Chapter 318: Baby visit
CHAPTER 318: BABY VISIT
"Baby rabbit— ack!" Coco was calling out to the farming rabbit, but choked when the same rabbit tackled her to the grass.
The baby farming rabbit jumped out of the bush and tackled Coco, its small bodies leaping at her and knocking her to the ground, covering her form with its nose twitching and its eyes glimmering with playfulness.
Coco lay flat on her back, her eyes wide and unblinking as the big baby farming rabbit loomed over her.
The rabbit’s body was enormous compared to her, its fluffy fur a soft white color— almost the same as the clouds in the sky, its pink nose twitching as it sniffed her curiously, its tiny whiskers tickling her face.
Its eyes, a dark shade of red, held a hint of intelligence and curiosity as it observed her, studying her with interest.
Coco’s body was dwarfed by the rabbit’s massive form, her head resting on the soft grass as she looked up at the creature in wonder and awe.
The bunny’s red eyes staring directly into her soul, its ears perked up and listening keenly, waiting for her to make a sound of some sort— tilting its head and leaning down to watch her closely.
"Coco!"
Zaque and Quizen screamed her name, their voices loud and filled with fear.
Their eyes were wide with panic as they ran towards Coco, there was an expression of shock and disbelief on their faces, their minds unable to comprehend the scene before them.
Zaque’s movements were quick and erratic, his eyes darting from the giant rabbit to Coco and back again.
Quizen followed closely behind, dropping the basket that Heiren handed to him before they left, his steps heavy and his breathing shallow.
Together, they raced across the house, their gaze glued on the huge rabbit looming over their wife.
"That is as far as you could go!" Sinclair exclaimed and stopped the two of them, his hands shooting out to grab the collars of their shirts.
He held them back with a firm grip, ceasing their advances towards Coco.
"Don’t alarm the rabbit." Sinclair stated, his expression was stern, his gaze fixed on them with a warning, telling them to stay put.
Zaque and Quizen did stop in their tracks, their bodies tensing as they felt the restraint of Sinclair’s grip on their collars, then they looked at him, and then at the scene before them, worry and helplessness etched on their faces.
"But what if the monster hurts her?" Quizen hissed, glaring at Sinclair.
The hybrid assured them, his tone firm and confident as he said, "She will be fine"
Sinclair’s gaze shifted back to the big baby farming rabbit towering over Coco and let out a sigh through his nose, his grip on the husbands’ collars tightening.
"The monster won’t do anything to harm her." He spoke confidently, putting his trust in the creature.
His words were meant to reassure Zaque and Quizen, to ease their fears, but there was an undertone of authority in his voice.
Zaque and Quizen looked at Coco once more, their eyes filled with worry, before they forcefully broke free from Sinclair’s grip, taking the latter by surprise by the unexpected strength from the mediator.
"Just because you trust that rabbit doesn’t mean we should either." Zaque retorted, his tone tinged with frustration and fear.
Sinclair sighed, shaking his head in mild exasperation, yet the corner of his lips quirked upwards slightly in amusement.
"You have a point." He conceded, though his tone was wary, "But she will be fine."
"Yeah, right." Zaque grumbled, but didn’t take a step forward.
"I promise." Sinclair quickly added, his voice filled with sincerity as he turned his gaze towards the scene of Coco and the monstrous bunny, his attention then shifting to the two mediators. "I’ll even put my head on the line."
There was an underlying current of confidence and certainty in his voice because he, himself, wouldn’t let the monster harm his master.
Zaque and Quizen exchanged a brief look, their gazes meeting for a moment before nodding their heads in agreement, then simultaneously, the two of them loosened up.
Zaque’s shoulders relaxed slightly, but his expression still filled with worry, just less tense while Quizen’s body language also loosened, his jaw unclenching and his eyes softening a bit.
They may have still been concerned for Coco’s safety, but they took comfort in the fact that even Sinclair believed Coco would be okay.
Sinclair couldn’t help, but smile as he saw the husbands of her friend loosen up their rigid stances, their expressions softening.
Right at that moment— as if to prove him right— Coco let out a squeal and a laugh.
The sound was infectious, her joy and excitement palpable even from this distance, like she was having the time of her life, completely at ease and untouched by any fear or worry.
The sound of her laughter filled the air, a clear and joyful melody that echoed through the back of the house.
Zaque and Quizen watched as the rabbit rubs its face against Coco’s stomach, causing her to laugh louder and shake against the grass.
The sight was not what they had expected, but it’s not unwelcomed, especially when the rabbit rolled around, its long ears flopping adorably as it continued to rub its face against Coco’s stomach, seemingly enjoying the sensation.
"Calm down! Calm down!" Coco laughed and it rang out, her voice filled with joy as she patted the monstrous creature.
Coco rolled over and the rabbit happily followed her lead.
It turned onto its back, its beady red eyes looking at Coco’s face, the difference between the bunny’s intimidating size and its childish behavior was bewildering, but Coco relished that fact.
Coco, now laying on top, looked down at the rabbit with wide eyes, her laughter slowly subsiding into a soft smile.
"I’m sorry for taking too long to visit you." Coco apologized, gently patting the rabbit’s cheek, causing the rabbit to respond by rubbing its face against her palm.
