There were more and more notifications—some about the dragon heart, the other about something else. Just like so, many more important things actually mattered, and maybe if it was anyone else, or even me, but in another world, then those achievements would have greatly mattered, but to the current me, and in this world, on top of that, none of that held that much weight.
What I desperately wished to see was nothing else but this. The other? Well, sure, they were an added bonus, but this was the main highlight. Even though it was in reverse according to the system.
Finally, with pride, I could say.
“I am a man.”
“…”
That was a bit embarrassing. Standing in the middle of the forest, naked at that, with everything quiet under the cover of the night, which was eerily quiet, not even the sound of insects, I felt a little strange for doing that.
But it was fulfilling as hell.
Anyway, putting all the childish remarks and the immense happiness aside, I needed to calm myself down. I didn’t know how much time had passed or if the search for me would have begun by now or not. Or it could have also been so that the search for me had already ended in nothing, and I was already declared dead.
In that case, I needed to cook up a story. A convincing one because it needed to match the story that could also be believed for the baron and the lord. I somehow, miraculously, survived, while they were not so lucky.
The classic and simplest method was to blame it on a demonic beast or a demon, but if none were found, it would spell trouble for me.
For now, I’ll just roam the forest and look for a cave or something. Then I would have to set it up to make it look like I really was held there, and finally, return to the city with a few injuries and my body shaking like a leaf. Nothing I hadn’t done before.
During my days of the hunt, I had already discovered a few prime locations where a bunch of strong beasts were. I just needed to go there and set it up. I went there and did as I had planned. It wasn’t much to do, a little blood here and a little blood there.
A few corpses that I purposely hadn’t used, one of which belonged to the Baron, since he was a useless weakling to me. And viola. A murderous cave of an intelligent beast or a wicked demon was done.
Now all that remained was to return to the town and deal with everything. And so, I embarked on my path to return. Of course, I didn’t injure myself yet, but saved that for when I would be near the town.
But one thing had been bugging me since earlier.
Animals or monsters were one thing, but why were there no insects? Wasn’t the forest a little quiet?
Ominously quiet.
I could breathe, but there wasn’t any of it.
The rsutling.
The trees weren’t moving either. Now I was starting to get a little worried.
I made my way back to the town, but just in case, I passed through the area where Cassandra and I, along with the party, had set up camp last time.
It was just in case, just to cover every scenario, but what I saw kind of left me not only puzzled, but kind of a little scared too.
Looking at Cassandra and Lucas, who were as if they were frozen, no, more like paused mid movement, I could only say one thing.
‘They’re definitely kissing.’

“AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!”
A woman shrieked, her angered scream echoing through the hallways of the palace where she resided. Before him lay a broken stone from which particles of light emitted, as if evaporating in the air.
“NO! NO! NO! NO! WHAT HAVE I DONE?! WHAT HAVE I DONEEEEEE!!!!”
The storm of mana that was emitted from her destroyed everything in her surroundings, the stone included, which was already destroyed a great deal but now just evaporated in this air due to the devastating assault of mana.
She didn’t calm down for quite some time, perhaps days, and the damage done in those days would have been catastrophic, but…
“YOU THINK YOU CAN KEEP ME HERE?!!! MARK MY WORDS!!! I WILL COME OUT!!! AND I WILL
DESTROY YOU!!! ALLLLLL OFFFFF YYYYYOOOOUUUUU!!!!”
Her anger couldn’t go past a certain limit. Or to be more accurate, her radius of anger couldn’t. She was stuck, imprisoned in a certain space, containing her immense power, which once was hailed as the power of the strongest gods, before she went mad and did something unthinkable.
“I will destroy you…” In the end, after a few days, her energy was drained to a great extent. But her resolve didn’t end. Even until she passed out from the exertion of mana, her words didn’t change.

“What happened?” A man entered a room, a pristine room with a blend of white and blue marble. The light that fell on them reflected throughout the room, creating a charming and cozy atmosphere, but the atmosphere of the people in the room was anything by cozy.
“She failed again.” The woman who seemed to be the head of all the people in the room replied.
“Why would she create those abominations?” A short man with a beard couldn’t help but lament at the fact that the woman she used to admire had turned into a madwoman who sought to create something that went against the morals of the world itself.
“We have no other choice than to keep her imprisoned.” Another woman said, to which most of them in the room agreed.
“Then, should we discuss the batch this time?” A distractingly charming man with pointy ears asked. Had he been on earth, or on any other world, his beauty would have been unrivaled, but unfortunately, in that world, there was little to discrimination between those with beauty and those without.
“What is there to discuss?” Another woman asked. Her pointy ears were the same as the man and the charm she exuded was the same, but where the man was creamy white, she was dark, shadowy in skin color.
“We need to decide what to discard and who not to. We do not wish to reenact the incident that happened sixteen years ago.” The elven man said.
“We will not be discarding anything. Or anyone.” Another woman said, the last woman who hadn’t said anything so far.
“The accident years ago was just that. An accident.” The woman who had initiated the conversation and seemed like the head said. “So far, there hasn’t been anything.”
“Yes, that is so---” Suddenly, everyone stopped.
Not just them, everything in the world stopped.
And at that moment, the earth trembled. The sky split apart and beams of light fell on the ground, forming light blue dimension portals that did nothing but emit strong magical energy from them.
And then the sky mended back together, as if nothing had happened, and those gates that had appeared disappeared on their own once again, as if they were nothing but an illusion.
The world, unaffected by whatever had happened, was blissfully unaware that the end of the world was now one step closer.
And the one who was a catalyst to that process was looking at a scene that…
“Kind of ticks me off.”
