Chapter 113: The Twins on The Rescue
CHAPTER 113: THE TWINS ON THE RESCUE
On the same day, at the elementary school, Fiona and Iris sat quietly in their classroom. Both kept glancing at the clock on the wall at the front of the class while continuing to write. A moment later, the bell rang, signaling it was time to go home.
Fiona and Iris’s faces immediately lit up, and they quickly put their books into their bags. After standing to salute the teacher, the teacher left the room. The students then started filing out, lining up toward the front door of the school building, accompanied by the teacher.
Fiona and Iris walked side-by-side, holding hands, but Fiona suddenly turned to look aside because she felt someone watching her. She was startled to see a janitor observing her from behind a wall, and when their eyes met, the janitor pretended to look elsewhere and sweep. Fiona immediately turned to Iris.
"Iris, I think someone is watching us," Fiona said.
"Huh... really?" Iris asked, turning toward the direction Fiona pointed.
"Hey, don’t look directly like that," Fiona said, holding Iris’s cheek and turning her face back forward.
"Oops... sorry, but I’ve never seen that uncle before," Iris said.
"Me neither. Come on, hurry up, let’s go home," Fiona replied.
They immediately walked quickly, still holding hands, following the line. When they reached the front door of the school building, they saw many parents waiting to pick up their children. Fiona and Iris immediately looked around, and when they saw Megan, who now looked like a human, standing among the parents, they immediately ran to meet Megan.
"Let’s go home, Megan," Fiona said.
"Yeah, hurry up and let’s go," Iris added.
"Hmm? What is it? Why do your faces look scared?" Megan asked, confused.
"I’ll tell you later, let’s just go home now," Fiona answered.
"Yeah, you’re right, let’s go home," Iris added.
"Alright, let’s go home then," Megan replied, smiling.
Then the three of them walked toward the school gate. Fiona and Iris kept looking back. They saw the new janitor come out from the side and walk slowly toward the school gate, wearing a hat and looking down so his face wasn’t visible. Fiona and Iris could then see that the janitor was watching the children who were still standing at the school building door and hadn’t been picked up yet, as he stopped just before reaching the gate.
"Ngek,"
Megan suddenly jolted to a stop. She turned to look at Fiona and Iris, who were holding her hand, stopping and looking inside the gate. Then Megan looked in the direction Fiona and Iris were staring.
"What is it?" Megan asked, looking at the janitor.
"Just look, that person is watching our friends who haven’t been picked up at the school door," Fiona said.
"Yeah, it looks like he has bad intentions. I just saw that uncle for the first time today," Iris added.
"Hmm... I see," Megan said, starting to observe the janitor seriously.
Then the three of them didn’t go home right away; they stood behind a wall, peeking inside like spies. The janitor was seen going back and forth to the side of the school building, carrying a trash bag and pretending to pick up scattered trash along his way. The three of them continued to watch the janitor seriously.
"But there’s a lot of trash right up front near the gate," Fiona said.
"Yeah, why is he going back and forth to the side of the building, which is already clean? That’s weird," Iris said.
Megan didn’t say anything; she just stood still in the back, watching the two little twin girls peek inside. But her eyes occasionally glanced toward the janitor. When all the students and their parents had left and a few cars had exited the gate, the three of them could see the janitor approach a little girl who looked about seven years old and was sitting on a long bench, swinging her feet, waiting to be picked up.
The janitor seemed to be talking to the little girl. Of course, the girl looked cheerful, happy to be talked to by someone. Fiona and Iris continued to watch the janitor they didn’t know. A moment later, the little girl jumped down from the bench and walked to the side of the school, holding hands with the janitor.
"Come on, Iris, let’s follow them," Fiona said.
"Yeah, come on, Megan," Iris replied, holding Megan’s hand.
"Alright," Megan replied.
They immediately walked back inside the school gate and then walked to the side of the school building. They peeked to the side from behind a wall and saw the janitor leading the little girl toward the back of the school.
"Do you guys know that girl?" Megan asked.
"Her name is Harper, she’s one grade below us," Iris answered.
"Yeah, that’s right, we know her because we did gym class together once," Fiona added.
