He wouldn’t believe Maureen was dead until he saw it with his own eyes!

In the pitch–ck night, Geoffrey stood frozen–faced, silently watching the fresh grave being dug open.

His heart leaped to his throat when a bodyguard finally stepped forward holding a cremation urn.

“Mr. Sutton.”

Geoffrey stood ramrod straight, his expression unreadable in the darkness.

“Take it back.”

During the return journey, Geoffrey remained eerily calm.

Normally transparent with his emotions, today nobody could tell whether he felt joy or sorrow.

Though sleep–deprived for days, he felt no drowsiness leaning against the headrest.

Geoffrey’s narrowed eyes gazed through the car window at Maureen’s childhood city, her face flooding his mind. while her voice seemed to echo:

“Geoff, will you hold me?

I’m so cold…”

“Geoff, would you grieve if I died?”

“Geoff… I always wanted you to be happy…”

His throat tightened inexplicably.

Nobody noticed the reflection of Geoffrey’s chiseled features in the window, his eyes faintly rimmed with red.

In this world, nobody truly needs anyone else.

After Geoffrey brought Maureen’s ashes home, everyone who knew her epted she was gone.

The same conclusion emerged when they found Gareth.

After brief sighs of pity, everyone resumed their calm lives.

Only Geoffrey was different.

He did nothing but eat, sleep, and work at thepany day and night.

Even retrieving Maureen’s belongings from Gareth’s ce was left to Sean.

Sean clearly sensed a change in Geoffrey.

Since returning, Geoffrey had grown more withdrawn, as if lost in his own world.

Sean couldn’t help asking Wayne, “What’s going on with Jamestely?”

Wayne shook his head. “I’ve no idea.”

“Mr. Robson, do you think Mr. Sutton actually fell for Maureen?”

Hearing this, Sean’s phoenix–like eyes flickered with something unreadable.

“Who knows?”

He slid into the car and told the driver to go.

Leaning back, Sean rubbed his temples.

If Geoffrey cared for Maureen, why was he rushing to restructure Ramirez Enterprises?

He must know how much thatpany meant to her–built from scratch by her father Juan Ramirez, who cherished her most…

If he loved Maureen, why send people to harass her family overseas?

Sean didn’t yet know Maureen had cut ties with Noelle and her brother. To him, they were her only remaining family!

Geoffrey never mistreated his women.

When Andrea was with him, didn’t she have everything anyone else possessed?

But Sean noticed Geoffrey treated Maureen too harshly, too cruelly–as if she were an enemy.

Lost in thought, they arrived at a luxury residentialplex.

Sean stepped out of the car, ncing around. “This ce isn’t cheap.”

“Over a hundred thousand per square meter at minimum,”

the driver replied.

To Sean, these properties were pocket change.

Yet he understood ordinary people could never afford homes here.

As Sean approached the entrance, a housekeeper opened the door.

“Ms. Ramirez’s belongings are all in the master bedroom.

The master said you must leave immediately after collecting them.”

The housekeeper knew this seemingly refined man was trouble, offering no pleasantries.

Sean eyed her. “Where is your employer now?”

She snorted. “I’m not his attendant. How would I know?

He’s busy–no time for shady characters…”

Muttering, the housekeeper walked away.

Sean’s assistant moved to discipline her,

but Sean stopped him.

The assistant frowned–since when did their young master tolerate disrespect?

Sean strode straight to the master bedroom.

Maureen’s belongingsy piled inside, clearly gathered before his arrival.

Without a word, Sean packed the belongings into the suitcase.

Suddenly, his movements froze as his well–defined handnded on an exquisite vintage protective charm.

This Heirloom Pendant was the sole treasure passed down through generations of the Robson family!

Four years ago, Sean distinctly remembered giving this pendant to his rescuer after being saved…

How could this pendant be here?

Sean clenched the protective charm tightly. After a long daze, he instructed his assistant to pack and remove the re- maining belongings.

On the return trip, Sean received a call from the investigator he’d dispatched to look into the incident four years prior.

“Young master, we’ve confirmed it! Your rescuer was the Ramirez heiress, Miss Maureen!”

The investigator also forwarded photos taken by witnesses after the ident, painstakingly retrieved from hospital archives.

Sean picked up his phone. Though the years–old images were blurred, he instantly recognized the blood–soaked figure in the photo!

Maureen!

It really was her!

The hand gripping Sean’s phone turned bone–white at the knuckles.

Memories of tormenting Maureen flooded his mind one by one.

He recalled their second encounter–after she’d be Geoffrey’s fiancee.

Maureen gazed at him with exhration: “It’s you?”
