New World with Four Husbands
Chapter 437: Divorce
CHAPTER 437: DIVORCE
Coco stared back at Quizen, her eyebrows furrowed in both confusion and frustration.
The chocolatey drink was already forgotten by the table with the garden fairy standing beside it, her own face scrunched up in worry just like the husbands.
This is the third time Lala had seen Coco cry and it still wasn’t a good feeling.
However, she herself doesn’t know what could possibly be the problem at the moment because she’s sure that everything was fine before Coco started talking.
Coco sniffled, pressing her cheek on Quizen’s hand and letting her head rest on his hand.
Quizen’s face softened and a look of delight crossed his features when he felt the weight of his world on his hand, causing a small smile to emerge on his lips and nodding his head slowly.
"That’s right.. Don’t worry too much, okay?" Quizen murmured, his heart beating fast at the sight of Coco letting herself be soft in front of him.
"Me and the others wouldn’t be able to know what you have in mind if you don’t tell us.. It’s better to let us know so we’ll be able to help." The mediator murmured, his eyes flickering down from Coco’s eyes to her lips.
"But.. In this case, you have to help us so we can help you." He continued, his lips pursing at the thought of making Coco read whatever was the mission.
She told them earlier that the mission was the cause of her tears— well, she didn’t, but she doesn’t want to read the content anymore, so how would they know exactly what to do if they don’t know the content of the mission?
Quizen is treading the water slowly to make sure that he won’t make a ripple that would lead to his failure.
"We haven’t seen this mission you talk about.." Quizen hummed and kept caressing Coco’s cheeks with his thumbs to soothe her. "We don’t know what we need to do, wife.. You’re the only one who can help us, just like how we can be the only one who can help you."
As if on cue, Quizen was pulled away from Coco as soon as he felt a hand land on his shoulders.
He briefly saw a bob of red hair in his blurry eyesight before he was face to face with the kitchen floor, his eyes wide from disbelief and surprise.
Coco blinked owlishly as Zaque’s cold hand rested on her cheek that was awfully warm, making her flinch.
Zaque paused and pulled his hand away for a little almost immediately before flashing Coco a reassuring smile, causing her to bite her lower lip as she considered against it, she soon pressed her own face on his palm.
"Don’t shed tears on something that’s not meaningful, beautiful." Zaque said, soothing Coco by slowly pressing his forehead against her.
"We want to help you on this mission, but we first must know what you need to do to finish it." The first husband started as softly and gently as he could, closing his eyes and caressing Coco’s cheek to offer more comfort.
"I don’t like the idea of you hurting like this.. But this mission is a bother for you, right?" He continued and pulled away from her, staring directly into her glistening emerald irises.
Coco Hughes never looked attractive to his eyes, but Coco Coison.. She has always looked beautiful to Zaque’s eyes even if it was the body of the person who had hurt him and his friends before because he fell in love with the one inhabiting the body.
He had never had a problem with liking Coco from the start.. Well, except for fearing that he would ruin his friendship with the other husbands.
Soon, he couldn’t control his feelings for Coco anymore and ended up pleading for the mediators to understand him for liking Coco because he couldn’t stand the thought of not being able to like her in his own way.
So when they accepted his feelings for Coco, one way or another, he felt incredibly relieved.
Truly, that was the greatest day of his year.
He had never expected himself to be happy having his feelings accepted by the people he loved, but he was more than thankful that they accepted him.. Even if one of them were vocally against it.
With the sight of Coco looking upset with the quest she received.. There might be a chance she likes them as well.
After all, Coco is not the brightest light bulb on the shelf in terms of realizing someone’s feeling— even if that feeling was her own, no?
However, he still wasn’t sure if she was upset at the fact that she received a seemingly difficult mission or she was upset at what kind of mission it is, but either way, he will make sure to help get rid of that quest.
"Would you mind telling me what you think of the content of that mission of yours?" Zaque hummed out, smiling softly.
Coco stared at his eyes for a moment, her beautiful emerald irises searching for anything that potentially told her what he was thinking at that moment, only for her to see a strange look— something that she was quite unfamiliar with.
Reluctantly, Coco shook her head and opened her lips to answer his question.
"No.. I don’t mind." She murmured, her tears having halted on their tracks, but the recent ones that ran down her cheeks left a trail on their wake which left her looking like a mess.
She was such a beautiful mess.
"I think.. The quest wanted me to divorce the four of you so you can find a new wife." Coco answered, her voice dripping with uncertainty.
Zaque stared at her and didn’t react right away, but he hummed and snaked his hand behind her head to pull her face to the crook of his neck, hugging her tight against him to shield her vision of his face.
The first husband’s expression darkened.
