CHAPTER 334: NAUSEOUS AND HUNTING GEAR
The feeling of being teleported through the transportation station was unsettling, her stomach churning in protest at the sudden shift in space and location.
Coco’s face paled slightly, her expression tight as she fought to keep her composure.
As the teleportation took place, Coco became aware of a pair of hands steadying her, the touch gentle and firm, providing support and stability.
However, despite the presence of the unseen hands, Coco’s vision was obscured by the overwhelming sensations of the unfamiliar process, causing the world around her to blur, the sensation rising a nauseating feeling in her stomach.
Then, the sickening feeling diminished, and Coco suddenly found herself standing in the middle of a dark room.
The only source of light was the soft glow creeping through the open door in front of her, the edges of the doorway casting shadows.
Coco took a moment to steady herself, her eyes dropping slightly and adjusting to the dim light as she tried to make sense of her surroundings because she was sure that the second stage would take place somewhere big, right?
They will fight monsters after all.
"Are you okay? You look pale."
Coco’s ears picked up the sound of a voice speaking beside her, the deep but feminine tone of the speaker cutting through the quiet room, concern evident in the words.
Coco’s gaze flickered to the side, her eyes locking onto the owner of the voice— a woman standing to her right, her expression tinged with concern.
Coco blinked and slowly pulled herself away from the woman’s supportive grip, her words spoken with slight tremble. "Just not used to the feeling, but I’m fine.. Thank you for the help."
Even though she assured the woman, the paleness of her complexion said otherwise which made the woman’s concern double.
Coco started to walk, her steps unsteady and staggering slightly, but the woman was quick to react, her reflexes quick as she caught Coco to steady her— making Coco bite her tongue.
"Here, let me help." The woman offered, gently taking hold of Coco’s arm and wrapped an arm around her waist.
Coco tensed up slightly, her body stiffening instinctively at the unexpected touch, however, she quickly realized that the woman was offering support so instead of resisting, she allowed the woman to wrap an arm around her waist and provide assistance.
"Thank you." Coco muttered, forcing herself to relax into the touch.
"Just leave it to me." The woman reassured, her voice calm and confident as she slowly guided Coco forward, the pair falling in behind the other people who had also undergone the teleportation process with them.
As they left the dark room and entered the hallway, they were greeted by the sight of stoned hallways that resembled a colosseum.
The stone walls stretched out in either direction, the atmosphere cool and slightly humid, causing the sound of their footsteps to echo off the stone.
Coco took in the surroundings, her gaze glancing over the hall’s layout before returning her gaze forward.
"Is this your first time taking the hunter license examination?" The woman asked, her tone casual and pleasant, and thankfully, there was no judgment in her words, just a simple inquiry.
"Yes." Coco nodded her head, her gaze still fixed on their path ahead.
"Taking down monsters is the field I’m best at." Coco added to her previous response with a matter-of-fact tone, her words lacking any hint of arrogance.
The woman opened her mouth to respond, but her words were cut off when a voice of a man echoed through the hallway, catching everyone’s attention without failure.
"The women’s changing room is at the right and the men’s is at the left." He called out, his voice booming through the hall.
Coco looked up abruptly, her attention now focused on the man giving directions.
The man’s voice rang out once more, his tone authoritative as he yelled. "You only have ten minutes to make final changes in your gear! Go!"
The woman wasted no time, hurriedly tugging Coco towards the right side of the hallway and through the door leading into the women’s changing room, leaving Coco no choice, but to follow.
As she pushed through the entrance, the sound of various women running around the room filled the air.
The woman looked at Coco apologetically, her words hurried and spoken in a rush. "Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry! I didn’t know that we only have ten minutes left."
The woman was panicking, her other hand already searching for something in her bag. "I need to get my bow and arrows ready. Can you stand by yourself now?"
The woman reluctantly let go of Coco, her attention now completely focused on retrieving her weapons.
"I’m fine now." Coco said, her tone steady, her eyes fixed on the bag the woman was rummaging through because she failed to notice its existence earlier, "I’ll just wait outside."
She took a step back, her gaze lingering on the woman’s frantic search for her bow and arrows, then she turned around and exited the changing room and didn’t bother looking back.
As Coco stepped out of the changing room, she was immediately met with the sight of two people— a man and a woman— engaged in conversation in the hallway.
Coco observed them silently and her footsteps, despite being soft, caught the attention of the two people.
They turned on their heels, their gazes shifting towards Coco, their eyes held a mixture of curiosity and surprise at the sight of her.
The man raised an eyebrow and took a closer look at Coco, his gaze moving up and down her figure.
"Why are you not in your gear?" He inquired, taking note of Coco’s casual clothing of a white linen shirt partnered with leather pants and a pair of boots.
His eyes scrutinized her appearance, trying to make sense of her lack of standard hunting gear.
"Because I was told that I don’t need to wear one..?"
The man and the woman blinked, their faces housing an incredulous look.
