No Trespassing! My Aloof Brother
Chapter 220 - 218: I Can’t Let Go [3 More]
CHAPTER 220: CHAPTER 218: I CAN’T LET GO [3 MORE]
"Sweetheart, are you feeling better?" Just as the two were getting intimate, Christopher Scott and the others arrived.
Suddenly interrupted, Maya Spencer immediately withdrew her gaze, pretending to seriously eat the porridge.
However, Liam Spencer was not pleased, thinking, why did they have to come at this moment?
He finally had a chance to talk about feelings with Maya, to flirt a little, but they just couldn’t wait to ruin it.
So, he turned around and gave them a fierce glare, especially Asher Norton.
"Third brother, did we interrupt you two? How about you continue your lovey-dovey moment, and we’ll leave first?" Christopher Scott, seeing someone’s sharp gaze, instinctively thought it best to retreat.
Hearing the words "lovey-dovey," Maya’s heart trembled, only then realizing she had lost her senses earlier.
She recalled how she acted cute last night, and her expression suddenly became extremely embarrassing.
For a moment, she finally realized that the relationship between her and Liam was overly ambiguous. The act was too real!
Thinking of this, Maya couldn’t help but wring her small hands together, frowning, not knowing what to do.
Clearly, they agreed it was just an act; how could she forget? How could they show affection when no one else was around?
She hadn’t realized that their private affection exceeded their public displays.
In her panic, she reached out her small hand to grab the porcelain bowl from Liam and said, "Let me do it myself!"
Liam thought she was embarrassed by Christopher’s words, so he didn’t hand over the bowl but said tenderly, "You’re still on a drip, how can you?"
As soon as he finished speaking, he placed the spoon at his lips, gently blew on it, and tested the temperature with his lips. Only when assured it was at room temperature did he bring it to Maya’s lips, coaxing her to open her mouth as if to a child with a soft "Ah!"
"Tsk tsk tsk..." Beside the hospital bed, everyone watched Liam’s overly sweet demeanor, feeling a chill.
Maya felt the man’s tenderness and took a deep breath, warning herself that this was all just an act; she mustn’t take it seriously.
She and Liam despised each other, and this was merely to earn more money.
Thinking this, she comfortably accepted his kindness and continued eating the porridge.
Off to the side, Christopher and the others could no longer bear it. After asking a few questions, they took their leave.
As Asher Norton was leaving, he gave Maya a look, which she understood to mean getting rid of Liam.
Apparently, Henry Reid had come to the hospital too, just not entered the room.
After yesterday’s events, Maya also wanted to see Henry Reid to know if her late-night hospital visit was worth it.
So, she acted cute to Liam again, saying, "Liam, I want some tofu pudding from the place across the school, and the medicine makes my mouth taste bitter. Can you bring me some candied plums and candies from the snack shop next door?"
Liam looked at her delicate demeanor, pinched her chin, leaned down, and kissed her lips, saying, "Alright! I’ll go buy them for you. But when I return, I want an explanation for you drinking and apologizing for someone else—an acceptable explanation."
Maya initially thought that acting cute could let her avoid this matter, but unexpectedly, he was still fixated on it.
However, to get him to leave, she obediently nodded and said, "Okay! I know!"
Anyway, when he comes back, she would play the rogue, telling him it was just an act, and not to take it too seriously.
If that didn’t work, she would honestly reveal her pretentious thoughts.
In the hospital’s underground parking lot, Henry Reid waited for Liam to drive off before stepping out of his car.
He didn’t want to be so cowardly, but one word from Asher Norton made him relent, saying that if he didn’t want to harm Maya, he should avoid Liam.
Currently, the two were proceeding with engagement plans. After Maya ended up in the hospital last night for him, Liam certainly was fuming. To avoid dragging Maya into it, he followed Asher’s advice.
Only after ensuring Liam wouldn’t return did Henry quickly head to the elevator and ascend to Maya’s hospital room.
In the hospital room, Maya sat upright on the bed, waiting for him to arrive.
Seeing Henry wrapped in bandages, she calmly said, "Sit."
When Maya gestured Henry to sit, she was looking at the sofa, but Henry leisurely settled at the edge of her bed.
She glanced at him and didn’t ask him to leave, instead looking at him seriously, seemingly waiting for an answer.
Reflecting overnight, Henry thought about many things and realized he had been too persistent, too single-minded all these years.
Even though he understood this, he still had feelings for Maya.
Then, he raised his right hand, ruffled her hair, and asked, "Feeling better?"
Maya sensed the sincerity in his voice and gaze.
Clearly, the casual, nonchalant demeanor was gone.
So, she took a deep breath and calmly said, "I’m fine."
"Maya, I didn’t expect you would save me." Bringing up last night’s events, Henry felt a bit awkward.
The Henry of three years ago seemed to have returned.
Maya looked at his awkwardness, stared into his eyes, and asked, "Is a decadent life meaningful?"
"Heh!" Henry laughed helplessly at her question.
After laughing, he confessed, "Without you, nothing is meaningful."
"Henry, if I hadn’t been so harsh to you back then, would you not be like this?"
"I don’t understand, what wasn’t good enough about me that you couldn’t give me a chance?"
"Henry, we’ve known each other for quite a while. If I could have feelings for you, why wouldn’t I accept you? Matters of the heart can’t be forced. Even if they can for a moment, they can’t be for a lifetime, you understand?"
"I understand, but I can’t let go." Henry understood the logic but couldn’t put it into practice.
"Actually, during my time with the Spencer Family, I was grateful to you. Before Ella Turner and Ethan Turner appeared, you were the only one good to me. But your feelings are too heavy for me, so I had to be harsh and stop you from wasting time on me. I didn’t expect things to turn out like this." This was Maya’s first heart-to-heart with Henry.
Strictly speaking, it was the first time Maya discussed feelings with a man.
"What if I hadn’t confessed to you?" What frustrated Henry more was that Ethan Turner could be part of her life, but why couldn’t he, even as just a friend.
Hearing his words, Maya said helplessly, "The way you came into my life wasn’t right. You were associated with the Spencers when you appeared, and you were also someone Elia liked, so I couldn’t treat you like an ordinary person."
Maya didn’t tell him that, in her heart, Henry had always been a friend. If that weren’t the case, she wouldn’t have helped him last night or want him to overcome this.
Meanwhile, in Liam’s car, listening to the conversation through the phone connector, his expression was very serious.
