Renz performed with the precision of a machine. This was partly due to Erina’s "pressure"; if he failed to cook well, his wife would genuinely starve herself (albeit unwillingly), and Renz deeply cared for Erina’s health.

Therefore, no matter the dish, he had to make it perfectly, or at least edible for Erina.

"No need to test it," Akira Hayama declared bluntly. "I thought Erina-ojousama chose me for my ability, to be the head chef for this training. It turns out I was overthinking."

"Renz, it seems you’re the one who was hiding their true depth among us."

Akira Hayama recognized the disparity in skill. He now understood that Erina had chosen him because he had more distinctive qualities than others, a sharper sense of smell, and expertise with spices, making him an excellent support chef. She had never considered him for the head chef position; he was merely there to assist Renz.

"Your ’Buddha’s Temptation’ should easily sell well in the Gourmet Street," Akira Hayama commented, even before tasting it. His nose had already given him the correct answer.

"Is ’Buddha’s Temptation’ our main dish for this event?"

Akira Hayama asked, pointing to it.

"How could it be ’Buddha’s Temptation’?" Renz said, resigned. Buddha’s Temptation wasn’t suitable as a bestseller. First, its preparation was intricate, and second, it took too long to cook. Selling it as the main

attraction would only create obstacles.

"Then why did you make this dish?" Akira Hayama asked, puzzled.

"Because ’Buddha’s Temptation’ easily reveals a chef’s fundamental skills," Erina explained. "Knife skills can be observed in the preparation of sea cucumber, pig trotters, and ribs. The plating of each small component reveals one’s plating technique. And most importantly, Buddha’s Temptation tests the ability to control the broth’s flavor and cooking temperature."

"This also tests spice handling and overall cooking ability," she continued. "Making Buddha’s Temptation allows almost all fundamental techniques to be displayed. That’s why Renz chose to make it in front of you."

"My dear wife said it all perfectly," Renz affirmed, nodding. "To reward you, you can have this finished Buddha’s Temptation. If you can’t finish it, I’ll eat the rest."

"Don’t be glib," Erina rolled her eyes. If she didn’t understand Renz’s intentions by now, her life would be a waste.

"The current problem is, what kind of dish is most marketable and can sell quickly on the Gourmet Street?"

Erina pointed out. "Buddha’s Temptation doesn’t have that quality."

"What kind of clientele does Totsuki Resort serve?" Akira Hayama posed a sharp question.

"All kinds of people," Erina quickly replied.

"My idea is to make relatively comprehensive dishes," Renz suggested. "If we only sell ’Buddha’s Temptation,’ our target demographic would be limited to high-spending customers."

"However, I’ve thought of a pretty good consumption model," Renz mused. "How about we simply prepare a variety of ready-made dishes and sell them at set prices? Customers can then pick what they want from the display based on their needs."

"Isn’t that just a cafeteria?" Akira Hayama interjected.

"Yes, it’s a cafeteria. Mostly, creating a systematic set of signature dishes, like a specialized restaurant, is too troublesome," Renz said, pouting. "Then putting prices on these dishes and making them into a menu for customers to order from."

"That approach somewhat limits individual ability and is quite troublesome to operate. It also directly restricts the customer base: those who like specific style of food will come, and those who don’t won’t," Renz explained his concept. "Instead, let’s designate the left row of empty spaces for Eastern cuisine and the right row for Western cuisine."

"On the left side, we can further categorize each area: one for vegetarian dishes, one for meat dishes, and so on. We prepare all our dishes, price them, and display them. Customers just pick what they want, which saves us trouble," Renz elaborated on his plan.

"Then, Alice and I will be responsible for Western cuisine, and you and Hayama will be responsible for Eastern cuisine," Erina stated.

"What about me?" Hisako asked, raising her hand.

"Hisako, you can prepare some medicinal cuisine for Renz’s area, but if you don’t want to, just help look after Rina," Erina replied after a moment of thought.

Akira Hayama felt like spitting blood. She had agreed to Renz’s suggestion just like that. You two really are two peas in a pod, aren’t you? This decision seemed incredibly hasty. Making whatever dishes they wanted and placing them in their respective sections for customers to grab what a lazy way to run a restaurant.

However, it sounded rather convenient?

"Then, it’s decided!" Renz, hearing Erina’s approval of his idea, immediately slammed his hand down, confirming the plan.

"You’re the head of the household, so what you say goes," Erina said, giving Renz face. In public, she maintained a "virtuous" demeanor, obediently following behind Renz.

Akira Hayama’s eyes nearly popped out at this sight.

"???" Is this still the same Erina? Normally, Erina runs a one-woman show, constantly offering differing opinions, negating others while presenting her own solutions, leaving no room for rebuttal because she never gives anyone a chance to speak. She’s incredibly domineering.

Is this what a married woman is like?

This transformation is terrifying.

Just then, Renz tore a small opening in the lotus leaf sealing the "Buddha’s Temptation." A rich, mellow aroma filled the entire kitchen.

"Erina, do you want to eat some?" Renz asked for her opinion.

"I don’t particularly like ’Buddha’s Temptation’," Erina shook her head. "The old recipes taste very strange."

"I’ve improved it," Renz added. "If you don’t like it, I won’t make it again. This dish takes quite a lot of time."

"Improved? Then I’ll try some," Erina felt a pang of tenderness for Renz. To ensure she could enjoy most of his cooking, Renz put immense effort into every dish, constantly refining them to suit her specific tastes. This truly required not only time but also considerable perseverance and energy.

Erina picked up a spoon and gently scooped up some of the special "Buddha’s Temptation" broth. She put it in her mouth, and an unexpectedly exquisite freshness burst forth.

"How is it?" Renz asked expectantly. "This broth is the most essential part of my ’Buddha’s Temptation’."

Erina offered no verbal comment. Instead, she used the spoon to scoop up another mouthful of soup. Her actions conveyed her enjoyment.

"My God’s Tongue,"

"is satisfied again today."

Erina smiled faintly. "What do you want for dinner? I’ll make it for you."

Hmph.

Renz’s demands for food were low, as he didn’t possess the God’s Tongue. However, Erina’s cooking was also superb, and it had been a long time since he had tasted her dishes as head chef.

"I want the simplest egg fried rice."

Alice reached out and scratched her short silver hair.
