CHAPTER 324: REVELATION [2]

"Sinclair?!" Coco asked, her eyes going wide as the realization set in.

As the rather abnormally large raven approached her, her instincts kicked in, and she instinctively held out an arm, providing a perch for the majestic bird to land on.

The raven settled onto her arm, its talons gently grasping her skin as it adjusted its position, and Coco couldn’t help, but be fascinated by the closeness of the creature, its dark feathers a beautiful difference against her arm.

"It is me, master." Sinclair answered, his voice echoing in Coco’s mind, sounding pleased and content with Coco’s reaction.

Upon hearing the answer, Coco couldn’t stop squeals of excitement from escaping.

"It’s really you!" Coco exclaimed, her eyes wide and her face lit up with a mixture of awe and joy, as she gently rubbed her finger against the raven’s beak, her touch gentle and affectionate.

Coco could feel the gentle pressure of Sinclair’s beak against her finger as he rubbed it affectionately.

"Let your husbands know about what I am, master." Sinclair said— the words were clear and simple, and Coco understood the message.

Her gaze shifted to Zaque and Quizen, who stood nearby, their expressions a mixture of shock and disbelief at the sight of Sinclair as a raven perched on Coco’s arm, the sight itself seemingly like a dream for them.

Coco turned around, her eyes meeting Zaque’s and Quizen’s gazes directly.

Zaque and Quizen were still trying to process what they were witnessing, their minds struggling to reconcile the fact that their wife’s friend, Sinclair, had transformed into a raven and was now perched on Coco’s arm.

Coco raised the arm where Sinclair was perched, her voice steady, but tinged with excitement.

"This is Sinclair." Coco introduced him to them, her gaze flickering between the raven and her husbands. "He’s a raven hybrid."

As she spoke, the raven let out a soft croak, tilting its head to acknowledge the introductions.

Zaque nodded his head, his expression telling him that he was trying to be understanding, there was a hint of doubt lingering in his eyes.

"What’s a hybrid?" The mediator asked, his eyebrows furrowing confusion.

The term was unfamiliar to him after all.

"A hybrid.." She began, her gaze fixed on Zaque, "Is a being formed by the combination of different species, possessing traits from each."

Zaque nodded his head in understanding, but there was still a lingering confusion in his gaze.

"In simpler words, a hybrid is someone who is half one thing and half another." Coco quickly added, her words careful and thoughtful. "In this case, Sinclair is half human and half animal— a raven, to be specific."

As if in response to Coco’s explanation, Sinclair let out another soft noise, nodding his head slightly, the gesture was subtle, but clear enough to indicate what she said was true.

Quizen cleared his throat this time, the expression on his face unreadable.

"Does this mean that.." Quizen slowly trailed off, looking like he was having trouble using the right words to say, "He knows what you are?"

His inquiry was accompanied by his eyebrows furrowing, letting the question hang in the air, the implications of Quizen’s words clear.

Quizen was clearly worried about the fact that Sinclair might know about Coco’s secret, and the thought of it made him uneasy because why? Why does Sinclair know about— if he does know— it?

Coco watched their faces for a moment before she took a deep breath and looked directly at Quizen, her expression serious.

"Yes." She replied simply. "He does know."

Quizen and Zaque looked taken aback, their expressions visibly hurt and betrayed.

They both shared a look, silently acknowledging the same feelings of hurt by the fact that someone else knows— that they were her husbands so they believed that they should be the only ones allowed to be in her secret.

They truly believe that since they know who Coco truly is inside, they have the upper standing compared to the people she met.

So, the revelation that someone else knew caused a wave of discomfort and a pang of jealousy to rise within them.

"You should assure them, master." The raven said to his master, sensing the rising uneasiness from the mediators, tilting his head.

The raven let out a noise, drawing the mediators’ attention away from their thoughts, making the tension to momentarily dissipate, and Coco spoke up, her voice carrying a soothing tone.

"He only knows what I am because we’re connected by soul." Coco shot them a trembling smile, "And don’t worry, I trust that he won’t say it to anyone else..?"

Sinclair visibly stiffened at the words Coco spouted.

He should have known that Coco was white clueless when it comes to things like this..

Coco’s words were intended to reassure, but it was clear that they did little to ease the hurt and jealousy felt by Quizen and Zaque.

Zaque lowered his gaze, trying to calm his jealousy down.

"Does this mean that he knows everything about you like how I know you?" He murmured, the question dripping with a wariness.

Coco blinked, his words catching Coco’s full attention, making her realize what he was feeling at the moment.

Coco’s face softened, understanding his fears and doubt, and given that Zaque likes her.. She knew that it would be hard to understand.

She took a step closer to Zaque, her free hand reaching out. "Yes, he does, but that doesn’t mean it’s exactly the same."

Sinclair hopped off Coco’s arm, allowing her to cradle Zaque’s cheeks gently in her hands— her touch was tender and soothing, her gaze locking with Zaque.

She could sense his tension and his unease by the way he looked at her, and for some reason, she wanted to calm his worries.

So, calm his worries she did.

"It’s different." Coco hums, her voice soft, "The connection we have is deeper, okay? I’m connected to him by soul because I’m his master, but I’m connected to you because I’m your wife."
