CHAPTER 541: CHAPTER 539: WHO IS IN A HURRY

Feng Li also had limited experience in love, and when he saw the two unfriendly messages from Wen Qiao, his heart ached even more for his boss.

The former Boss Lady was hugging and laughing with a young hottie while eating, yet his boss was in the hospital getting an IV drip.

Fu Jinghen had the air conditioning turned down too low during an international conference that day, and after a night without rest, he caught a cold. To spend the Mid-Autumn Festival with Wen Qiao, he had been busy for several days, and his cold had not completely cleared up.

After he arrived in West City, he developed a fever, and his sleeping and eating schedules had been irregular these past few days. Today, after seeing Wen Qiao’s show, he went all day without eating.

An uncle who had long-term cooperation with the Fu Family somehow heard about Fu Jinghen’s visit to West City and insisted on inviting him for a meal. Unable to refuse, Fu Jinghen knew that such a dinner outside was bound to involve drinking. In the end, after finishing the meal, he collapsed.

On top of that, with the Mid-Autumn Festival drawing near—a time for family reunions—Feng Li felt pity for Fu Jinghen and found his situation to be particularly desolate.

Now that Wen Qiao had sent messages like that, Feng Li could hardly bear to look.

He glanced at Fu Jinghen, who was lying on the hospital bed, eyes closed, slipping into a light sleep, and quietly opened the door to step out.

He found Jiang Yao’s mobile number and dialed it.

The weather in West City was much cooler than in Hang City, but after dining out and carrying the smell of food on her, followed by a stroll, Wen Qiao felt uncomfortable going straight to bed. So she took a quick shower.

When Jiang Yao’s call came through, Wen Qiao had just finished her shower.

She answered the phone, "What’s up?"

When Feng Li called Jiang Yao, he explained Fu Jinghen’s current condition. Knowing that Fu Jinghen wouldn’t want Wen Qiao to find out about the scene he witnessed at the hotel entrance, Feng Li didn’t mention that incident had affected him. He only said that Fu Jinghen had wanted to see Wen Qiao in West City but fell ill and asked her to see if Wen Qiao had time to come visit.

Jiang Yao didn’t beat around the bush; as soon as Wen Qiao finished speaking, she relayed Feng Li’s message, "Feng Li just called me to say that Fu Jinghen is now in West City First Hospital. He asked me to see if you have time to visit him."

Wen Qiao was stunned, sitting up from the bed abruptly, "What happened to him? Why did he end up in the hospital?"

"Don’t panic, it’s nothing serious. He just has a fever, drank a little alcohol, and then... yeah."

"What’s the room number?"

Jiang Yao seemed to have anticipated Wen Qiao’s reaction, as she immediately gave Fu Jinghen’s room number right after she spoke, and then teased her, "Hmm? Didn’t you say you don’t like President Fu anymore? Why are you so anxious?"

"Who’s anxious?"

Wen Qiao’s movements in opening the door paused as she saw herself in the mirror beside the door, dressed in pajamas that Fu Jinghen had bought for her, wearing slippers on her feet, and sporting a cartoon headband on her head. This was her look the moment she heard Fu Jinghen was in the hospital and she hadn’t even thought to change before rushing out the door.

She didn’t even believe herself when she said she wasn’t anxious.

Even though she knew Jiang Yao wasn’t there in person, Wen Qiao still felt a bit guilty and quieted her movements.

Tiptoeing away from the doorway, she returned to the bedside, turned on the speakerphone, and as she changed her clothes stealthily, she said, "I am just planning to pay a humanitarian visit. Moreover, I didn’t say I am going right now. If he’s still not better after I finish recording the show tomorrow, I’ll find some time to visit."
