New World with Four Husbands
Chapter 525: Breaking news
CHAPTER 525: BREAKING NEWS
Coco walked through the hall of the first floor, her happiness evident in her stride with Kairo and Richard railing closely behind her.
"Why are you so happy with us just fetching this human?" Richard grumbled, clearly unhappy with Coco’s excitement. "You’re so confusing.. I don’t know how you were able to defeat me when you’re like this."
However, Coco and Lala ignored him, but Kairo frowned.
Just what is this stone thing trying to say?
The three of them walked through the kitchen doorway and her gaze fell upon the husbands, causing a soft smile gracing her lips.
"I brought him with me!" She declared, her voice filled with affection.
In tow, Kairo followed Coco, his steps a little slower and more cautious, a sheepish expression on his face as he took in the familiar surroundings.
He felt both embarrassed and a little self-conscious when he was with Coco because of the fairy on top of her head so he couldn’t help, but felt a sense of comfort in the presence of the husbands.
At her return, Heiren’s face lit up in a bright smile as Coco and Kairo entered his field of vision.
Without wasting a moment, he pushed Alhai aside with a hearty laugh and ran to Coco with his smile growing bigger. "Welcome back!"
"Let’s eat now, shall we?" Heiren asked, his voice laced with genuine excitement as he clapped his hands together, gesturing towards the table. "I don’t want my wife to be hungry, after all!"
The three mediators behind him shot him a disapproving look and couldn’t help, but feel annoyed at his escape from their confrontation, solely due to Coco’s arrival.
The air between them was filled with tension as the husbands exchanged frustrated glances, their annoyance evident in their gazes.
Heiren, however, played dumb to their annoyance, his attention entirely focused on Coco and Kairo.
With a smile on his face, he leaned casually against Coco and rested his hands on Coco’s hips, unfazed by the lingering animosity in the room.
"That sounds delightful." Coco beamed with enthusiasm and squeezed Heiren’s hands on her hips, silently telling him that she appreciates him for being attentive.
Then, she settled into her usual seat, her mood noticeably lifting.
The others followed suit, seating themselves around the table and almost immediately, the atmosphere shifted from tense to lively, the tension from earlier momentarily melting away.
Coco’s energy filled the room, her presence alone enough to lighten the mood.
For now, the mediators’ grievances were set aside, their focus shifted to the meals placed on the table as the dinner began with a hushed silence— the only sound being the soft clinking of utensils against their respective dishes.
Everyone busied themselves with their food, their eyes fixed on their plates.
The silence in the room was awkward, each person was lost in their own thoughts, hesitant to break the uneasy quiet.
However, it was Coco’s voice that finally shattered the awkward silence, her bright tone slicing through the thick tension.
"By the way.. Kairo can hear Lala." Coco stated, quickly piquing the three husbands’ attention.
In an instant, their heads snapped towards Kairo, their faces etched with surprise as they processed Coco’s words, their eyes fixated on Kairo.
Among the husbands, it was Alhai who broke the silence first, his voice filled with disbelief. "He.. He can hear the fairy?"
Kairo’s expression turned into a frown. "Hearing her, I’d rather not.. But the truth is, despite my wishes, it appears that I can do just that.. Unfortunately, that is."
The husbands sat motionless, their surprise turning into a bewilderment.
The revelation that Kairo, who had shown no prior indication of such ability in the first couple of weeks staying with them, could now hear Lala’s voice? It clearly was unexpected and puzzling.
Lala stomped her foot on the table, her small frame radiating anger.
With a scowl on her face, she pointed a finger at Kairo. "That’s really rude of you! I’m sure people would love to hear how I talk and what I say because I’m a charming and adorable fairy!"
Ring. Ring. Ring.
The husbands could only hear the faint jingling of a bell as Lala spoke, but Kairo alone could hear Lala’s words with clarity.
"Charming and adorable? Hardly!" he scoffed, his tone filled with skepticism as he shot a glare at the fairy. "You look rather hideous! And a fairy? Seems impossible with how you look!"
Lala’s face scrunched up in annoyance, her wings twitching slightly at Kairo’s blunt statement.
The husbands were perplexed and oblivious to the actual conversation so they could only switch glances between Kairo and Lala in hopes of understanding what she was saying.
Fortunately, due to Kairo’s response, everything made it clear for Zaque and others.
"He can understand her words, but it appears he’s unable to see her physical appearance." Zaque said and swiftly cut through the rising argument before it could escalate, his voice calm yet authoritative.
Lala huffed in annoyance, her small arms crossed over her chest while Kairo simply let a grimace cross his face in response.
Coco gently munched on her food and decided to interject between the two. "Alright then, you two. Please be kind to each other, okay? You guys are staying under the same roof so fights are best avoided."
Lala let out a huff, her irritation momentarily subsiding and Kairo, on the other hand, gave Coco a reluctant nod, acknowledging her words with a frown because he knows that she’s right.
Coco smiled, her radiant smile illuminating the room almost immediately and effortlessly shifting the atmosphere, causing the mediators’ heart to skip a beat.
"Alright, let’s enjoy our meal in peace!" She declared, her voice filled with warmth and contentment.
The husbands exchanged glances once more, their concerns momentarily forgotten as they simultaneously got captivated by Coco’s beautiful smile.
Still, even if they were blinded by Coco’s radiance, Zaque and the other two mediators found themselves sending Heiren pointed looks.
Heiren merely ignored them.
