CHAPTER 521: BLACK EGG AND QUEST

Coco’s gaze narrowed into a glare the moment she spotted the sight of the large egg resting comfortably on her bed.

Her expression soured, annoyance flickered across her face.

"What in the world?" She muttered under her breath, her voice tinged with exasperation. "So you weren’t really kidding when you said that there’s a new egg on my bed?"

Coco approached the bed, her eyes fixed on the oversized egg and couldn’t help, but whistle. "Goodness, look at that beauty."

Coco leaned down and examined the egg, then Lala’s voice piped up behind her, her words punctuated by a gleeful giggle. "Based on the patterns on the egg, it looks like they finally sent a familiar egg with a useful skill this time!"

Coco sighed softly, her irritation momentarily sidelined by Lala’s statement.

She cast a glance over her shoulder at the flying garden fairy, whose expression was bright as the sun due to the large excited smile on her face.

"Useful skills, huh?" Coco echoed, her tone with skepticism and curiosity.

Coco perched herself on the edge of the bed, her gaze still fixated on the egg before her, her eyes wandering across the egg’s black shell and taking in the intricate white wavy patterns that adorned it.

The sight was both mesmerizing and intriguing, the mysterious essence of the egg’s appearance captivating her attention.

However, as Coco stared at the egg with wonder, she also remembered something crucial.

"To hatch Konoha’s beautiful white egg, I had to throw it into that slime monster I encountered before." Coco pondered aloud, her eyebrows creasing together in wonder. "But what kind of situation or quest do I have to go through this time to hatch this one?"

Lala slowly lowered herself by the egg’s side, her eyes fixed on the eggshell. "Well, maybe you need to.. Do something in the forest again?"

Coco’s lips formed a straight line at that thought and shook her head. "I don’t like that idea, Lala. Is there anything else I can do to hatch the little guy out of their egg?"

Ding!

As if to answer her questions, a brown scroll appeared before her eyes and unrolled itself.

[ To hatch the familiar egg, the master must pour a lot of mana into the egg and ensure that it has its fill by the end of the day! ]

Coco furrowed her brow in a frown, her irritation evident. "What? Do I have to keep pumping mana into the egg until it hatches?"

Lala blinked, her gaze flickering between Coco and the egg.

"Is that what was said to that scroll? Then it’s likely that’s the case!" The garden fairy replied, her tone filled with both optimism and understanding. "You have a lot of mana so that’s not a problem, right?"

Coco sighed heavily, her shoulders slumping slightly. "Great, just great."

"What’s wrong?" Lala quickly ran to Coco’s side and asked, a frown tugging on the fairy’s lips. "You keep sighing since you got back.. Are you okay? Did something happen while you’re out with Kairo and Heiren?"

Coco could only sigh again. "Well, yeah.. Did you know that Kairo has a mark—"

Unfortunately, before Coco could finish her words, the sound of the door opening reached her ears and made her spring up in her bed.

"Puny human, that human with weird mana wants to see you." Richard grumbled out.

"Thanks for letting me know, but keep standing outside the door and guard it." Coco stated and plopped herself back to the bed, waving a dismissive hand in the air. "I’m busy so turn everyone away."

The stone monster stared at Coco for a moment before he uttered incoherent words under his breath and slammed the door shut.

Lala kept her gaze locked onto the door for a little longer before she turned back to Coco. "Don’t you think it’s better to check on Kairo first and make sure he’s okay?"

Coco’s heartstring got tugged at that, but she forced the feeling away.

She didn’t like how Kairo acted towards Lala so when he fell unconscious by the front door, she took him back to his room and left him there, letting Heiren take care of him instead.

It hasn’t been an hour since he collapsed, but she was already itching to run to him and check on him.

I can’t right now.. I need to focus on this damn egg first and this quest. Coco thought to herself, sitting up on her bed and staring blankly on the egg.

[ Main Quest {12}: The hatch of a strong familiar

The black egg was a special type of egg that was distributed to strong individuals! So, depending on the mana it gets, the familiar that will come out of the egg will depend on the master alone.

"Goodness.. Did I really have to get a quest about hatching this thing?" Coco mumbled, her question pointing directly to whoever gave her the quest.

Ding!

[ No, but these gloves have been sitting on my house for far too long! I have to get rid of it somehow! ]

"Oh.. So I became a dumpster now?" Coco retorted with sass and raised an eyebrow. "I wasn’t informed that I have been labeled as the fairies’ trash can now."

[ No, no, no! This fairy didn’t mean it that way, silly human! I was only trying to help you. ]

Coco paused and stared at the scroll, her lips parting in surprise as she grabbed the brown parchment quite roughly.

"Hold on.. You’re not either of the two fairies who were supposedly in charge of me, aren’t you?" Coco asked, her narrowed into a glare as she tightened her grip on the scroll.

Lala’s head snapped at that, her eyes wide. "What do you mean by that, Coco?"

The only response Coco got from whoever was behind the quest was the disappearance of the scroll and another quest scroll.

"You have to be kidding me." Coco grumbled.
