CHAPTER 510: ABDUCTION [2]

Before the guildmaster could finish what he was saying, Coco ran out of the room and sprinted down the hall.

"What are you all standing around for?!" Mr. Covez hissed as he snapped out of his surprise, his expression stern. "Follow her! We can’t let her act out without a plan!"

The senior hunters hesitated for a brief moment, surprised by the urgency in his voice, but quickly snapped to attention.

They quickly exchanged glances, their expressions hardening, and wasted no time in obeying the guildmaster’s order as they swiftly exited the office, hurrying out of the building to catch up with Coco and Heiren.

Once the hunters emerged from the building, they scanned their surroundings before spotting a carriage waiting nearby.

One of the hunters hurried towards the coachman who was seated on top of the carriage, barking out an order. "Quick! Go to the gate!"

Five of them jumped to the carriage and almost immediately, the carriage lurched into action, its wheels rumbling against the ground as it picked up speed quickly, heading towards the nearby gates leading outside the town.

Somewhere ahead of the carriage, Coco was yelling at someone.

"Go faster, mister!’ Coco hissed and couldn’t help but feel frustrated by the slow pace of the carriage. "Why is this carriage so slow?! Can’t you see that we’re in a hurry right now?!"

The coachman, already working to quicken the horses’pace, shot her an apologetic glance over his shoulder.

"I’m trying, miss!" He called back, his voice strained with the effort of slamming the reins in the middle of the air. "These horses are going as fast as they can! I can’t have them run faster than this!"

Coco gritted her teeth, her frustration only growing with every passing second.

Heiren, who was seated on her lap, could sense her anxiety and restlessness, his own heart hammering in his chest.

Unsure of how to help or ease her nerves, he swallowed heavily, his mind racing to find a way to calm her down, but deep down, he knew that nothing would be able to calm her down except for making sure that her friend is fine.

So despite the tension in the carriage and the obvious urgency, the silence was deafening.

Everyone present knew that every second counted, and they were forced to rely on the pace of the horses which seemed agonizingly sluggish in this dire situation.

When the carriage finally arrived at the gates, Coco’s impatience could no longer be contained and in a blink of an eye, she leaped off before the wooden vehicle before it even came to a complete halt.

"Coco!" Heiren was caught off guard by her sudden move and couldn’t help, but let out a startled scream.

The coachman stared wide-eyed at Coco’s abrupt exit, the horses whinnying restlessly as the carriage came to a complete stop— even the surrounding guards were taken aback by the scene, unsure of how to react to such a reckless display.

Thankfully, Coco landed on the ground with grace, her hands holding onto Heiren tightly.

She didn’t spare a moment to acknowledge the guards at the gate, who stared at her in bewilderment.

Without uttering a single word, Coco turned and dashed through the gate, her feet moving swiftly and deliberately as she ran past the guards that were standing by the gates.

The guards, momentarily dumbfounded, shook themselves out of their surprise, their instincts kicking in.

"Halt! Halt, miss!" One of them called out, trying to stop her.

Coco continued to run forward with her eyebrows furrowing in concentration. "Sinclair! Wherever you are right now and whatever you’re doing right now, drop it and get your ass over here!"

As the last syllable of Coco’s command left her lips, a loud caw echoed through the air, cutting through the noises.

Just then, a massive black bird appeared in the sky which came from the direction of the city, its wings spread wide as it swooped towards Coco’s sprinting form.

"I sensed your anxiety, master! I left as soon as I felt it." Sinclair informed Coco, his majestic black wings flew with powerful flaps, closing in quickly on his mistress.

The guards at the gate watched in awe, their eyes widening at the sight of the giant bird descending to Coco.

"Then hurry! Take me to where Kairo is!" Coco called and continued to run at full speed, her adrenaline rush pushing her forward to run past her limit.

"Yes, master!" Sinclair responded with an affirmative caw, understanding the urgency in her voice.

With each powerful flap of his wings, he closed the distance between them, adjusting his flight to match her height and the guards at the gate could only watch in amazement as the bird and the sprinting woman moved closer with a clear purpose.

Sinclair gracefully lowered his massive frame, hovering just above the ground.

Coco seized the opportunity and clumsily jumped on his back, grasping onto his tough feathers before hauling herself and Heiren up onto his back.

"Hang on tight, master!" Sinclair said and gave one final, powerful caw, signalling to them that he was ready to depart.

Then, with a continuous strong flap of his wings, the giant bird lunged into the air, lifting Coco and Heiren off the ground like they weighed nothing on his back.

"AHHHHHHHHH!"

Heiren was unprepared for the sudden ascent so he couldn’t help, but scream at the top of his lungs as the ground grew farther under them.

The mediator’s arms clutched tighter around Coco, his hands gripping the back of her shirt in a desperate grip.

"Sinclair, can you locate Kairo’s exact location? Unfortunately, I only know he’s somewhere in the southwest outside the city!" Coco exclaimed, feeling frustrated with the lack of information.

The huge black bird nodded his head in affirmation, his focus on the sky ahead of them.

Sinclair quickly flapped his wings, changing directions to head towards southwest, his powerful flaps propelling them through the air with speed.
