CHAPTER 534: HUMANIZED FLYING PIG
The woman’s eyes widened in surprise as she fully took in Coco’s disheveled and bloodied appearance.
The sight of the young woman’s exhausted and wounded state left her taken aback, but her gaze soon moved past Coco, her eyes darting towards the direction from where Coco came from.
The woman’s expression shifted, her surprise giving way to horror and shock.
Then, the woman stretched out her arms and shouted towards Coco. "Come here, miss! I’ll lead you to safety! You can trust me, please! Come here!"
The woman’s voice sounded urgent, offering hope in the face of the unknown danger Coco was fleeing, but Coco simply met the woman’s gaze.
The offer was desperately tempting, yet hesitation flickered briefly across her face.
The hair on the back of Coco’s neck raised as goosebumps went down her arms, telling her to not accept the offer no matter what.
Besides, who in their right mind would run to a stranger who said that they’ll get them to safety?
A frown appeared on Coco’s face as she made an expected choice and despite the woman’s outstretched arms, Coco chose to turn away, unsurprisingly, and sprinted to the right, leaving the woman behind.
The gasps from behind went unnoticed as Coco’s focus remained fixed on the path ahead of her, her mind and body intensely preoccupied with evading the creature.
Actually, Coco figured out why she was running away from the creature.
That creature resembled a human version of a flying pig— its appearance looked quite horrifying, but the adrenaline and panic that she got from looking at it kept pushing her forward.
With nothing else in mind, Coco ran and ran and ran.
Her concentration was so single-mindedly focused on fleeing from the relentless pursuer that the gasps from the woman she had rejected were lost in the background, drowned out by the pounding of her own rapid footsteps.
"Miss, wait— Leo!"
The woman’s shrill scream snapped Coco out of her thoughts.
"STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING THIS INSTANT!"
Coco’s head jerked at the sudden, authoritative shout that cut through the air and instinctively, she paused her panicked run for a moment, her body tensing as she heard the stern command.
The words carried a tone of authority of a mother who was fed up with her children’s behavior, a voice that demanded attention.
It was eerily familiar to Mama Coison’s authoritative shouts which momentarily disoriented Coco, causing her to slow down and glance back hesitantly, curiosity mingling with the panic.
Coco’s eyes widened as she glanced back and spotted the humanized flying pig— whose name was now revealed as Leo— stopping in his tracks.
His body is frozen in the middle of preparing to throw something at her, but his movement has abruptly ceased which left him suspended in the air with an awkward position.
Caution filled Coco as she observed the sight because it was bizarre.
Could the woman’s shout stop him?
With the humanized flying pig in the air, Coco’s panting breaths gradually subsided as she stopped running, her gaze shifting between the approaching woman and the frozen flying creature.
The woman jogged towards her, closing the distance between her and Coco.
The woman’s face filled with evident worry, but her eyes widened when she took in the sight of Coco’s disheveled and wounded appearance.
"Oh, god.."She murmured, horror seeping into her voice as she stared at Coco’s body, her eyebrows furrowing. "Oh, no.. I thought my eyes were only playing tricks on me.."
The woman’s gaze flickered over Coco’s wounded form, her expression going pale.
She was quick to recognize the extent of the damage inflicted on Coco, a realization that only heightened her distress.
"I’m so sorry.. I’m sorry, I’m really sorry—" The woman apologized over and over, attempting to reassure Coco, but her words were abruptly cut short when Coco wobbled, her legs threatening to buckle under her weight.
Thankfully, the woman managed to catch her in time and wrap her arms around her, but she avoided the blades on Coco’s body.
"I’m so sorry.. I’m sorry! I promise you’ll be okay— I swear to God that you’ll be okay." The woman mumbled, her voice laced with concern and panic, but her words faded into the background as Coco’s strength faltered.
The world spun around her, the exhaustion and the wounds taking their toll on her.
The woman’s arms encircled Coco a little tighter, but her touch trembled as she attempted to support the wounded young woman.
Her breathing turned erratic. "Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, leo— miss, forgive me, please.. I’m so sorry."
The woman muttered apologies repeatedly, her voice filled with remorse and distress as she held onto Coco, her own panic and fear evident in her trembling frame.
Coco’s head merely moved in a faint, almost automatic nod, her mind too clouded by a wave of dizziness to fully comprehend the woman’s words.
The world around her became hazy and distant, her senses dulled by a mix of exhaustion and blood loss, causing the woman’s whispered apologies blended into background noises like a faint echo in the far corners of Coco’s consciousness.
She was aware of being supported, but the details of the situation were slowly fading away.
No, please.. Coco thought as she fought against the overwhelming dizziness, stubbornly trying to push through the haze that clouded her thoughts.
"No.. I have to get home.." Coco managed to groan out. "My husbands.. They’re waiting.."
Unfortunately, her efforts were in vain as her body, already weakened by the blood loss, struggled to maintain its strength.
She could feel her energy draining, her limbs becoming heavy and unresponsive.
"Miss?! No, miss! Please stay awake— damn it, Leo! Fuck you! Lend me a hand here and stop standing there!"
"M-master, I’m not L-Leo anymore.."
"Lea?! I don’t care! Help me! This child is dying because of what you guys did!"
The frantic screams reached Coco’s ears, but the words were a garbled mess which were the last thing she heard before darkness consumed her consciousness.