"Alright, let’s follow them," Megan replied, her face now serious.
The three of them immediately followed the janitor and Harper, who was being led away. When they got to the back, they saw the janitor take Harper into the janitor’s room, which was located behind the school. Megan, Iris, and Fiona immediately ran toward the isolated, box-like building in the back that looked like a storage shed where the janitors kept their equipment. Megan peeked through the window while Fiona and Iris peeked through the keyhole of the door.
Inside, the janitor was seen giving Harper some bread, and Harper, who seemed hungry, immediately started eating it. But while Harper was happily eating, the janitor suddenly took out a white handkerchief and poured something onto it. Fiona and Iris could see the janitor smiling at Harper, and they were shocked because the janitor’s face looked very malicious, as if he had bad intentions toward Harper. Without further delay, "blak," Fiona and Iris abruptly pushed the door open.
The janitor looked toward the door, startled. Even Harper, who was eating, flinched and nearly dropped the bread in her hands. Harper looked stunned at Fiona and Iris, who looked angry; she became a little scared seeing them.
"Harper, come here! Don’t get close to that man," Fiona yelled.
"Yeah, over here, quick," Iris replied.
"Y-yes," Harper replied, nodding.
Harper immediately jumped down from the chair and walked toward Fiona and Iris, but after only a few steps, the janitor suddenly grabbed Harper from behind. The janitor’s face looked panicked and annoyed. He pulled a knife out of his pocket and pressed it across Harper’s throat, making Harper drop her bread and look terrified.
"You two get over here, or I’ll kill her," the janitor shouted at Fiona and Iris.
"Hey... let her go," Fiona screamed, pointing at Harper.
"Yeah, let her go," Iris added, pointing at Harper.
"P-please," Harper said, trembling with fear.
The janitor raised his knife and deliberately pressed it against Harper’s neck until Harper trembled and closed her eyes, as if ready to have her throat cut by the janitor behind her. Fiona and Iris held hands and looked at each other, but before they could move, they saw the janitor’s face instantly lose all color and suddenly turn pale, as if he was looking at something truly horrific in front of him.
"Klang,"
The janitor dropped his knife and backed away, releasing Harper. Fiona and Iris immediately rushed forward, pulled Harper to them, and hugged her. After that, they turned to see Megan, who now looked like a marionette with four arms, scissor-like hands, and the lower half of her body resembling a spider.
"Aaaaah..."
Harper immediately screamed, but Fiona and Iris covered her mouth. Megan walked past the three of them, who were kneeling on the floor, approaching the janitor who was now backed up against the wall. His hat fell off, allowing Fiona, Iris, and Harper to see the janitor’s bald head and the tattoo on it.
"W-what... no... no way... back up... back up," the janitor stuttered, terrified.
"Kreeeek,"
Megan opened her mouth incredibly wide, all the way to the floor, looking utterly terrifying. Fiona and Iris squeezed their eyes shut, their hands covering Harper’s eyes.
"P-please... don’t... don’t," the janitor screamed.
But the janitor’s scream suddenly stopped short. Fiona and Iris slowly opened their eyes, blinked, and then their eyes went wide. The reason was that they saw Megan had returned to her human form and appeared to be elegantly wiping her mouth with a handkerchief, while the janitor was nowhere to be seen. Megan then looked at Fiona and Iris and smiled.
"Shall we go home, Miss Fiona, Miss Iris?" Megan said.
"Oh, okay, is it safe now?" Fiona asked.
"Harper is safe, right?" Iris asked.
"Everything is taken care of, don’t worry," Megan replied with a friendly smile.
"You’re safe, Harper... ah." Fiona looked at Harper and realized Harper had fainted and looked extremely scared. Megan then picked Harper up and carried her, then brought Harper back to the front of the school building with Fiona and Iris walking by her side. They then saw a blonde woman who looked like Harper talking to a teacher by the front door of the school building.
When the woman turned and saw Megan carrying Harper, she immediately covered her mouth with her hand and ran toward Megan with the teacher. Fiona and Iris immediately told the teacher and Harper’s mother everything that happened, but they said the janitor ran away, smiling and winking at Megan as they did so.
