Exella replied, "The only way my status can rise within the Travis family is if I can find a way to bring economic profit to the Tricell group. If I can't do that, Tricell won't promote me." She downed her drink and continued, "The Travis family only accepts pure bloodlines — that's an internal problem within the family. Because of that, Tricell has always failed to surpass Umbrella whenever the chance arises." Exella didn't hide her family's problems from Allen.

Allen nodded. "Okay — we can work together. Take this." He handed a flash drive to Exella.

"What is this?" Exella asked, confused.

"This is data on several drugs you can sell and develop. It even includes information on how to develop an anti-cancer drug."

"You're serious, Allen? You're just giving this to me like that?" Exella was surprised — it seemed Allen didn't value this research as highly as she thought.

"This is just one of my side projects, and it's a test for me to see if I can trust you or not, and it's not that valuable to me," Allen said.

"Thank you, I definitely won't betray your trust," Exella said — it was the first time she had ever been treated like this.

"By the way, you know about what happened in the Arklay Mountains, right?" Allen asked, wanting to know how much Tricell knew about Umbrella.

"Yes. I know the cause was a leaked biological weapon serum, and the US government is investigating to find evidence so they can bring down Umbrella and take control. I heard someone inside Umbrella secretly leaked some data and sold it to the Travis family."

"Hmmm, I think I know who that is," Allen said, thinking of Albert Wesker. "Let me tell you this — don't get close to him. He won't hesitate to throw you away once he gets what he wants," Allen warned.

"Thanks for the heads up. Do you really know him?" Exella asked.

"Yes. That man is Albert Wesker. He's not much different from Spencer — both believe they are destined to lead humanity through mass genocide. They're delusional. I don't want you anywhere near him."

Exella shivered at the warning. "Yeah, I guess I'll be more careful. So, Allen — what do you want me to do?"

"For now, just focus on pharmaceutical sales and medical products. I think Umbrella will collapse in a few months — their virus leak won't be easy to contain unless the city gets nuked. Not to mention, I'm sure a lot of spies have already been sent into Umbrella to steal their virus samples," Allen said with a small smile.

"Allen, aren't you interested in selling bioweapons too?" she asked.

"Don't think so narrowly, Exella," Allen replied. "Sure, selling bioweapons might be profitable, but do you think the government won't monitor that if it becomes a global threat? It's smarter to operate on the safe side rather than become a public enemy. You don't want to be chased around by government dogs, unable to live a comfortable life — only a madman would think otherwise. And if you're really interested in stepping into that business, I'd suggest joining the government side if they develop anti-bioweapon projects and create vaccines instead."

"Allen, you seem pretty smart in business," Exella said, impressed by Allen's business plan.

"Thanks for the compliment. Is there anything else you want to talk about? If not, I'm heading out," Allen said, already preparing to leave since there didn't seem to be anything else important to discuss.

"You're not in a hurry, are you, Allen? We could have dinner together — I also want to get to know you better," Exella said in a seductive tone.

"Maybe another time. Tonight, I want to have dinner in my apartment," Allen replied, rejecting Exella's offer.

Exella was indeed beautiful, but Allen didn't need to rush into tasting this girl — after all, she was still far too young, around 15 years old, but because of her mature appearance, people could easily mistake her for being in her twenties. Even though Allen didn't really care much about age, at the very least, he still had to maintain his image.

After that, Allen left the hotel. Once he got into his car, Exella just watched from the window as Allen drove away.

"Am I not attractive enough for him, or is this because of my age?" Exella muttered, a bit disappointed that he had turned down her dinner invitation.

But she wouldn't give up that easily. She still had a chance to prove herself — to show that she could earn Allen's full trust.

....

The next morning Allen was now at the RPD taking care of some paperwork for Jill's leave in Chief Brian's office. Of course, with money involved, it was very easy to take care of, especially since Jill could now take a full year off under the excuse of maternity leave. Meanwhile, Rebecca seemed to refuse to take leave since she wasn't pregnant and wanted to stay with Allen here a little longer, and of course Allen didn't object to that. And after he got the leave permit for Jill, Allen then escorted his wives to the helicopter pad, piloted by Michaela Schneider (Bertha) as the pilot and Christine Yamata (Four Eyes) as the copilot. They were also tasked with being their bodyguards at the same time.

"Please take care of yourself, honey," said Jill, still worried.

"Of course, don't worry, I'll be just fine," Allen said before kissing Jill.

"Okay, don't forget to eat on time, and make sure your room stays neat because Mother and Tiamat won't be home with you," said Justeaze.

"Okay, don't worry about that, Mom," Allen replied in a childish tone—well, no matter what, whenever Allen was with Justeaze, his childish side always came out.

Meanwhile Raviel only stayed quiet, just smiling and hugging Allen tightly.

"I'm going to miss you," said Allen.

"Yes, me too, darling," Raviel replied.

Allen said the same thing after kissing all of his wives. After that they left, leaving Allen with Svetlana at the helicopter pad.

"Such a touching drama, it seems you really spoil them," Svetlana said, trying to tease Allen.

"If you became my woman, of course I'd treat you the same way," Allen replied back.

"Tsk." She only clicked her tongue, but Svetlana didn't want to say anything further—she didn't reject it nor did she accept it.

After their brief conversation, they went back to his apartment. The ones staying with Allen in the apartment right now were only Rebecca, Karena, Svetlana, Alyssa, Yoko, and Sherry. As for Yoko, she preferred to stay downstairs as a neighbor in another unit together with a few remaining members of Black Rose.

