Negative Distance: My Ex Becomes My Boss!
Chapter 183: Sorry, I Have That Kind of Fetish
CHAPTER 183: CHAPTER 183: SORRY, I HAVE THAT KIND OF FETISH
Next to the golf course, there is a shooting range.
Allen Shaw handed a bow to Declan Hawthorne and picked up another bow nearby.
Nocking an arrow, he shot it out.
The electronic screen immediately showed ten rings.
Declan also nocked an arrow, and for a moment, no one in the field spoke.
After finishing a round, Allen rubbed his shoulder and looked back at Ethan Sutton, who was still lingering behind like a quail.
Allen frowned, looking impatient and disdainful at Ethan.
"Why are you still here? It’s about enough, right? You can’t possibly think that just by apologizing, this matter will blow over so easily?"
Ethan’s face darkened.
"Young Mr. Shaw, we’re all friends, and besides, Matthew is my younger brother. I believe that if something like this happened in your family, as a brother, you wouldn’t sit idly by either."
Allen held a cigarette in his mouth and laughed when he heard that.
Teeth slightly deforming the cigarette tip.
"Well, sorry, I’m an only child. But Declan, if those younger brothers of yours were so unruly, how would you handle them?"
Beside him, Declan shot out an arrow, squinting as he pulled a cigarette from Allen’s pack.
Just as he was about to light it, Ethan ingratiatingly moved closer.
Offering to light it for Declan.
Declan didn’t shy away, glancing up at Ethan as he lit it.
He took a drag and blew the smoke into Ethan’s face, then spoke coldly and slowly, "My brothers aren’t that brainless."
After just one puff, he crushed out the cigarette and tossed it into the trash.
Allen raised an eyebrow, "Really quit? I didn’t realize your wife was so strict."
"My wife doesn’t like it."
Talking about Poppy Hale, Declan couldn’t help but show a faint smile.
A subtle smile, hardly noticeable unless you looked closely.
As someone familiar with him, Allen shook his head with a mocking smile.
"I’m talking about how your temper has improved so much since our college days."
"It’s because my wife has a good temper."
Declan squinted, aiming at the target, his arrow flying out.
Ethan stood by the side, completely ignored by them.
But didn’t dare to lose his temper either.
He came here to appease Declan.
From Ethan’s perspective, after bailing Matthew out, Declan didn’t make things difficult, which clearly seemed like tacit approval.
This current situation left him unable to figure out what Declan truly meant.
Walking out of the archery range, Declan headed to the rest area, accepting a towel handed over by Poppy.
He used Poppy’s hand to wipe his sweat.
Serena Sutton turned her face away, looking at Ethan.
"Big Brother."
Ethan’s gaze fell on Justin Hawthorne.
He hadn’t seen Justin before.
But the Hawthorne Family all carried an air of aloof arrogance, impossible to overlook with just a glance.
Standing together, Declan and Justin exuded an unapproachable aura.
It was obvious they were family.
Ethan smiled, greeting Justin.
"Hello, Fifth Miss Hawthorne."
"Eldest Young Master Sutton, I won’t waste words. I can’t accept an unchaste man; your private life is too chaotic. If my grandfather talks to you about an engagement, don’t take it seriously."
Justin was dressed in equestrian attire, looking spirited.
Though shorter than Ethan, when speaking, she still held her chin high proudly.
Speaking from above, "The man I, Justin Hawthorne, am looking for cannot be a worthless cuck. I have a particular aversion to those matters, sorry."
Her words were so blunt that Ethan’s face turned even darker.
Yet Allen chimed in.
"Yes, indeed. Our Justin has standards for a partner. If your pre-marital life is a mess, post-marriage wouldn’t it be chaotic as well?"
Justin looked at Ethan with disdain.
On the way here, she checked Ethan’s circle of friends.
There were no fewer than five women he had professed love to.
Checking other social platforms, the content he liked from local exotic dancers was countless.
Justin had taken screenshots of those and sent them to Old Master Hawthorne.
The old master said nothing.
Just mentioned that since she was on her way, meeting him wouldn’t hurt.
At least it would maintain appearances.
Justin came indeed, but the more she saw Ethan, the more infuriated she became.
"Brother Lu, accompany me for a horseback ride."
"You go ahead, I’ll catch up later. Perhaps take your sister-in-law along?"
Justin looked back at Poppy, who was speaking with Declan.
Hearing this, she raised her eyebrows and ran over to link arms with Poppy, asking her to join for the ride.
When they were kids, Connor Lynch had bought Poppy a horse, a chestnut foal, very cute.
Having not ridden in years, Poppy was somewhat interested.
"Big Brother, I’ll borrow sister-in-law for a while, I’ll return her shortly."
After saying that, she pulled Poppy to change clothes.
Allen looked at Serena beside him, "Aren’t you going?"
"No, I’m not very familiar with Miss Hawthorne or Miss Hale."
"You’ll get familiar by playing together. I’ll have Justin take care of you."
Having her there would be inconvenient.
Ethan saw Allen’s suggestions a few times, thinking it beneficial for Serena to get along with Justin Hawthorne.
Clenching his teeth, swallowing the anger from being insulted by Justin, he whispered, "Go ahead, I’ll cover the expenses."
Allen took Serena to catch up to Justin and Poppy.
"Justin, I’m entrusting Serena to you. When Elon and the others arrive, your brother and I must entertain Eldest Young Master Sutton."
Justin pulled Serena along, drawing out her words sarcastically, "Entrusting Serena to you, who are you to Serena, really?"
Allen flicked Justin on the forehead, "Don’t mess around."
After all, having grown up together and sharing some familial ties, Justin was quite familiar with Allen, leading to inevitable familiarity in their interactions.
Serena watched this, lowering her eyes without comment.
Allen returned to join Declan and the others, his long hair flowing in the wind, and his clothes billowing, seeming like a warrior ready to gallop across the prairie, carefree and suave.
Serena couldn’t help but look again.
Justin waved her hand in front of Serena’s eyes.
"Serena? Stop looking, they’ve already left."
Serena came back to her senses, "Sorry."
After changing clothes, Justin went to pick a horse, and Poppy chose a chestnut horse.
Similar to the one she had raised as a child.
Justin, considering that Serena might not ride often, picked two gentle mares, and the three leisurely strolled onto the prairie.
Justin discussed design drafts with Poppy.
"Sister-in-law, I’m still a bit uneasy about whether my drafts are really usable."
"Of course, they can be."
Although Justin was a lady of the Hawthorne Family, in this area, she had always been suppressed, not allowed to showcase her talents.
She lacked confidence and couldn’t believe her design drafts could actually be used.
Also worried that if Old Master Hawthorne found out she was involved in jewelry, he would reprimand and punish her.
Poppy squinted, looking at the target on the prairie.
"If I can hit that target, will you trust me just this once?"
"Sister-in-law can shoot arrows too?"
"Give it a try."
At first, Justin and Serena both thought Poppy intended to ride up, then get down to shoot.
But unexpectedly, she gave a push with her foot, steering the horse towards the target.
On the prairie, the target stood adorned with a bouquet as a prize.
Poppy’s eyes were fixed on the bouquet.
The chestnut mare beneath her galloped, the woman straightening up, nocking an arrow, shooting it.
Directly hitting the bouquet.
