New World with Four Husbands
Chapter 518: Rant and distraction
CHAPTER 518: RANT AND DISTRACTION
"They were annoying." Coco grumbled under her breath as she gently placed Kairo down on the carriage’s seat.
The mediators exchanged looks, both feeling worried about what Coco meant with her words.
"Can you believe how that woman tried to intimidate you just because you’re my husband, Heiren?" The black haired woman asked, snapping her attention to the mediator that sat across her.
"Huh..? No? I genuinely thought that she was asking if what you said was true—" Heiren spoke up and tried to at least protect the hunters’ image, but Coco scoffed, which caused him to flinch and swallow the lump forming in his throat.
"Yeah, well, that wasn’t what she was trying to do." Coco huffed out and crossed her arms.
The action made Coco’s chest hike up, catching Heiren’s attention and shifting his gaze down to her ample bosoms that seemed to stare back at him and beckon to get closer to them.
"She clearly doesn’t see you as someone important so she tried to disregard what I said by shifting the attention on you." Coco continued and frowned, her eyebrows creasing together as she shook her head in disapproval.
"I had them in high regards, you know?" Coco muttered and felt her heart breaking slightly. "I thought that they were good people.. Turns out, only some of them are—"
Just as Coco was about to finish speaking, the carriage’s wheel got caught in a large stone which made the carriage shake.
Heiren and Kairo were quick to put their hands on the wooden vehicle’s walls, but Coco was somehow used to the motions of vehicles like this due to the public transportation she often took in her past life.
All she has to do is plant the sole of her boots firmly on the floor and push herself against her seat.
It actually worked so she managed to stabilize herself, but with the whole carriage shaking— the three of them still got shaken in their seats, one way or another.
This got Kairo and Heiren worried for Coco so they quickly turned to Coco to ask if she was okay.
However, their gazes caught sight of Coco’s soft chest bouncing as the carriage slowly became stable on its wheels.
"And guess what? The two of you saw that male blonde hunter at the back, right?" Coco inquired, immediately going to ranting as if what happened earlier was a normal occurrence to her.
"That guy looked at Heiren!" Coco hissed and glared at no one in particular. "Can you imagine where he got the audacity?"
Heiren and Kairo nodded their heads absentmindedly, their eyes snapping upwards to look at Coco’s faces, but they found their gazes shifting down to her chest once more.
They fought so hard to keep their eyes on her face, but it was proven difficult when the carriage shook again.
"Don’t get me started with Miss Akane." Coco grumbled and rubbed her palms on her face. "I get that she wanted to help, but I don’t really like it when people force what they want on me and expect me to be thankful."
"Yes, right.." Heiren mumbled, nodding his head.
"I mean, I didn’t want to be rude so I tried to be respectful about it, but she insisted." Coco continued and frowned deeply. "Isn’t that why I’m working? So I don’t have to ask a stranger nor an acquaintance for help?"
"So.. You only want to ask help from your friends, your husbands, and the people you’re close with?" Kairo asked, trying so hard to pay attention to Coco’s words.
His eyes kept drifting down, but thanks to the heat on a certain part on his collarbone, he snaps out of it every now and then.
"Yes!" Coco perked up and snapped her finger, grinning towards the black haired mediator. "I have never tried to ask for help from strangers because it will start rumors— and rumors are the last thing I want to happen right now."
Kairo hummed, fighting the urge to look down again. "So? Why do you think that way to those strong hunters?"
At his question, Coco’s nose scrunched up in disdain once more.
"Because Miss Yuuko tried to confront Heiren when I’m right there." Coco answered with a matter of fact tone, like it was the most common knowledge in the world.
"That’s disrespectful, you know?" Coco added with a sigh. "I get that I used my husbands as a scapegoat, but I don’t want to stay at the guild any longer.. I believe that we already dealt with a lot of things today."
"Hmm.." Heiren hummed absentmindedly, his eyes half lidded as he glanced up at Coco’s face. "It’s a nice feeling to be used as an excuse so you can get away from them."
Coco turned to him, her hands falling to her lap. "Really? But I’ll try not to use that as an excuse.. Just for today."
Goodness.. Her position right now is so.. Heiren’s thoughts trailed off when his eyes landed on her neck down to her chest, his heart fluttering inside his ribcage.
Heiren bit his lower lip, the memory of their make out session earlier flashing before his eyes.
The sounds that escaped Coco’s lips, the feeling of her warmth against his skin, and the way she kept pushing herself against him.. Well, he recalled all of it, but it’s not like he wanted to.
"Heiren?" Coco asked, calling his name out as she stared at him. "Are you okay?"
Hearing her utter his name snapped him out of his thoughts, his attention quickly turned to her and cleared his throat to gather his composure.
"You’re caught red-handed." Kairo commented, his cheeks dusted with pink.
Heiren raised an eyebrow, but his face immediately became warm and travelled down to his neck which made Kairo look away from him.
"Are you two okay?" Coco asked, her eyebrows furrowing as she glanced at Kairo and Heiren, unsure of what to do. "Why are you two red? Are you two sick or something?"
