CHAPTER 213: PRESENTABLE

"She wanted to meet at the pub?" Heiren groaned out as he got off the floor.

He was busy folding his clothes when Zaque knocked on his door and announced that Coco wanted to meet them by the pub, ordering him to make himself presentable.

"Presentable for what though?" The mediator grumbled under his breath as he touched his lower back, "It’s not like we’re going on a date. Coco still has to pay her debt and I’m sure she used most of the money she earned this morning."

The memory of their morning flashed in his mind, the thundering beat of his heart returning.

He had forced the unknown feeling down and locked it away in his heart because the mere thought of his heart pounding for the woman who used to hurt them seemed outrageous for him.

Coco told us that she took over our wife’s dead body, but that doesn’t mean that it’s actually the truth. Heiren thought, walking over to his closet with a frown settling on his face.

He opened the double doors of his closet, his eyes scanning the clothes that Coco had given him.

Just like Zaque, he had never thought of any occasion where he would wear such fine clothing— especially since they live in a small village.

"Should I go for it and just settle with this?" Heiren asked no one in particular, his eyebrows furrowing in wonder.

"Or should I wear something else? It’s not like she asked us to go to the pub to do something scandalous, right?" The mediator said out loud, sighing the words out as he looked at the clothes on his bed.

"But Zaque said to make myself look presentable.." Heiren groaned, raising his arm and running his hand down on his face.

"This day has been stressful enough as is.. I don’t want to deal with another problem right after Alhai and Quizen accepted Zaque’s wish to pursue Coco.." He mumbled under his breath, his hand shooting out to grab the clothes he received from Coco.

His brown hair fell over his forehead, his fingers running through the locks as he swiftly shifted them back into place.

His eyes skimmed over the clothes inside of his closet, studying each item one by one, his mind weighing his options.

It was a difficult decision— each article of clothing seemed equally appealing to him because the clothes were obviously made with expensive fabrics and as he ran his fingers over them, feeling the different fabrics, he just knew that Coco had spent a lot of money on them.

"I guess it wouldn’t hurt to make myself look good for once." Heiren said while running his hand over a silky fabric, the feeling of the material soft and smooth against his skin.

He pulled it off the hanger and turned to the full body mirror glued to the closet’s door, holding it up to check the colour, a light shade that would compliment his complexion— bringing out his beauty as a mediator.

He held it up to himself, admiring how the material would accentuate his form, the colour brightening his features and making his hair and eyes pop.

He hummed softly and smiled in satisfaction, the shirt in his hand looking perfect on him.

"Guess I’ll settle for this one." The brown haired mediator said, turning away from the mirror and grabbing the perfect pants that would go well with the shirt he chose.

Everything is going well on Heiren’s room while on the other side of the hall..

"I don’t want to go." The silver haired mediator hissed under his breath, his eyebrows furrowed in agitation as he swung the closet door open.

Alhai looked annoyed as he looked through his closet for something to wear and he let out a sigh of frustration, his expression hardening as he rummaged through the clothes.

He pushed aside hangers, his fingers running over the fabric as his expression grew more irritated because he couldn’t find anything suitable.

He let out an exasperated noise, the sound of his annoyance filling the room, not exactly sure why he couldn’t find anything perfect to wear when there are a lot of clothing inside his closet.

"This one looks tacky. This one has a torn sleeve. This one looks ugly. This one looks like it went through ups and downs.." The frown on his face deepened as the clothes flew around the room, searching for something to wear.

He huffed in frustration, his movements becoming more and more frantic as he realized that he couldn’t find anything that was suitable.

"Maybe I should have used the money that woman gave me to buy some clothes." He grumbled, shoving his way through the clothes, his silver hair whipping around like his own personal storm.

He dug further into his closet, the array of worn out clothings and the ones that looked like he didn’t touch them mixing together.

"At last!" After a good minute, he finally found the perfect clothes, his expression changing from frustrated to satisfied.

He pulled out the shirt as he inspected the clothing— the very clothing that Coco had bought for him a couple of weeks ago.

He nodded to himself, a small smile appearing on his face as he noted that the colours complement each other and suited him well.

"Zaque should be grateful that I’m putting an effort on making myself presentable for Coco." Alhai mumbled, closing the closet door with a loud bang and taking the shirt off from the hanger.

It only took him another good two minutes to finish getting himself ready, but once he was done, he was satisfied with his work.

"Hurry up, you two! Fifteen minutes had passed!" Came a muffled yell from the hallway.

Alhai frowned, but didn’t say anything and exited his room, just in time to see Heiren coming out of his room, making the two of them freeze and stare at each other.

"Well.. You certainly dressed up." Heiren commented, raising an eyebrow.
