Naruto: Reborn as an Otsutsuki
Chapter 154 - 153: Seimei: Reina, Do You Think You’re the Protagonist of Some Novel?
While Seimei and Reina formed a truce, Shikamo and the other four noticed a calm battlefield. Shikamo, Yuto, Touma, and Haneda turned their heads toward Keiko and raised their eyebrows.
Their expressions were literally hinting at Keiko to use her unique sensory technique and tell them what was going on.
Unknowingly, Uzumaki Keiko, a member of the prestigious Uzumaki clan, became their informant.
There was no other choice. The battlefield was too calm, almost unnaturally so.
Although the place where Reina and Seimei were standing no longer had a cover of smoke, dust, and mist, the shockwave of the last explosion caused the flying dust and mist to be pushed toward the boundaries.
As a result, the vision of Shikamo and four others was obstructed. Their binoculars weren't Byakugan. They have no idea what was going on over there.
But they didn't dare to step forward and enter the distant battlefield covered by dust and mist.
What if they stepped forward only to be plunged into a hell filled with devastating Ninjutsu and ear-shattering shockwaves?
They didn't have a death wish.
The further they were from the battlefield, the safer they were. That was the general consensus.
And they had no idea that the shadow clone of Seimei, who was sitting in the chair a few meters away, had Tenseigan to see through all the obstacles.
They just thought Seimei's eyes were unique and beautiful. Though Shikamo had his doubts, he wouldn't pry into his friend's secret. That was the greatest taboo among ninjas.
So, their only choice was Uzumaki Keiko and her Mind's Eye of Kagura.
Seeing her friends' expressions, Keiko sighed and said, "Fine."
She understood what they wanted to convey. And she had no problem with it.
After all, she was equally eager to find out exactly what was going on in the battlefield obscured by dust and mist. Did the fight between Reina and Seimei really stop?
She didn't hesitate and instantly activated the Mind's Eye of Kagura.
Soon, she felt as if she had entered a grey, colorless world. She could clearly see the shape of different inanimate objects, the birds sitting near the trees with tiny portions of chakra in them, and the four friends and Seimei's shadow clone around her.
She couldn't make out their faces. But she could identify their unique chakra signatures. She could see the vast amount of chakra inside their bodies.
She could capture their every movement.
In this state, even if she couldn't keep up with someone's speed, she could still feel the chakra of that individual to find out where they were planning to move or how they would act within a few moments.
She could perceive a person's emotions, intentions, goodwill, and malice.
For example, by perceiving an enemy's intentions, she could predict exactly where they were going to strike next.
That was exactly what made the Mind's Eye of Kagura so powerful, leagues beyond the common sensory techniques.
Of course, to clearly perceive a person's intentions and emotions, the user of this technique, Uzumaki's spiritual power, chakra control, and mastery of the Mind's Eye of the Kagura, must also reach a certain limit.
And Keiko was still far from reaching that point. As of now, she could only sense a person's intentions, emotions, and malice vaguely.
But for checking what was going on beyond the layer of dust and mist, her mastery of this innate sensory technique was more than enough.
"Let's see what you guys are cooking up over there." She murmured as she focused on perceiving and sensing Seimei's and Reina's chakra.
Soon, her perception tore through the mask of dust and mist and locked on two enormous pools of chakra, which were standing together.
Keiko immediately perceived the chakra signature and confirmed that they were indeed Seimei and Reina. And they had stopped their 'friendly' battle that wasn't friendly to their surrounding environment at all.
From their gestures and movements, it seemed like those two were simply chatting right now.
Well, that's good news.
If they keep fighting, at least one of them will definitely suffer from severe injury.
They went all out, holding nothing back.
If we hadn't banned Ninjutsu, which causes widespread destruction, this place would be swarmed by ANBU right now.
Uzumaki Keiko thought to herself. Then, she told her friends about the current situation, and they sighed in relief.
--------------------
Meanwhile, Seimei and Reina, who were chatting leisurely with each other, suddenly felt a gaze upon them.
The gaze was open, unhidden, without any trace of concealment.
Others might miss it. But as the wielders of some of the most formidable Dojutsu of the ninja world, Seimei and Reina, whose spiritual power was more abundant than anyone else of their age, they felt the gaze on them with utmost clarity.
