CHAPTER 516: SENIOR HUNTERS’ TALK

"Take care of them." Alucard said towards the coachman. "If they didn’t make it back to the guild, I’ll personally hunt you—"

Alucard’s words got cut off by Yuuko grabbing ahold of his collar and yanking him back, the sudden movement causing his horse to let out a loud whine.

"Stop threatening people." Yuuko stated with a pointed stare that was accompanied by a tug on his collar. "That’s unbecoming of you."

While Yuuko was busy scolding Alucard, Akane guided her horse to go to the carriage’s door which had its window open with Heiren peering over and watching everything unfold.

The blonde hunter smiled at the mediator, making Heiren flash her a smile of his own.

Akane could feel that it was forced though.

How adorable of him. She thought, waving to the coachman and giving him the signal to depart.

"What— hey! I wasn’t done talking to that man, Akane!" Alucard exclaimed when he saw the carriage moving away from their spot on the gate. "That man doesn’t look too trustworthy, you know!"

Akane sighed softly and slowly turned to Alucard, her lips curled down into a frown.

"Just because the man doesn’t look trustful doesn’t mean we should judge him." Akane said, shaking her head in disappointment at how judgemental Alucard was. "Besides, are you seriously worrying about Coco right now?"

It was Alucard’s turn to frown. "Of course. She’s my junior. Why wouldn’t I be?"

Greinzer scoffed at that. "Why worry about your junior who can beat you in mere seconds? Without having to touch her trustworthy farming hoe at that, if I may add."

"Hey!" Alucard whined and glared at the scarred hunter. "I’m not that weak!"

"You’re not that strong to beat her either." Yuuko said with a snort and turned to the most quiet hunter of the group. "Isn’t that right, Miki?"

The hunter with white hair nodded her head, glancing back at Alucard. "She’s stronger than the five of us combined.. And that’s already a lot coming from the five senior hunters of the guild."

"True.." Greinzer mumbled, his eyebrows furrowing.

The five of us combined can take down hundreds of guards if we were thrown into a baffle field. The black haired hunter thought, his eyes training towards the carriage that slowly disappeared in the distance.

"I have seen Coco fight against monsters." Greinzer spoke up and grabbed everyone’s attention. "She has a lot of vigor and is very strong."

"Right." Yuuko agreed with a nod. "Not to mention, I saw how she took down that special goleter by herself.."

".. And it was quite a sight." Miki finished Yuuko’s sentence, making Yuuko grin.

"Exactly." Yuuko nodded her head again and turned to Alucard. "So if I were you, I would worry about the coachman instead— that is, if he attacked one of the people inside the carriage with Coco around."

"Even if she wasn’t around actually." Akane spoke up and made everyone’s eyes turn to her.

"Oh, yeah." Yuuko chuckled and kicked the stirrup lightly to make her horse move towards Akane’s horse. "Look at how fast she found that mediator without our help."

"Speaking of which.." Miki mumbled, but it was loud enough for everyone to hear.

Besides, Miki is so quiet to the point that whenever she speaks, the four of them would pick it up no matter how loud their surroundings are.

"How did Mrs. Hughes manage to find him?" Miki inquired no one in particular, her eyebrows furrowing in both confusion and suspicion. "It’s not like she made the carriage run to where we located that mediator’s mana, right?"

"You’re onto something." Alucard commented, the playful expression on his face vanishing.

"This isn’t the first time it happened." Yuuko backed Miki’s words up with her statement. "It already happened a couple of times.. She’s a child of Baron Hughes, not a descendant of Duke Dilitriodix—"

"I believe that this is not the appropriate place to discuss this matter." Greinzer spoke up all of a sudden and cut Yuuko off.

The four hunters turned to him, their eyes slightly wide with realization.

"Goodness, you’re right." Akane said as she placed a palm on her cheek. "Do forgive us, Greinzer. Thank you for calling us out. It’s best if we go back to the guild first before we talk about this."

"Don’t apologize to me." The scarred face hunter stated bluntly. "But again, this is not the place to gossip about our juniors."

"Sure, boss." Alucard grumbled and rolled his eyes. "We get that Coco is your favorite at the moment, but there’s no need to be cruel to our lovely Akane, no? Cut us some slack."

"Akane knew what we did was wrong, but you’re whining like a baby?" Greinzer asked, raising an eyebrow.

The question itself made Alucard freeze on the back of his horse and have his lips parted from shock, his eyes widening as he whipped his head to glare at Greinzer.

Greinzer quickly swerved his horse around and slammed the reins, making his horse gallop away from the blonde man.

"You!" Alucard screamed and kicked the stirrup which urged the horse to start moving. "Come back here, Greinzer! You have no right to call me like that as if you don’t whine, too!"

The huntresses could only watch the two men slowly disappear from their sights.

"Greinzer seemed mature when I first met him." Yuuko commented with a smirk. "But now? I could tell that he could be immature when it comes to riling up Alucard."

"And there’s a person who would fall for those words." Akane hummed, smiling.

"Anyway, let’s go after them." Yuuko said and kicked the stirrup of her saddle, making her horse move forward. "It would be best to catch up with Coco before they leave the guild."

"Why?" Miki asked, following Yuuko.

"To assess her closely." The black haired woman stated with a smirk. "I don’t want to judge so I’m going to do what I do best."

"Which is judging." Miki said with a deadpan stare.
