CHAPTER 48: CHAPTER 44: INSTALL A CAMERA? I’M NOT BLIND!

So what if you’re the boss? Does being the boss make you so impressive? Does being the boss mean you can do as you please? I don’t give a damn about your boss status today, what are you gonna do about it?

Chu Tian looked at the latest message and lost his temper as well.

Think you’re something special just because you’re the boss? Where do you get that sense of superiority?

He didn’t indulge the other person and directly sent another message back.

"I don’t care whether you approve or not. I have things to do today, and I’ve already told you, I’m not coming in even if it means skipping work."

Oh, so you’ll skip work and not show up, is that it? Fine, skip it then.

Xu Qingqiu also got worked up, typing furiously and sending the message in one go.

"You skip work, I’ll deduct your pay!"

Chu Tian refused to show weakness and responded in kind.

"Deduct it then, who’s afraid of you?"

"I’ll deduct double!"

"Deducting pay is illegal. Just you watch yourself. Think being a boss makes you invincible?"

"I’ll deduct half a month’s pay! Talk more and I’ll deduct a month!"

"..."

"Boss, that’s enough. I’m on my way to the office now."

Chu Tian caved. He had no choice.

He would have liked to stand his ground; he’d even contemplated quitting.

After all, his monthly salary was over twenty thousand, and the apartment was rented for him by Xu Qingqiu without him having to spend a penny. Logically, he should have saved quite a bit of money this year, right?

But what was the reality? He had no idea what his body’s previous occupant was thinking, blowing his whole salary on games as soon as it was paid. This made him a VIP in the game world but a complete loser in real life.

Forget about money; if there were even three digits in his bank account, he’d consider it a miracle. He was just waiting for this month’s salary.

If only he had some income from a novel or something, he wouldn’t be so spineless.

But reality was harsher than he could handle. What could he do?

In life, there’s no need to be so stubborn. Being too rigid can lead to breaking, and bowing your head once in a while isn’t the end of the world.

Nothing more to say. Wipe my tears, hurry up, and change clothes for work.

Looking at the messages on her phone, Xu Qingqiu suddenly found herself feeling inexplicably happy again.

She couldn’t explain why, but seeing Chu Tian at a loss always brought her inexplicable joy. She didn’t know if it was a perverse delight or love turned sour, but she was extremely happy at the moment.

"Yiyi, grab your stuff. Let’s go practice singing."

"Alright, Sister Qiu."

The two of them clip-clopped their way toward the recording studio, while Chu Tian was still miserably catching the bus heading in the same direction.

Having just arrived at the office, he glanced around. Not spotting Xu Qingqiu, he felt an unexpected sense of relief.

He took another look at the main office area; it was also empty.

Perfect!

He settled at his workstation, powered up the computer, and gathered his thoughts while waiting for it to boot up.

Since I can’t take leave to see an agent, I can no longer delay matters of copyright.

I need the income myself. Sometimes it’s important to have cash on hand, like right now.

After turning on the computer, he searched for the copyright center’s website and went straight to it. He then took out all the songs he had acquired from his inventory over the past few days and began registering their copyrights on his computer one by one.

Fortunately, the copyright registration process was simple; he just had to follow the prompts and submit the required materials.

The rest was to wait for the review to pass and then receive the copyright registration numbers.

Having dealt with all this, just when he found himself with nothing to do, a pretty young woman from the company came walking gracefully toward him, carrying a stack of documents.

What’s going on? My desk is in a secluded spot with few people around, aside from that chubby guy nearby. Is she coming for me? To hit on me? Surely not to give me work, right? If that stack of documents in her hand is for me, just looking at it would make my eyes go blurry.

"Chu Tian."

It’s over. Is she really looking for me?

"Chu Tian, the boss just said that someone is coming to install surveillance cameras later. She asked me to tell you, if you’re here, to keep an eye on the installation. After it’s done, go find her in the recording studio."

After hearing this, Chu Tian inexplicably breathed a sigh of relief.

Thank goodness it’s not paperwork.

But wait, why install cameras all of a sudden?

"Why are we installing surveillance cameras?"

"I don’t know. Maybe something got lost? I heard some people saying someone went into the boss’s office before. I’m not clear on the details either."

The pretty young woman shrugged and left after relaying the message.

This... It’s not to catch me, is it?

The one who went into the boss’s office... as far as I know, that was me, right?

Could it really be to catch me?

"Excuse me, we’re here to install the monitoring system. Who should we look for?"

Just as he was pondering this, a couple of men approached the door. One was in work clothes and a safety helmet, holding a bunch of equipment, followed by another person carrying a black tool bag.

"Ah, you can talk to me. Where do you need to install them?"

"Oh, great. We’ll need your help then. Here’s the schematic, and this is the spot for installation. Could you point it out for us and see if anything needs to be moved? We might have to shift tables or something for the ladder in a bit."

Jeez, are they really here to catch me? And so well-prepared too!

Looking at the schematic handed to him by the workers, Chu Tian was speechless.

Is this really necessary? I just sent a few songs. After getting such a great deal, why do they still need to find out who sent them?

Isn’t it better to just enjoy the benefits quietly without getting to the bottom of it?

He was truly at a loss for words. Now that things had come to this, what could he do but cooperate obediently?

For the rest of the day, Chu Tian found himself accompanying the workers as they darted up and down. Of course, he wasn’t the one darting around; he was merely observing as others bustled about their tasks.

And you know what, it was quite interesting. He watched them for so long he felt like he’d almost learned how to do it himself.

It’s sort of like watching those donkey hoof repair videos; kind of stress-relieving, what’s up with that?

When the installation was nearly complete, one of the workers said, "Young man, could you please go and check with your boss to see if this is okay? Also, we need to connect the surveillance equipment and decide on the best place for the monitor."

"Alright, just a moment."

When he reached the recording studio, someone was practicing vocals inside. Chu Tian knocked on the door before entering.

"Boss, the surveillance system is installed. They want you to take a look."

Xu Qingqiu glanced at him, haughtily lifted her chin with a cool expression, and simply said, "Okay," before walking out directly.

Even as she passed by him, she didn’t pause, leaving only a faint, pleasant fragrance in her wake.

Chu Tian watched her retreating figure speechlessly. Is this the same person who was crying her eyes out yesterday? he wondered. Indeed, women are fickle. She changed way too fast.

After that, Xu Qingqiu communicated with the installation technicians. Not only did they add a monitor in her office, but they also connected the system directly to her phone, allowing her to watch the surveillance video in real-time at any moment.

Right under my nose, I watched them meticulously design a 360-degree, no-blind-spot surveillance network, all to find me.

Pfft, what a waste of effort.

It really was a waste of effort. He had overseen the entire installation process. He knew exactly how the camera wires were routed, where the power source was, where the ports were located, and the full extent of the surveillance coverage.

The workers had even mentioned the camera’s blind spots right in front of him. What didn’t he know?

If I really wanted to avoid detection, the simplest way would be to just unplug the wires—easy and efficient. This setup could only fool strangers.

However, I’m not about to do that. Besides, it’s not even certain if I’ll provide any more songs in the future.
