CHAPTER 468: UNKNOWN CREATURE

"You’re going to where?" Zaque asked, almost dropping the mug he was holding from how flabbergasted he felt at the news he heard.

"I have to go out to stop a special type of goleter because if I don’t, this city will be attacked." Coco repeated what she said earlier, sitting down on her usual seat by the dining table and smiled at him.

"Why? That’s dangerous!" Heiren exclaimed, putting down Coco’s plate on the table.

"Don’t worry." Coco said while shifting her gaze down to the food. "I already sent Sin a letter earlier when I received the quest. He’s a hybrid so I’m sure he’ll be able to help me if I encounter any trouble."

Heiren and Zaque exchanged glances, both worried behind words, but it’s Coco they’re worried about..

"Okay, wife." Zaque mumbled, sighing.

"What time will Sin arrive?" Heiren asked to change the topic into a more lighthearted one.

"Maybe after he had his breakfast, I don’t know." Coco answered with a shrug, grabbing her utensils and pulling her plate closer to her.

"I’ll eat real quick, then I’ll be off." Coco informed them before digging into her food.

Once again, the second and the first husbands shared worried glances to each other, but didn’t say anything that might make Coco upset before she leaves.

By the time when Sinclair arrived with a carriage, Coco was already waiting in front of the gate with the two husbands.

"Master!" The hybrid’s red eyes were bright and sparkling with enthusiasm as he opened the carriage door. "It’s so nice to see you that you’re doing well."

Coco laughed at the sight of Sinclair looking like he’s blooming.

"It has been a while!" Coco beamed at him and mounted the carriage with the help of the hybrid, causing the husbands to become bitter, but they became even more bitter when Sinclair closed the door on their faces.

As soon as Coco got inside the wooden vehicle, the carriage started moving and went full speed ahead to get to the hunter guild.

She stumbled forward towards her seat, but thankfully, Sinclair was quick to help her get on the cushion.

"I did my best to be as fast as I could when I received your urgent call for help, master." The hybrid said, smiling softly when Coco started making herself comfortable on her seat. "You have no idea how much it made me happy that you called for me to help."

Coco paused shifting in a comfortable position and looked at Sinclair, slightly confused.

"Why? I’m bothering you right now, but you’re happy?" She tilted her head and flashed him a smile, the kind of smile that even if she was confused, she would welcome any kind of answer.

Well, Sinclair is not the type to worry about his answer anyway so that smile didn’t work.

"You’re my master, Coco." Sinclair pointed out with a matter-of-fact tone, as if it was the common knowledge to the people of the kingdom. "A defective familiar like me became strong because I have someone like you as my master."

Coco nodded her head slowly, still not getting what he wanted to point out.

"You’re not defective by the way." Coco countered with a frown. "Just because you were different from your peers doesn’t make you defective, okay?"

"You’re still as kind as I remember." Sinclair chuckled, his eyes twinkling with happiness.

"I don’t think I’ll change.. And I’m not kind either." Coco argued, shaking her head to deny his words as if they were like accusations. "I love you so I can stay by your side. If you’re someone different.. Well, that would be a story for another time."

"I’m quite curious." Sinclair hummed, laughing softly. "But we can talk about it for another time since we’re already here."

"What?" Coco perked up from her seat, eyes wide and rushed to the window to look if they were in front of the hunter guild. "It usually takes me almost an hour to arrive at the guild! Carriage is the best, really!"

Sinclair shook his head, laughing under his breath.

"Anyway, stay here! I’ll grab a random mission and bring Neo with me!" Coco announced and opened the carriage door, slamming it behind her before Sinclair could respond.

Sinclair blinked and stared out of the window, watching Coco as she walked inside the building.

Then, his pair of red eyes landed on a small creature laying beside Coco’s spot earlier, its red hair and overall red attire catching his attention almost immediately.

He remained silent when he first caught sight of it when Coco came to view, he forced himself to greet his master as cheerfully as he could to not garner any suspicion on her part, but it was quite hard when the creature flew out of his master’s head to land beside her.

What is this creature? Sinclair wondered, his eyebrows furrowing and eyes narrowing into a scrutinizing gaze.

It’s the first time he had seen something like it.

Has this creature trailed my master all this time? It looked quite comfortable sitting on top of her head earlier.. The hybrid continued wondering, his gaze hardening as the creature yawned.

His hands curled into fists and he was about to slam his fist on the creature, but the door swung open.

"I’m back! I brought Neo with me!" Coco announced her arrival with a big smile and behind her, Sinclair could see someone tall and towering over Coco’s smaller frame.

Coco didn’t waste any time to get inside and went back to her previous seat, like clockwork, the small creature’s wings started fluttering as it made its way back to Coco’s hair and settled itself on her black hair.

Sinclair’s lips parted from disbelief, but he couldn’t say anything because there was someone untrustworthy with them.

The hybrid flashed Neo a tight smile and nodded his head to show that he’s acknowledging his presence.

I’ll get another chance later. Sinclair mused in his mind.