They snapped their necks simultaneously toward the gaze and locked their eyes with it.
Seimei's Tenseigan even pierced through the cover of dust and mist and found the culprit behind the almost burning he felt.
Seimei and Reina looked at each other.
Reina said, "This gaze, it surely came from Keiko. She must be using her innate gift, Mind's Eye of Kagura."
Seimei nodded, "Indeed. But she still hasn't learned how to hide her intent."
"Tsk~"
"If she encounters enemy sensor-nins in the future, they will immediately realize that someone is spying on them and alert their teams or armies."
"It looks like I will have to ask Kirito-sensei to fix it for her."
Seimei chuckled darkly as he could already imagine the laborious training schedule Keiko would soon have to endure.
"Jie jie jie~"
Watching Seimei crackle with a strange, villainous laughter, Reina was speechless.
Her jaw almost dropped to the ground as he stared at Seimei with a blank expression. She thought that only she had the heart dark enough to commit child abuse for the sake of these innocent children and their future.
Who knew Seimei's heart would be just as dark?
Feeling her speechless stare, Seimei came to his senses and said, "Hmm?"
"Don't look at me like that."
"All the blood and sweat she shed now will save her life in the future."
"I'm doing it for her."
"All for the greater good."
"For the Greater Good!"
For the greater good, my foot. Reina thought and cast a sceptical glance at Seimei. She knew that this mischievous kid was up to no good.
Although he was more mature than kids of his age and had the wisdom of a grown adult, his troublemaking tendencies were equally terrifying.
The only problem was that his mischiefs were often subtle, leaving no clue of his involvement behind unless he actively revealed them.
However, Reina only thought of them for a second, and then she quickly emptied her mind.
Instead, she said, "But I have to admit, Seimei, I am indeed jealous of the Mind's Eye of Kagura technique of the Uzumaki clan."
"It has a lot of applications, and its sensory range is also wider than a full-fledged Hyuga Jonin's Byakugan."
"I also have Uzumaki blood running through my veins. Why the heck did I not awaken any of their innate talents?"
Now, it was Seimei's turn to become speechless.
What the fuck, Reina?
You already have three tomoe Sharingan, which will surely evolve into Mangekyo Sharingan one day. And with my father's potion, you or other Uchiha ninjas will never have to worry about blindness again.
Your chakra reserves have surpassed most Senju and Uzumaki ninjas.
Your sensory skills are off the charts.
Your battle prowess is already beyond what most ninjas could ever achieve, even after grinding all their lives.
And you still covet the Uzumaki clan's innate techniques?
Well, coveting powerful techniques is only natural. I do, too.
But…
Even Uzumaki Naruto, the bona fide protagonist, the reincarnation of Otsutsuki Asura, the fucking Child of Destiny, and the master of Talk-no-Jutsu Genjutsu, wasn't able to awaken even a shred of an innate ability of his Uzumaki lineage.
Uchiha Reina, my friend, do you think you're the protagonist of some novel?
Anyway, being a protagonist is no good thing. They only attract trouble.
Seimei thought inwardly as he rolled his eyes.
He said, "If you're dissatisfied, just invent an extraordinary sensory Jutsu of your own."
Hearing this, Reina's eyes lit up, and she exclaimed, "Great idea."
"Let's develop a sensory Ninjutsu that will rival, no, surpass the Mind's Eye of Kagura."
"You have invented a lot of new Jutsu. You have to help me, okay?"
Seimei was instantly alarmed, "Wait a minute, it's you who wants to develop a new sensory Jutsu. Why are you dragging me?"
Reina shamelessly responded, "As a fellow explorer, it's only natural to explore the mysteries of chakra and nature together."
Seimei shook his head and replied, "No, you explore the mysteries yourself. I have more important things to do."
A sensory Jutsu? Why the heck would he need a sensory Jutsu when he had Tenseigan?
As soon as Seimei finished speaking, he instantly bolted out by activating the Body Flicker Technique.
Seeing him departing quickly, it was now Reina's turn to chuckle mischievously.
She shouted, "Wait, Seimei. We are inventing a new Jutsu for the sake of our fellow ninjas of Konoha. Everything is for Konoha. All for the greater good."
Reina giggled quietly as she also vanished from her spot using the Body Flicker Technique, instantly running after the already fleeing Seimei.
