CHAPTER 224: HOUSE

"Can you bring me with you? You’ll go to the main city, right? Please bring me with you."

Coco was shocked when confronted with the question, her reaction immediate and obvious.

Her eyes widened, her mouth dropping open in surprise and her words failing her, her mind struggling to comprehend the meaning of his words.

She stood frozen, her body tensed and her thoughts racing.

This was not what she had expected, her mind racing to process the unexpected turn of events and her heart rate increased.

She stared at the red haired mediator, stunned by the question he had just asked her.

"I don’t mind if you want me to take care of your things or make me do whatever you want.. Just take me with you." Zaque sounded like he was begging, his voice laced with genuine desperation.

The words rang in her ears, her mind unable to process the meaning of his statement.

She stood speechless for a moment, her mind struggling to process his words as she felt a shiver run down her spine, a mixture of skepticism and anticipation flooding through her veins.

Her mind was a blur of confusion and disbelief, her heart racing as the suddenness and unexpectedness of his words and as they sunk in, she took a step back, her body reacting instinctively to the intensity of the moment, her eyes never leaving his face.

"What?" Coco whispered, the single word barely audible in the quiet room.

Why would he want to go with me? Coco thought, taking another step back away from Zaque until her lower back hit the edge of the dining table.

"Tell him that you can’t bring him with you, Coco!" The garden fairy exclaimed, her voice high pitched and shrill.

Coco straightened her posture and stood still, clearing her throat as she shot Zaque a pointed look. "It’s not nice of you to say something like that.. What would your friends— no, actually, not friends.. What would your brothers think?"

She gestured towards Heiren, Alhai, and Quizen with an open palm, a puzzled look on her face.

The three of them snapped their attention from Zaque to Coco, their eyes wide in surprise and disbelief, not expecting for her to think of their relationship with him at that moment.

She had done nothing, but drop off money and food to the door and never went inside nor meddled with the mediators’ affairs inside their home— personal or professional affairs, it doesn’t matter.

Coco had always stepped away from them or never showed interest in what’s happening between them.

Well, except for now.

"Does it matter what they think about this decision of mine?" Zaque asked, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion as he made his displeasure known.

"Whatever they think doesn’t matter!" Lala whined and turned to Coco, "You have to reject him, Coco! We can’t have him come with us to the city! How would you explore the city? Or meet someone new? He will only bother you! So, you can’t let him come!"

The garden fairy’s words may have sounded harsh for Coco’s ears, but she knows that Lala only wants the best for her and wouldn’t want anyone to put her at risk.

What am I going to do..? Coco thought as she pursed her lips and looked at the garden fairy, pondering about what Lala said and what she should do in this unexpected situation.

Zaque inhaled sharply when his words were only met with nothing, but silence.

"I won’t do anything to hinder you on what you have to do." Zaque was quick to try and convince Coco to take him with her, "I only want to go so I can take care of you— I know, I know.. You can take care of yourself, okay? But I want to be there."

The red haired mediator swallowed the lump forming in his throat, the panic coursing through her veins making his heart pound against his ribs quite roughly.

"I came from the main city and I have a small house there— a small space which consists of a small kitchen, two bedrooms, and a bathroom." Zaque said and took a step forward, but not moving closer to Coco.

Coco snapped out of her inner turmoil when her ears catched Zaque’s words and her brain processed what he said.

"You have a house in the main city?" Coco asked, her emerald irises twinkling with curiosity.

"Coco, no!" Lala gasped, feeling terrified beyond words could describe, "Don’t listen to him! He was living with a broke wife who was drowning in debts! There’s no way that he has a house in the main city!"

However, Coco blocked the garden fairy out of her mind and stared at the red haired mediator.

"Yes, I have a house." Zaque answered Coco’s question with a small smile, the sigh of relief escaping through his lips was barely heard, but the relieved look on his face was as clear as day.

"Is it close to where I can get my hunter license?" Coco tilted her head, the thought of saving money filling her mind.

If Zaque has a house in the main city, she doesn’t have to worry about spending money on a place where she could stay and only has to focus on spending money on food.

Zaque blinked slowly and pursed his lips together, staring at Coco for a moment.

"I’m not quite sure.. When I received the house from my father and had my name written in the paper for the property, I was already about to get married to Coco Hughes." Zaque scratched his cheek, a guilty expression on his face.

"Please rest assured, I do have a house in the main city and it’s still under my name." He quickly added to his previous statement while waving his hands frantically in the air.

"If I take you with me, will you let us stay in that house of yours?" Coco smiled, an expectant look in her eyes.

"Coco?!"
