Little Rina was currently in the babbling stage, unlike Haruki, who could fall asleep at any hour. Rina had been lively since she was small, always moving around in Erina’s arms, looking here and there. When Senzaemon Nakiri approached, Rina’s little eyes watched him, then reddened. The Old Man’s beard was long, and children, not yet having fixed impressions, saw long beards as no different from monsters. As soon as the Old Man came closer, Rina turned her head and buried it in Erina’s chest, terrified.

Erina evidently didn’t notice Rina’s emotions because the old man before her was the grandfather who had cared for her for most of her life. Seeing the Old Man wanting to hold Rina, she naturally handed the squirming Rina over. This created a problem. Rina was currently in a state of ’fear’ of an unknown creature. In her world, she had finally established the concept of ’Mommy’ and ’Daddy,’ and felt exceptionally close to Renz and Erina.

Yet, she felt that the mother holding her was about to give her to a ’strange creature,’ a ’monster,’ and she immediately burst into tears with a "wah." This left Senzaemon Nakiri feeling quite awkward. Who would have thought that picking up his great-granddaughter would result in such a crying spectacle?

"Don’t cry, don’t cry," Senzaemon Nakiri gently comforted, carefully patting Rina, trying to make her stop crying.

He tried his best to smile and amuse Rina, but the more the Old Man made such gestures, the more Rina’s tears flowed uncontrollably. Senzaemon Nakiri immediately became flustered; he hadn’t encountered this situation when taking care of Erina as a child. The Old Man immediately thought of a good idea: he pushed Rina back towards Erina, letting Erina hold Rina again, hoping to soothe little Rina’s uneasy emotions.

Erina didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Rina was such a lively little girl; was she really that afraid of strangers as a baby? Crying non-stop just from being held by the Old Man. Erina quickly reached out and picked up Rina, but by this point, Rina’s emotions were already soaring, and she couldn’t stop. The mist of tears around her aggrieved little eyes never faded.

She now thought Erina was terribly ’bad,’ throwing her to a strange creature, a monster. As Erina held her, Rina’s two small hands pushed against Erina’s chest, as if she wanted to ’jump out.’ She didn’t want Mommy. Rina cried non-stop, Erina’s comforting was useless, and her movements only made things worse. Erina was now in a difficult situation. The happy family atmosphere was completely destroyed by Rina’s crying.

"Let me hold her," Renz reached out, wanting to take Rina, who was fussing in Erina’s arms.

"Her temper is up now, she’s very fierce, you won’t be able to handle her," Erina said grumpily. As her mother, she knew Rina had a bad temper, but she never expected that five-month-old Rina had already developed such a fiery temperament, crying and throwing tantrums at the slightest disagreement. Nevertheless, Erina still handed Rina over to Renz.

As soon as Renz took her, Rina, who had been crying nonstop, was like a drowning person finding a lifeline.

Her hands spread open, firmly grasping Renz’s suit tie.

Renz himself hadn’t expected such a miraculous effect just by doing nothing. He playfully stuck out his tongue at Rina in his arms, smiling.

"Daddy’s here, Daddy will play with you."

Rina, who had been crying miserably just moments before, not only stopped her tears but, while staring at Renz’s face, her little mouth slowly curved upwards.

Although still a little choked up, her emotions were much more stable.

"Cries then laughs, like a little dummy," Erina said, seeing this scene, feeling a bit helpless. Did giving birth to a daughter mean she was just going to make her angry? Is a five-month-old already learning to annoy her own mother? Rina didn’t understand what Erina was saying, but from the tone, she could tell it wasn’t good.

Infants have few ways to express dissatisfaction, and crying is definitely the most primitive and essential protest. Her face, which had just calmed down, began to accumulate tears again. Who knows how many tears this little one can shed.

"Don’t be mean to the child," Renz felt like he was defusing a bomb while someone kept stepping on landmines next to him.

"Are you being mean to me now?" Erina stared at Renz.

"How dare I?" Renz sighed. Erina was usually quite gentle at home, but when it came to issues concerning the children, she would easily get worked up. If he was too good to the children, Erina would feel that Renz wasn’t good enough to her. This was a deadlock. On one side was his little darling, on the other was his big darling.

Perhaps sensing her father being reprimanded, Rina glared at Erina with a look of displeasure, though her two hands never loosened their grip on Renz’s tie.

Unfortunately, it didn’t do much.

In terms of family hierarchy, Renz was in the third tier: first tier was Erina, second tier was Rina and Mirai, third tier was Renz, and fourth tier was the two silly sons. Could the second tier plus the third tier even compare to the single first tier? No, it would take the second tier + third tier + fourth tier all standing together to even contend with the single first tier.

However, usually, when the whole family was on the verge of rebellion, Erina would humbly admit her mistake beforehand.

"Papa," Rina suddenly spoke in Renz’s arms, though her pronunciation was very unclear. This sudden exclamation caught the attention of Renz, Erina, and the Old Man. Renz himself was momentarily bewildered.

"What did Rina just say?" Erina asked, somewhat uncertain.

"It sounds like she’s calling me?" Renz’s emotions were also stirred. Every child’s first words are a very important moment. Perhaps it was because Renz heard this cry, his mouth and expression showed surprise and a smile. Rina slowly realized that such a cry could bring joy to her father, so she tried again, tentatively.

"Papa."

It was a bit mumbled, and the pronunciation was still unclear, but as Rina spoke, her hand was still playing with Renz’s tie. This almost certainly confirmed what word Rina had said.

"Rina called me Papa!" Renz’s smile gradually became unrestrained. Just yesterday, he was debating with Erina about who Rina would call first, and today Rina actually said "Papa." They had argued endlessly over this topic, ’childishly’ even betting their respective allowances. Rina uttering this word sealed Renz’s victory. Although he didn’t know why this happened, the outcome was that he had completely triumphed over Erina.

"My little darling, Daddy loves you to death," Renz said to Rina with a smile, then raised his eyebrows at Erina, a highly provocative expression. Simply put, Renz was currently quite smug. Riding high.
