New World with Four Husbands
Chapter 487: Meeting with Sinclair
CHAPTER 487: MEETING WITH SINCLAIR
Coco finished her breakfast, savoring the last mouthful of food before gently putting down her utensils.
As she did so, Heiren approached, placing a steaming cup of morning chocolate drink before her.
"Remember to take it easy today." Heiren reminded her, concern lacing his voice. "You’re still in the process of recovering so please don’t push yourself too hard."
Coco nodded in understanding, accepting the steaming drink from Heiren with a grateful smile.
"Don’t worry, I won’t push myself too hard." She reassured him. "I just have some important matters to discuss with Sinclair and as always, the meal was absolutely delicious."
She sipped on her drink, relishing the rich flavor of chocolate before continuing. "You’ve outdone yourself yet again, Heiren."
Heiren immediately blushed at Coco’s compliment, a nervous chuckle escaping his lips as he fidgeted restlessly, glancing between Coco and the exit.
He looked around for an excuse to use and suddenly exclaimed." Oh my, would you look at that, Coco! It’s already time to take our goleter for a walk!"
It was clear he desperately wanted to leave and avoid any further praise for his cooking skills, but Coco didn’t comment on that.
The said goleter who was walking past the kitchen suddenly found himself being pulled away by Heiren who ran up to him at a terrifying speed.
With a bewildered expression, he protested. "Wait, what?! Walk?! I don’t need—"
However, before he could finish his questioning, Heiren hastily dragged him away, his voice calling out to Coco one last time. "I’ll walk him now! Good luck with work, Coco!"
Coco couldn’t help, but burst out laughing at the comical scene, the tension from earlier completely dissolved by the goleter’s bewildered expression.
The sight of Heiren hurriedly pulling the goleter away, the goleter’s bewildered expression, and Heiren’s unbelievable excuse made the situation all the more hilarious.
"Goodness! Pfft— that was funny." She snickered, wiping a tear from the corner of her eye. "It seems like Heiren is in a rush to walk that goleter. Poor guy looks so confused."
Sinclair shook his head, amusement glinting in his eyes as he finished the last bite of his meal.
He let out a soft chuckle, his voice filled with playful surprise. "I have to say, I never knew you had it in you to tease your husbands, master."
He hummed, finding the situation rather endearing than hilarious. "It’s quite entertaining to witness, I have to say."
Coco rolled her eyes playfully, her words tinged with affection and amusement.
"If it wasn’t already obvious, I love them." She replied, her tone soft yet filled with warmth. "If I can, I would have given that man a kiss for being so cute."
She let out a soft laugh, her expression fond as she continued. "So of course, I’m more than happy to bring a bit of lighter moments into their day. They deserve it, especially when they look so adorably confused."
Sinclair nodded, a polite and pleased smile on his face. "You’re absolutely right."
"I know I am." Coco sassed.
"It is quite entertaining to witness their flustered reactions to simple compliments." He chuckled softly, his eyes sparkling with a touch of mischief. "They become so uncharacteristically shy and bashful. It’s almost endearing."
Coco shook her head, trying to suppress her giggles.
"Alright, alright." She said with a quiet laugh. "Let’s head to my office. We have that important matter to discuss."
She stood up from her seat, smoothing out her clothes and gesturing for Sinclair to follow her. "Come on, let’s get going."
Coco exited the room and climbed the stairs, Sinclair following closely behind her, their footsteps echoing softly in the empty hallway.
Once they reached the top and arrived at the door to Coco’s office, which was conveniently situated just next to her room, Coco glanced at Sinclair with a nod.
"Here we are." She said as she opened the door. "Come on, let’s head inside."
Coco walked into the room while glancing back over her shoulder to make sure Sinclair had followed, and once he entered, she closed the door gently, securing their privacy.
She walked over to her chair, taking a seat and gesturing for him to take the vacant chair opposite her.
"Please, make yourself comfortable." She said, the look on her face now formal and serious. "We have some important matters to discuss so grab a seat and let’s get started."
Sinclair couldn’t help, but shiver slightly as he noticed the change in Coco’s demeanor— she appeared more serious and focused which was rare so it left him feeling slightly intimidated.
He swallowed nervously and responded, his voice respectful. "Understood, master."
He took a seat across from her, his eyes fixed on her, awaiting her instructions, but his gaze darted down as soon as Coco tossed a letter onto the table.
"This is what we need to discuss." Coco stated, her gaze firm as she gestured towards the envelope in front of them.
She waited for a moment, allowing the presence of the letter to sink into Sinclair’s head before she continued and sighed. "It’s from the Baroness herself."
"Sent directly to Kairo, no less." She added, grimacing.
Sinclair took the envelope in his hands, his brow furrowed in worry as he glanced between the letter and Coco, his mind working to understand the situation.
"I see.." He murmured, his eyes flicking back to the envelope, then to Coco again. "Given that you’re sharing the contents of the letter with me, I’m assuming that there’s a specific reason for it."
He paused for a moment, pondering his words carefully before speaking again. "And if I’m understanding correctly.. The Baroness is coming for Kairo, correct?"
Coco nodded in affirmation, her expression solemn. "That’s correct."
"Once again, I’m assuming that she’s out to target Kairo’s head?" Sinclair questioned, his gaze drifting down to the letter.
"You’re right.." Coco sighed. "And unfortunately, if the Baroness is after Kairo for refusing to be her lackey, then I’m sure that she’ll come for Jacques and Renaldo as well."