When Allen arrived at his apartment, he saw Ada sitting in the living room with Rebecca and Alyssa, drinking a cup of coffee and chatting with the women.

"Hey, handsome, you finally came," Ada said when she noticed Allen had entered the apartment with Svetlana. Chapters first released on noveⅼfire.net

"You two can talk first then," Rebecca said, taking Alyssa to another room. Svetlana also followed the other girls since she didn't want to get involved in overhearing their conversation.

Allen then sat on the sofa, looking at Ada, whose condition seemed covered with wounds.

"What happened to you?" Allen asked.

"Nothing, just a few injuries from work. I tried sneaking into an Umbrella facility, but I only ran into a little trouble there," she answered gracefully while sipping her coffee as if nothing had happened.

Allen was a little speechless seeing her with so many wounds, though it seemed they had just been treated—and most likely it was Rebecca who had patched her up.

"You'd better not go anywhere for now and wait until you heal," Allen said with some concern.

"By the way, it looks like your wives have left the city," Ada said in a teasing tone.

"Yeah, they're pregnant, so I moved them to L.A. so they can relax there." Allen then looked at her. "You can be honest with me, Ada. What do you really want?"

Even though Ada was injured, Allen was sure she had another reason for coming here. Ada then sat closer to him.

"I want an Umbrella serum sample. Can you get it for me?"

"Are you sure that's all you need?" Allen asked, staring at her face, which was now very close.

Ada turned her head away. Seeing Allen's face up close made her heart beat faster, but she still managed to hide it thanks to her mercenary experience.

"The T-virus and G-virus are just jobs I've taken. If I may, I'd like something else—I want data, information about bioweapons," she answered honestly, then took another sip of her coffee.

"I still don't get why you'd accept such a dangerous commission from The Family, with Simon as their director," Allen said.

"Isn't the answer obvious? A mercenary like me works for money," Ada replied.

"I get that, but it feels like you're still hiding something from me. Whatever, if you don't want to tell me, I won't force you."

"I'm actually quite interested in the true purpose of the T-virus and G-virus research," Ada admitted, softening a little.

It seemed Ada had a certain obsession whenever she came across challenging missions like this.

Allen then explained, "All these bioweapons are either artificially created from the T-virus or result from infections, like what happened in the Arklay Mountains. So no matter the source, once you're infected with the T-virus, you'll turn into the same kind of monster. The development prospects of the T-virus are very solid."

"I've heard the strongest product that can be created from the T-virus is the Tyrant project. Is that true? Such a shame, I actually wanted to see them," Ada said.

Hearing her words made Allen's eyes twitch slightly. This woman seems pretty fierce, Allen thought.

Ada then looked back at Allen. "Have you ever seen them?"

"Yes, I've seen them when I encountered one of Spencer's bodyguards," Allen answered with a nod.

"But in truth, those bioweapons are just byproducts of the T-serum. The original goal of the T-serum was to enhance the human body and grant longevity. And when the U.S. government learned about this early on, they became interested in using the project to create super soldiers. So they lobbied some Umbrella executives and invested in the project."

"Ohhh, no wonder I've seen some government agents who also seem to want data from those samples," Ada said, finally understanding why The Family and the government were competing to seize the T-virus and G-virus samples.

"Yeah, it seems their ultimate target is Umbrella," Allen replied.

"Even so, it seems the serum they developed isn't that great—just capable of creating biochemical weapons, nothing really special about it," Ada said, already losing interest in the serum.

"Yeah, their serum is just a failed product. Not everyone has the privilege of adapting to the mutations caused by that virus," Allen replied.

Hearing that, Ada grew a little suspicious. Why would Allen say something like that? Did he have his own project? And if she thought about it more, she couldn't help but be suspicious of all of Allen's wives—especially remembering how Artemis could freely walk in the forests of the Arklay Mountains without a single bodyguard.

"Allen… do you also have a secret you've never told me? You don't even seem interested in Umbrella's research. You look like you're only working there for fun. Do you have something of your own—or maybe a serum better than Umbrella's?"

"Maybe," Allen answered with a smile.

Ada's eyes grew sharper, one eyebrow raising. "Would you mind sharing it with me?" she asked in a teasing tone.

But Allen shook his head. "Sorry, you're not someone close enough for me to reveal that little curiosity of yours."

The moment Allen said that—Swish!—a knife suddenly flew toward him, stopping at his neck. A thin line of blood trickled down his skin.

"How about now?" Ada said, giving a subtle threat.

But Allen's eyes showed no interest in Ada's intimidation games. He just sat there, calm and unbothered. Even so he's a bit of a spechles with her random behavior.

"Come on, Ada, I'm not interested in your little games," Allen said, then reached out to touch her hand.

"I'm serious, Allen. Don't even think about moving your hand. Will you really still refuse to tell me, or~"

"Or what?" Allen asked, curious, gently holding Ada's wrist and trying to ease the knife from her grip.

When Ada saw the small trickle of blood sliding down Allen's neck, reality hit her—she realized what she had just done to the man who had saved her several times. Finally, she released the knife.

"A-ah… forgive me, Allen. I didn't mean to hurt you," Ada said.

"It's fine. Just be more careful next time," Allen replied, wiping the wound with a tissue that quickly sealed the cut.

Ada's eyes widened in surprise. "You… are you using the T-serum?"

But Allen shook his head. "No. I don't use Umbrella's artificial serum. Only fools would rely on such an unstable product," he said calmly.
