CHAPTER 351: HEART TO HEART TALK WITH LALA [2]

Coco’s heart dropped to her stomach at Lala’s words, not expecting the fairy to be thinking such a thing.

"I know that you still feel sad about being here.. That I took you away from your family." Lala continued, her voice shaking as she looked down and let go of Coco’s face.

"I know that I’m the reason why you’re like this, why you’re feeling like this." The garden fairy wiped the tears from her face before they could fall from her eyes, "But it’s okay, Coco. I can make up for it."

As Lala said those words, a scroll appeared before Coco’s eyes and unrolled itself.

[ Main Quest {10}: Let the fairy go ]

From the name of the quest alone, Coco knows that she wouldn’t like it and instead of reading its content, she pushes the scroll away.

"I don’t care what kind of punishment I’ll get from refusing to do this quest." Coco grumbled and shot a glare at the scroll, "Because even if it’s a fucking migraine, I’ll endure it. I would rather feel pain than let Lala go."

"No, Coco! You need to do the quest! It has good rewards if you finish it!" Lala cried out, frantically reaching out towards the scroll and pushing it to Coco.

"I don’t care, Lala." Coco hissed, pushing the mission scroll away. "You’re the only one who I truly know in this world— sure, I don’t know you on a personal level, but I know enough to entrust my life to you!"

"But I killed you!"

"So what?!" Coco exclaimed and stood up from the chair, causing it to fall back and land on the floor with a thump.

Coco’s voice rose in volume, which was unusual and surprising because she never raised her voice against anyone, much less against Lala.

However, she felt so fed up about Lala doing things on her own without consulting Coco first.

"You killed me!" Coco hissed and pointed an accusing finger towards Lala, "And I didn’t let you feel guilty about it because I didn’t want to! But you kept crying about it when I’m doing my goddamn best to forget about it because I don’t want to think anything related to that accident!"

Lala flinched and flew an inch back, her eyes wide in shock and disbelief, her heart slowly breaking into pieces.

"You killed me, Lala." Coco’s voice shook a little, her eyes squinting into a glare and turning glassy, "But I didn’t want to be alone so I asked you to come with me."

"I did come with you.." The garden fairy murmured, the corner of her lips curling down into a frown.

"Yeah, you did." Coco scoffed out, averting her gaze away from Lala because she felt hurt being this mean towards the fairy who looked like she was just as hurt as her. "But now, you want to leave me."

"I don’t want to leave you—"

"Yes, you do!" Coco said, raising her voice once again. "If you don’t, then you wouldn’t decide things on your own or even think about leaving me in this world alone!"

Coco’s eyesight became blurry with tears, unshed and unabashed, only threatening to spill, but never doing so because Coco refused to let herself cry in front of Lala when she felt so incredibly betrayed.

"I asked you for one

thing for killing me." Coco sniffled, her eyebrows furrowing. "I only asked you to stay with me, to be there in every step, in every achievement— in everything."

Lala looked away from Coco, her eyes darting everywhere inside the room, just not on her human friend because the mere sight of Coco’s unshed tears only broke her heart even more, and as if Coco’s words were not painful enough, Coco spoke up once more.

"I let my guard down and let myself feel down even if I didn’t want it, then the next thing I know is you overthinking everything and leaving me?" Coco growled out, her voice sounding harsh, so cruel, and so cold.

"Unbelievable." Coco hissed, shooting Lala one more glare before she walked past the garden fairy.

Lala’s heart dropped to her stomach the moment she saw Coco moved, her eyes widening in fright and nervousness, her gut feeling telling her that she must stop her human friend from walking away.

If she were to let Coco walk past the music room’s door, she just knew that her friendship with Coco would be forever strained.

"Wait, Coco!" Lala cried out, turning around and flying over to the woman who approached the door in an alarming speed.

"I’m sorry!" The garden fairy sobbed, finally letting her tears roll down her cheeks as she flew in front of Coco’s face to stop her from walking towards the door. "I’m sorry.. I’m so sorry. I’m really sorry."

"Why would you apologize?" Coco shot back Lala’s earlier question, the crease of her eyebrows lessening slightly.

"Because.. Because I was a jerk." Lala said, repeating Coco’s reasoning earlier as well. "I felt cast aside by you and thought that you would be better off without me because I’m the cause of your pain.."

"You’re more than a jerk, Lala." Coco stated softly, the glare was still present on her face, but the tone of her voice became less hostile.

"You’re a murderer." Coco said, going straight to the point, feeling like she needed to point it out now rather than later.

Lala’s shoulders twitched, her whole body flinching at the word that Coco used, but she knew that it was the truth— that she was a murderer.

Lala nodded her head, her gaze shifting downwards once more, as she silently agreed.

"But you’re going to atone to that sin by staying by my side." Coco quickly added to her previous statement. "I didn’t want to use you before because it was against my morals, but since you think it wasn’t enough.."

Coco paused, pondering about the right words to use. "Then, I’m going to use your abilities as much as I want."
