New World with Four Husbands
Chapter 547: Why?
CHAPTER 547: WHY?
The moment Coco and others got home, the mediators didn’t have to speak with each other and immediately rushed into Coco’s room.
They placed the magical egg on the love seat and settled Coco on her bed, but Zaque remained still between her arms because she didn’t want to be left alone.
Heiren and Quizen took it upon themselves to rush down to the kitchen to get Coco something to eat.
Alhai and Kairo took it upon themselves to pick a set of comfortable clothes for Coco to wear, all the while warming up the bath for her.
Honestly, the five of them moved in sync without having to tell who needs to do what.
And Kairo? The four mediators didn’t feel like calling him out and rather, felt like the purple eyed mediator fit right into their little family, but Coco was adamant on just keeping four mediators by her side.
Right now, Alhai is taking a bath with Coco.
Zaque and Kairo were left inside her room, tending to the bed and making it as comfortable as they could to ensure Coco’s well-deserved rest.
While doing so, Zaque couldn’t help, but steal glances from the mediator who patted the fluffy pillow of his wife— looking quite puzzled as to how it stayed fluffy despite months having passed since it was first brought.
Zaque’s opinion of Kairo wasn’t good at first.
He didn’t like the mediator when he first met him because he brought up the marriage talk to someone who recently possessed his wife’s body.
However, Kairo has been a lot of help lately.
Zaque wasn’t dumb or dense, like someone, so he could tell that Kairo is still attracted to Coco, one way or another.
If things wouldn’t be awkward, he would have given Kairo an applause for holding back.
Unlike Kairo, someone had confessed their feelings to Coco after swearing, insulting, and being rude to her.
It was truly a wonder how Coco managed to keep someone like that by her side.
She’s really kind. Zaque thought, his hand working meticulously on flattening Coco’s bed because he just finished changing her covers, which was a sight because when the covers were off, a lot of white furs flew in the air.
Zaque let out a sigh through his nose, his eyes shifting towards the purple eyed mediator who moved across the room to wrap a blanket around the magical egg.
He learned about Lala and saw that egg, but he didn’t walk out of the house and spread rumors about Coco’s circumstances.. Zaque added to his train of thoughts, biting his tongue.
Instead of Kairo yelling outside that Coco was a stranger, a person with special abilities, a person with a damn king beast and fairy around her, but no, he did the complete opposite of what one would normally do.
Kairo has become a part of their little family— just like Jacques and her husband— because Coco was kind, considerate, and welcoming, but they didn’t expect that they would welcome him to become one of them, too.
The one who opened the talk about adding Kairo to Coco’s ’lovely mediators’, as Coco call them, was Heiren, and honestly, they were half-heartedly expecting that it would be Alhai to do so, but it was the second husband who did.
Zaque sighed again and rubbed his temples, torn between wanting to have a talk with Kairo about his future and wanting to leave the topic be for next time.
"I’m done here." Kairo spoke up, breaking the silence in the room.
Zaque perked up and pulled his hand away from his face as quickly as he could, his eyes shifting towards the purple eyed mediator who turned to him.
"Is there anything else I can do to help?" The mediator asked, shifting his weight to his other foot.
Should I do it now? Zaque thought, his eyebrows creasing together in worry, his eyes darting to the bathroom door where Alhai and Coco are currently occupying.
Zaque is stuck in a dilemma, but that dilemma soon came to an end when the bedroom door swung open.
"We brought some cocoa for Coco and a few biscuits that you baked this morning, Zaque—" Heiren’s voice echoed in the room, but he froze in his tracks when he sensed something off in the room.
"Is everything alright here?" The brown haired mediator asked, raising an eyebrow.
Quizen walked past Heiren and Kairo rushed to drag the small table from the corner of the room to the side of Coco’s bed.
"Thanks." Quizen murmured, the corner of his lips curled downwards.
It was obvious that Quizen was upset, but no one really knows why he’s upset— though, they kind of assumed that he was still upset by what Alhai did with Coco the other night.
"You’re welcome." Kairo mused, helping Quizen put the plates filled with biscuits down on to the table.
"Everything is fine." Zaque answered Heiren’s question, his eyes darting to Kairo and Quizen, his lips forming a straight a line. "It’s just that.. Do you think it is the right time to talk to Kairo about that?"
Heiren was about to walk over to the table, but he stopped upon hearing Zaque’s question.
"No." The mediator shook his head. "I don’t think Kairo’s ready for that.. Besides, we need to ask for Coco’s opinion about this."
Zaque hummed and sighed. "You’re right.."
"Why are you eager to add Kairo anyway?" Heiren quickly inquired, tilting his head. "You’re not like this a month ago, Zaque. What’s wrong?"
Zaque’s gaze lowered to the floor and thought about why he wanted to have Kairo with them, but frankly, he also doesn’t know why he wanted Kairo to become one of them.
He just felt like it’s the right thing to do.
But why? Zaque asked himself, his frown deepening further and as if Heiren could sense his inner turmoil, the mediator shook his head and walked away from him.
"Think about it first, my friend." Heiren called over his shoulder.
