New World with Four Husbands
Chapter 453: Pancakes
CHAPTER 453: PANCAKES
"Welcome back, Coco." Heiren greeted the black haired woman as soon as she got back from Jacques’ house. "Alhai, Quizen, and Zaque already left for work."
Coco blinked and turned to look at Heiren, her eyes glittering with wonder.
"I don’t know what you like with your pancakes so I just separated the chocolate syrup, honey, and the maple syrup on different cups." Heiren continued, grabbing ahold of Coco’s wrist and started leading her to the kitchen.
Coco didn’t fight back and instead, shifted her gaze to Heiren’s hand on her wrist.
She may have not confessed— nor is she planning to, considering that Quizen already has someone he likes— but she at least can show how she likes them in her own way, right?
"Hey, Heiren?" Coco called as they walked through the threshold of the kitchen.
"Hm?" Heiren hummed and turned his attention to her, a small smile emerging in his lips as he tilted his head. "What’s wrong?"
"Can I hold your hand?" Coco asked, averting her gaze.
Looking at Heiren straight in the eyes is a little too much for her heart, especially now that she knows that she has feelings for him.
Being aware that she likes someone.. Is a strange.
She had never liked someone before and she had no experience dating anyone when she was still living on Earth, so whatever she’s doing right now, is all based on what she has seen in television shows and read in books.
Speaking of which, doesn’t this world have a television?
"Of course, why can’t you hold my hand? You’re my wife and I’m your husband." Heiren answered, stating the words with a matter-of-fact tone accompanied with a smile. "We’re married so you can hold my hand whenever you want."
The answer knocked the air off her lungs.
Yeah.. We’re married. Coco thought to herself, getting dragged by Heiren to the table.
Coco had stayed in Jacques’ house for almost three hours so by the time she went back to the Hughes household, it was already past noon.
As Coco got seated on her usual seat on the table by Heiren, she couldn’t help, but wonder what other things she could do with the husbands’ permission— both in words wise and action wise.
Can she hold their hands? Can she touch them whenever she wants? Can she plant a kiss on their cheeks, foreheads, and lips? Or maybe.. She can give them those passionate kisses she had seen in movies that lovers share with each other?
Can she tell them how much she likes them without them feeling disgusted by her confession? Can she tell them how she feelings towards them without them reeling back from annoyance or anger?
She managed to be friends with Zaque back in the village, but Heiren and Quizen became her friends when they arrived in the main city.
Not to mention, Alhai recently confessed to her.. But doesn’t that mean that he doesn’t like her when she first came into their lives because she is possessing the woman who used to abuse them?
"Here you go, Coco." Heiren said, his voice dripping with delight.
All kinds of thoughts crossed Coco’s mind, but all of them vanished the moment Heiren took a seat in front of her after he handed her the pancakes, chocolate drink, and the syrups.
"Zaque helped me cook the pancakes." Heiren informed her, smiling softly. "There’s a filling.. I think you might like it because it’s your favorite one."
From his words alone, Coco just knows what he’s talking about.
"It’s chocolate, isn’t it?" Coco asked, her eyes filled with mirth and excitement as an unabashed smile rose in her lips while she reached for the pancakes.
"That’s correct." Heiren chuckled, watching Coco fumble using the fork and knife.
Coco cut the pancake in half and almost immediately, the familiar dark color of chocolate came seeping out of the bread, staining the plate with chocolate goodness.
"Wow, how did you two manage to make this?" Coco inquired, her face brightening as she lifted the fork to her lips, pushing the pancake dipped in its dripping filling inside her mouth.
"We just cooked the other side first before we flipped it and placed the chocolate." Heiren told her, his eyes observing the way Coco chewed the treat with delight.
"And then?" Coco urged him to continue, already reaching for another bite.
"Then we poured more batter on top of the chocolate to cover it up." Heiren continued, flashing her a proud smile, his gaze following Coco’s tongue that dipped out to lick the chocolate that dripped from the corner of her lips.
Coco chewed the pancake first and swallowed before she spoke up. "Really? That’s really amazing of you and Zaque."
Coco didn’t look up from the pancake as she ate, which gave the brown haired mediator to keep his eyes on her the whole time until she finished eating.
An hour has passed, Heiren is busy marinating a certain part of a flying pig on different sauces with Coco washing the dishes by the sink because she insisted on doing something and not just sit around.
As Coco washes the dishes, her earlier thought about the television crossed her mind again.
Clearing her throat and catching Heiren’s attention, she turned her head to look at him to ask a question. "Does this world have a magical television or something that we can use to watch and entertain ourselves during a rest day?"
Heiren paused from flipping the pork on the sauce and blinked. "Are you talking about a television box?"
"Television box? Is that what you call it?" Coco raised an eyebrow and turned back to the dishes she’s washing. "If so, then yes? I just wanted you and the others to watch something whenever you want."
Heiren’s heart fluttered in his chest again, the corner of his lips curling up into a smile.
"Yeah, Ersthan has it." He answered.
"Great, then let’s go out and buy one before the others get back from work."
