CHAPTER 511: ABDUCTION [3]

Sinclair kept flying at full speed while carrying Coco and Heiren through the air with calculated precision, his wings beating rhythmically to maintain their speed.

After a short journey in the sky, a mountain top came into sight which made the massive black bird lower his height, descending towards the rocky terrain.

Heiren was still clinging to Coco so to look over, he had peered over her shoulder, his eyes wide with fear and excitement as they approached the mountainside.

"Is this where you can sense Kairo?" Coco asked the hybrid, her eyes trained on the mountain below them.

"Yes, master! I could sense him somewhere down below—" Sinclair answered, but he was cut off.

Coco impulsively jumped off before Sinclair could even finish a safe landing, leaving both him and Heiren startled.

"Coco?!"

"Master?!"

The two roared in unison at Coco’s display of lack of concern for her own— and Heiren’s safety.

The black bird cawed in surprise, his wings flapping furiously to regain balance while Heiren could only let out a fearful scream, his grip on Coco tightening.

"Hold on!" Coco told the mediator in her arms and soon, Coco landed on the ground with grace, unbothered by the perilous jump she had just pulled, but of course, Heiren wasn’t in the same state as her.

"What’s wrong with you?!" The mediator cried out, his tears falling out of his eyes as he buried his face on Coco’s shoulder.

Sinclair immediately flew down once he saw Coco landed safely and while he was still mid-fall, he suddenly transformed from his bird form back into his human form, concern and annoyance etched on his face.

Frustration beyond words, the hybrid called out to Coco with a scolding tone. "Master, that was incredibly dangerous!"

He landed perfectly on his feet, his arms reaching out instinctively to steady himself despite the sudden transformation, his eyes fixed on Coco’s form, clearly disapproving of her reckless actions.

"Shh, Sinclair." Coco hushed him and disregarded Sinclair’s reprimand, pressed forward with urgency as she waved her hand dismissively at him.

Her gaze scanned the rocky terrain around them as she inquired. "Can you hear him somewhere around here? I can’t tell much, but I have a feeling that he’s nearby.."

Sinclair felt slightly bristled from his previous comment being disregarded, but he sighed and closed his eyes.

"You better listen to my nagging later, master." Sinclair muttered before his keen senses started to strain themselves to discern any hint of Kairo’s whereabouts.

Rustle, rustle, then muffled grunting.

Sinclair abruptly snapped his head in the direction of the mountain, his eyes narrowing as he honed in on the source of Kairo’s muffled cries.

"Over there, I could hear him, but it’s muffle—" He quickly informed Coco, but before he could utter another word, Coco had already broken into a full-speed sprint, ignoring his attempt to caution her once again.

Sinclair stood stunned for a moment, his words cut short by her rapid departure.

"Master!" He called out, but he saw that she wasn’t going to turn around anytime soon.. He could only let out an exasperated sigh and shake his head before rushing after her, muttering colorful words under his breath.

Coco sprinted at full speed towards the base of the mountain, a neutral expression etched on her face as her eyebrows furrowed in concentration.

Coco’s feet pounded against the rocky path beneath the sole of her feet, her gaze fixed on the mountain before her, her focus unwavering as she tightened her grip on Heiren’s body.

Each stride of her feet, she pushed herself to move even faster, closing the distance to the base of the mountain.

Sinclair was quick to catch up to his master and could only watch her receding form with concern and confusion, knowing her single-mindedness often hindered her rationality, but why would she go this far for Kairo?

Coco pushed herself further, but she abruptly came to a halt when something caught her eye.

A flicker of movement on the periphery of her vision skidded her from progression, causing her steps to falter and instinctively turned her head, her gaze darting towards the spot on the corner of her vision, her instincts kicking into action.

Someone thing moved, but what is—

Coco’s thought was snapped back to reality when her eyes caught something, then her body acted on its own accord, forcefully slamming against the figure of what caught her eye.

"Ugh!" Heiren groaned in pain as he got sandwiched, his eyes shutting tight at the pain.

The sudden collision sent the three individuals tumbling to the ground, their bodies landing in a tangle of limbs.

The impact left Coco momentarily dazed, her mind attempting to catch up with her body’s actions.

However, as she lay there, trying to regain her bearings, the person beneath her let out a gasp, the surprise evident in their voice.

"What is your problem, human?!" They hissed, grunting in pain.

Coco’s thoughts, previously disoriented, abruptly snapped back into focus which caused her eyes, filled with suspicion, locked onto the person she had just tackled.

"You.." Coco growled, her hand flying to the person’s neck, except now— the said person’s true nature became clear: the monster in disguise.

"What?" The monster hissed, his monster face was torn in between its human disguise and its original face which seems to be an unknown type of monster. "Why are you tackling a member of your guild?"

"A member of my guild?" Coco snapped and tightened her grip on the monster’s neck, making him choke on air. "I don’t fucking care who or what you are! Where’s Kairo?!"

The monster looked quite confused at her question, but a flicker of recognition and realization crossed his irises.

"Is.. Is.. That why.. You’re so.. Mad..?" The monster managed to choke out, grinning from ear to ear. "Now.. I know.. Why.. Master wanted.. Me to.. Take him.."

The information hit her like a slap to the face.

This one is a lackey? Coco thought, her expression darkening with her glare sharpening.
