CHAPTER 100: THE URGES VS THE NECESSITIES

After the meeting with Daniel and the call from the head of JP Morgan’s private banking department, Liam’s day went by quickly and slowly, as he spent the whole day busy playing Eternal Realms.

Yeah, he will admit it, he was addicted but who can blame him? Playing a game with such realism, one would easily get addicted.

He was actually starting to imagine how much dissatisfaction he will earn from the users for the time usage limit he plans to impose on them.

This was especially with how content-rich the game is. They might actually petition for the time limit to be lifted and try to force his hand. And things might get even more intense when they start earning actual money from the game. Not from streaming but by either selling the in-game items or when in-game currency gain actual value.

But the question is if Liam will cave into the pressure they will mount on him. And the answer is a solid no.

He already made a decision and he will be firm on it. He can’t be wishy-washy about it or the users might think that they can push for anything and they will have it.

It’s just as the saying goes: "If you give them an inch, they will want a mile."

He also doesn’t mind if they take the company to court. He was more confident that they won’t win even if someone pull some strings.

But the main question remains: when will Liam release the device into the market? And the answer to that question is that he has no idea.

Not that he doesn’t exactly have any idea when as he already have vague date in his mind, but he has no idea because he doesn’t want to release the device before the family office is set up by Daniel.

He had previously planned to release it like two weeks after the raw materials arrived at the industrial base at Nevada, but that was before when Daniel was just the head of his private banking team. But now working on setting up the family office, he want to release it after his shield has been set up and sturdy to help him bear the brunt of the wave that will come for him.

Actually, the truth is that Liam wants to release the device immediately, but he knew better than to be reckless. He knew that things will get heated with the release of the device. It’s going to be a type of heat that has a high chance of destroying his misunderstood and perceived identity.

Which means that he needs something more tangible than just that. And that thing isn’t something that a private banker would be able to give him.

He will need a family office for the legal firepower part that will come, as people love litigations. He will also need it for political shielding and PR management.

In other words, if he rushed the launch before the Family Office existed, he’d be exposed and become vulnerable to lawsuits, hostile takeovers, government seizures, or just being crushed under corporate pressure.

Now, one might ask why Liam didn’t start small? Like maybe creating something that’s not too disruptive but still a little groundbreaking? And his answer to that is why?

Why settle for less? He has a level of knowledge that that can will shock even the best of those in the science community, so why should he start small?

Besides, it’s not like the Gear Glass is a technology that’s completely new. It’s just a major advancement of already existing technologies, and the best to ever exist even in the future.

"But really, when exactly can I release the device?" Liam asked himself, as he looked out the window, enjoying the magnificent view of the night sky.

Thanks to his super enhanced vision, courtesy of the newly acquired Eagle’s vision trait, he could see quite far into the night sky.

"Maybe I should had taken Mrs Fletcher’s offer...," he said, and then shook his head the next moment.

Nahhhh... That won’t work. It’s better for me and them this way.

"Sigh... but I really want to release the device soon. Should I ask Daniel for the timeframe of the family office set up?" He said, thinking to himself.

He thought about it for a while and shook his head. He doesn’t want to rush Daniel or pressure him. He has already taken care of everything else that needs to be taken care of, and there was no need to rush.

But this wasn’t entirely about Gear Glass release into the market. It was also about the new car and the aircraft. He would be lying if he said that he wasn’t in a hurry to take both out for a spin. But he also understand that he can’t just do that. It was just like the device.

Ahh... So many restrictions,

Liam sighed.

While he was still thinking of that, he thought of something else; accumulating his sign-ins.

The reason why he had refused to let it accumulate before was because of the money he needed to purchase the molecular assembler. But now that he had done that and also quite a bit of funds remaining, it was time to let it accumulate.

He also remembered that the system said that he can accumulate more sign-ins for better rewards. Also, Liam was curious to see how much more better the sign-in rewards can get.

I guess that’s settled then. I will be accumulating my sign-ins for the rest of the week, until the last day of the week which is also my first monthly sign-in.

Talking about his first monthly sign-in, Liam was dey me curious about how it will go. He was curious to see what sort of mind blowing rewards he would receive. But he knew that he can only wait and see.

"Time to sleep," Liam said, as he placed the Gear Glass on the nightstand and snuggled more comfortably into his bed.

He had spent the whole day gaming, it wouldn’t feel right to game in his sleep tonight. Tomorrow’s another day and he can continue when he wakes up.

Closing his eyes, Liam fell asleep almost immediately, with the sound of his soft breathing filling the room.

The next morning.

After waking up, Liam walked to the bathroom to clean up. After he was done with that, he got dressed and went down for breakfast.

It was delicious as always, and he enjoyed it. He thanked Evelyn for the meal and came back to his room after he was done.

He sat down on the bed and put on the Gear Glass. And a couple seconds later, he heard Lucy’s voice.

"Good morning, sir," she greeted.

"Good morning, Lucy. Anything new information for me?" Liam asked.

"Yes, sir. The starfish regenerative trait infusion had been completed."
