Chapter 471: King beast?
CHAPTER 471: KING BEAST?
Heiren was about to enter the kitchen, but abruptly halted as the sound of the front door opening captured his attention.
He turned his head towards the entrance, curiosity piqued by the unexpected arrival because it was a little early for anyone to be back just yet.
Coco’s weary form staggered through the doorway, her body heavy with fatigue and the aches of battle earlier.
However, her spirits lifted when she spotted Heiren which caused her face to light up in greeting. "Heiren! Hello! Good evening—"
She started to greet him, but her words were cut off mid-sentence as her foot caught on something causing her to trip forward, stumbling a short moment before catching herself. "Woah!"
Heiren’s eyes widened in alarm as he saw the small stone-like object, just below knee height, suddenly spring to life and deliberately trip Coco.
Its red eyes, filled with a malicious intent, glared up at Coco, who had stumbled forward, catching herself just in time.
"What the—" Heiren exclaimed, taken aback by the bizarre sight before him, but he instinctively stepped forward, his protective instincts kicking in as he assessed the strange, animated object.
Heiren acted quickly and firmly before he lashed out with a powerful kick.
"Ow! You puny human! How dare you kick a king beast such as myself?!" The animated object let out a high-pitched cry of pain, the voice sounded indignant, its words tinged with an almost comical sense of self-importance.
Heiren’s eyes narrowed, his expression a mix of annoyance and skepticism.
"A king beast?" He questioned, his tone laced with disbelief. "You’re a stone creature smaller than a knee, but you demand to be treated as royalty?"
The animated stone creature let out a dramatic gasp, its voice filled with apparent astonishment.
"How dare you?! I am a king beast—" It cried, its words coming out in a high-pitched tone, but it stopped talking when Coco leaned down and grasped its head firmly.
"Let go of me!" The creature cried, struggling to continue its protest, but its words were abruptly halted as Coco tightened her hold of it, the creature’s eyes widened, suddenly remembering the grave situation it had gotten itself into, effectively silencing it.
Coco smiled at Heiren, her grip on the creature’s head tightening slightly as she explained. "Indeed, this thing is a former king beast—"
Before she could finish her sentence, the creature interrupted, its voice laced with defiance. "I didn’t surrender!"
Ignoring the goleter’s protest, Coco continued speaking, shaking it lightly in her grip for emphasis. "And because I bested him in battle and he submitted, he is now my pet, but do you know why?"
The goleter glowered up at her, its defiant gaze meeting hers before it let out a low grumble, its ego wounded by its defeat and having reduced to the status of a pet.
Heiren couldn’t help, but raise an eyebrow at Coco’s nonchalant demeanor so he stepped closer, amusement and curiosity flickering in his eyes. "And why is that?"
Coco forced a smile widened, her grip on the creature loosening a little.

She paused for a moment, her eyes shifting to the quest she received after the goleter became small, then she brought her attention back to Heiren. "Because he’s weak. Despite the pride he claims as a former king beast, he still couldn’t match my strength."
She gave the creature a slight shake again for emphasis, demonstrating the ease with which she held its form in her grasp.
The monster settled down a little, but its body kept thrashing defiantly as it tried to free itself.
"Heiren? Is that Coco?"
In the midst of the commotion, a voice echoed through the house, calling out to Heiren from the kitchen.
Heiren turned his head, his attention momentarily torn away from Coco and the strange creature as he answered the voice from the kitchen, his voice clear and loud. "Yep! She’s here. And she has something.. Unique to show us."
Coco’s grin widened, her face filled with excitement as she heard Heiren’s words before quickly dashing towards the kitchen, still holding the struggling creature firmly in her grip.
The journey was short and within moments, Coco burst into the kitchen, her form radiating with eagerness.
With a slight bounce in her step, she entered the room, holding up the squirming creature like a hunter displaying a prized catch.
"Look, Zaque!" She exclaimed. "I’ve obtained myself a pet after finishing my quest!"
Zaque raised an eyebrow as he took note of the unusual sight— the sound of Coco’s voice filled the room with enthusiasm as she waved the small, animated stone creature made him smile.
"I see.. And what exactly is this.. Pet?" He inquired.
Coco’s carefree giggle echoed in the kitchen, causing Zaque to momentarily lose himself in her contagious cheerfulness, his heart involuntarily fluttering for a brief moment.
"This is a goleter." She explained, her voice filled with enthusiasm. "And it had wicked intentions because it was planning to destroy the entire city for no apparent reason, you know!"
The goleter, still struggling and squirming in Coco’s grip, protested loudly. "Excuse me?!"
It grumbled, its voice tinged with irritation. "No apparent reason?! I was planning to eliminate you! That’s quite a clear motive, outlander!"
A protective glint flashed in Zaque’s eyes.
He swiftly stepped forward, reaching out to take the monster from Coco’s grasp and with a firm yet gentle hold, he took control of the squirming creature, his gaze fixed on it with intense glare.
"To eliminate my wife, huh?" He said, his voice laced with a threatening edge. "You’ve got some audacity, you little stone monster."
The goleter felt a chill, causing him to shut up.
