CHAPTER 154: CHAPTER 154: MARRIED

Early the next morning.

Poppy Hale went back home and found a white long dress from her closet to wear.

She stood in front of the full-length mirror, looked at herself, then turned back to get a pink dress, changed into it and twirled around, thinking it looked pretty good.

Truth Hale stood there with a coffee cup, watching her daughter looking so adorable.

She laughed, "What are you up to? All dressed up so pretty?"

"What are you saying, I’m pretty even without dressing up!"

Poppy Hale put on some lipstick, happiness lifting the corners of her eyes and brows.

"I’m going to register for marriage with Declan Hawthorne, how about that?"

Mother and daughter looked at each other.

Both wanted to see some different emotions in each other’s eyes.

Truth Hale’s expression was about to freeze!

"What? Huh? What did you say? Poppy Hale, I have a heart condition!"

"I’m not kidding."

Truth Hale’s coffee cup was shaking so much she could barely hold it steady.

A thousand words condensed into one sentence.

"Your voice is back?"

Poppy Hale blinked, "You heard it?"

Listening now, it seemed fine, just a bit hoarse.

"Oh dear!"

Truth Hale’s eyes blinked repeatedly, tears almost ready to gush out and spill over.

Her mouth twitched, and she turned to leave.

Moments later, she came out of her room with a white silk qipao.

"Wear this. I wore this at my wedding. Unfortunately, your dad’s suit didn’t get kept. But Young Hawthorne is taller than your father, so it wouldn’t fit either."

When Truth Hale gets nervous, she tends to babble.

Chattering incessantly.

It was the first time Poppy Hale had seen Truth Hale’s qipao.

It was preserved well, with a high-collared goldfish frog button, gold thread edging, exquisite embroidery, with lilies blooming, symbolizing a hundred years of harmony.

"Is it okay? This is your wedding dress, what if I ruin it?"

"If it’s ruined, so be it! I’m at an age where I won’t be wearing it to the grave!"

Poppy Hale couldn’t resist against Truth Hale.

She went in and changed into the qipao.

It was a bit long, almost dragging, fitting around the ankles.

It made Poppy Hale look like a white vase, a porcelain white bottle adorned with lily patterns, elegantly charming.

Truth Hale’s eyes were moist.

"Even more beautiful than when I wore it."

"Go on, don’t worry about home, I’m here."

Her child, grown from a babbling toddler, had matured.

Her only wish was to see Poppy Hale find happiness with her own eyes.

Poppy Hale applied light makeup, and when she pushed the door open, Declan Hawthorne was already waiting at the door.

He had donned a new suit, adding a touch of solemnity, yet in the depths of his handsome brows, there was a visible nervousness.

His eyes were filled with amazement upon seeing Poppy Hale.

Poppy Hale originally felt a bit uneasy.

She rarely wore such formal qipaos, but considering it was a marriage registration, a bit of formality seemed appropriate.

She didn’t expect Declan Hawthorne to be so stunned.

Downstairs, in the garage, the car was adorned with flowers on the hood.

Morgan Sloan had found a wedding planning company overnight, even dressing himself up as an older flower boy, the car received some decorative touches as well.

Seeing the flowers on the hood, Poppy Hale suddenly felt the reality of marrying Declan Hawthorne.

Morgan Sloan handed the bouquet to Declan Hawthorne.

He spoke sincerely.

"Congratulations to both of you. The civil affairs bureau appointment has been made."

The journey was smooth.

Upon arrival at the civil affairs bureau, Morgan Sloan somehow produced a bunch of wedding candy, distributing it generously to passers-by.

When Poppy Hale and Declan Hawthorne came out with their red certificates, they received wedding candy too.

The certificate symbolizing marriage was held in the hands of Poppy Hale and Declan Hawthorne.

Declan Hawthorne took Poppy Hale’s certificate.

"I’ll keep it safe."

Poppy Hale laughed and cried.

In the car, she sent the photos they had just taken at the civil affairs bureau to Truth Hale.

Declan Hawthorne also sent one to Jackie Barrett and Hugo Hawthorne.

A moment later, Jackie Barrett called.

The first words were unexpectedly, "Declan, are you insane?"

"If you’re going crazy wanting to marry Poppy, you can’t just photoshop the images!"

Declan Hawthorne: "....."

He reached up to massage his brow.

And handed the phone to Poppy Hale.

"Auntie, hello. Declan and I have indeed registered our marriage. It’s our fault for not informing you in advance."

From the other side, Jackie Barrett was silent for a moment.

She covered the phone’s mouthpiece and leaned over to ask Hugo Hawthorne.

"Old Man Hawthorne, do you think voices can be faked?"

Hugo Hawthorne hummed, "A voice changer. Don’t you know?"

"I don’t think it’s a voice changer. Poppy says she’s married to Declan. Check your phone."

Hugo Hawthorne added, "Isn’t Poppy unable to speak? Is Declan insane?"

No wonder they’re a couple.

Their way of thinking was exactly the same.

Thinking their son had gone insane, they didn’t believe he had actually married Poppy Hale.

Hugo Hawthorne glanced at his phone.

He and Jackie Barrett exchanged a look of disbelief, followed by uncontainable joy!

Jackie Barrett picked up the phone, excitedly saying, "No returns, okay!"

"Poppy, your voice is back?"

Poppy Hale said softly, "Yes, maybe marrying Declan made me so happy it just returned."

Jackie Barrett couldn’t help but feel like crying.

She hung up the phone and sent a big red envelope to Poppy Hale.

Along with a note.

"Congratulations on your marriage. This is Auntie’s blessing."

Hugo Hawthorne watched and mumbled, "Why still calling herself Auntie?"

"What do you know? Women care about etiquette. Poppy might have been tricked by your son using some shameless means, it needs to be taken slowly. This is for congratulating their marriage, not the fee for changing what they call us."

"Yes yes, forgot the fee for changing what they call us."

Hugo Hawthorne also sent a big red envelope over.

Poppy Hale accepted it.

She simply replied with a thank you, dad and mom.

This made the old couple so happy they didn’t know where they were, and they each sent over more money, saying it was for the fee for changing what they call them.

Poppy Hale looked at the incoming funds on her phone, elbowing Declan Hawthorne beside her.

"Did I almost make a fortune getting married? If I got married a few more times, would I become the richest person?"

Declan Hawthorne looked at her, amused and angry.

"You wish."

But he also took out his phone and transferred some money to Poppy Hale.

Poppy Hale raised an eyebrow, "What’s this for?"

"Fee for changing what you call me."

He looked at Poppy Hale in front of him.

Because she was wearing a cinched-waist qipao, she couldn’t lean against the seat and felt a bit tired.

Sitting upright.

That waist was only as wide as his hand.

It lit a fire in Declan Hawthorne’s eyes.

He wrapped an arm around Poppy Hale, his voice imbued with a fervent passion.

"Now that we’re married, shouldn’t you also change what you call me?"

For instance, she should call him husband.

Poppy Hale looked at the money on her phone, not in a hurry, leaving Declan Hawthorne hanging.

She found a comfortable position in his arms.

Her fingers moved over the numbers.

"Not bad, enough to buy me a few new machines."

Before Declan Hawthorne could feel displeased, as she had her mind full of factory matters, completely ignoring her newlywed husband.

Poppy Hale tilted her head and planted a kiss on Declan Hawthorne’s cheek.

"Thank you, husband."
