fu Jinghen was still in a daze, looking at her rosy lips moving and listening to her voice in his ear, but he didn’t catch a single word she said.

Wen Qiao saw that Fu Jinghen on the screen was motionless as if paused, so she leaned closer to the camera and reached out to tap it, "Are you daydreaming while video calling me? If so, we might as well not call at all."

"Hmm?" Fu Jinghen blinked slowly, coming back to his senses, "What?"

"I’m asking what you’re daydreaming about!"

"Nothing." Fu Jinghen changed the subject, "Did you put on your slippers?"

"I did."

Wen Qiao walked to the bathroom holding her phone, placed it on the vanity, tore off the facial mask, turned on the faucet, bent over, and splashed water on her face to rinse off the remaining essence.

She was unaware, but it was torturous for Fu Jinghen, being able to see but not touch.

He wasn’t sure whether to be happy because the girl was so unguarded around him or to pity his own miserable situation.

For Fu Jinghen, the seconds Wen Qiao spent washing her face felt exceptionally long. Only when the sound of running water ceased and Wen Qiao stood back up, did he breathe a sigh of relief as if a burden had been lifted.

Wen Qiao wiped her face dry with a washcloth, applied lotion and essence, then picked up her phone and walked back to the bedroom.

She saw Fu Jinghen in the little frame looking down, seemingly preoccupied, and asked curiously, "What are you doing?"

Fu Jinghen looked up at the sound of her voice, "I bought you some things, they’ll probably be delivered to your doorstep tomorrow. Remember to collect them."

"What things?"

"Some clothes."

"Why are you buying me clothes?" Wen Qiao was puzzled, "I don’t need any new clothes."

"But I want to buy them for you." Fu Jinghen looked at her, "Is it okay?"

"......"

If he wanted to buy them, why look at her with such a pitiable gaze?

"Do whatever you want, it’s not my money you’re spending anyway."

Fu Jinghen smiled, "Then remember to collect it tomorrow."

"I got it, I got it."

Fu Jinghen leaned back, enlarging the view in the small frame. Wen Qiao caught a glimpse of something, stared intently, and asked, "Why are your ears so red?"

"......"

Fu Jinghen’s smile froze momentarily before he cleared his throat twice, "It’s a bit hot in the room."

"Didn’t you turn on the air conditioning?"

Fu Jinghen fell silent for a while, "Forgot."

"Then turn it on already, you’re acting like a fool, letting yourself get so hot without turning on the air conditioning."

Fu Jinghen glanced at the number—"16"—displayed on the remote control beside him and nodded, "I got it."

Sleepiness crept over Wen Qiao as she yawned and rubbed away the teardrops forming at the corners of her eyes, not noticing anything amiss with Fu Jinghen, "I’m going to sleep."

"Okay." Fu Jinghen reminded her, "Don’t set the air conditioning too low, you’re about to get your period and shouldn’t catch a cold."

Overcome with drowsiness, Wen Qiao’s eyelids began to droop. Listening to Fu Jinghen’s deep voice, she closed her eyes and murmured impatiently with a frown, "I know, you’re so naggy."

"..."

Looking at the screen, at Wen Qiao’s face half-buried in the soft pillow, Fu Jinghen curved the corners of his mouth, feeling he could never get enough of looking at her.

"Goodnight, darling."

Wen Qiao forgot to hang up the video call before falling asleep, and Fu Jinghen didn’t either. He muted the call to avoid disturbing her with any noise from his side and set his phone aside.
