CHAPTER 368: CHAPTER 366 I AM NOT HAPPY [1ST UPDATE]
But the truth was something she couldn’t vocalize; she was even more afraid of implicating Lillian Morris, so she had to swallow her grievances, pitifully looking at Liam Spencer.
Liam looked at the girl, who appeared so wronged, and calmly sat on the bed, turned off the light, and said coldly, "Sleep."
Instantly, the bedroom was pitch black, fingers couldn’t be seen outstretched, and Maya Spencer felt even more aggrieved, tears pattering onto the back of her hand, but she didn’t dare let her sobs be heard, she just sat there silently weeping.
In her heart, she hoped Liam would turn on the light, give her a hug, some comfort, but he didn’t.
After a moment, Maya’s emotions became uncontrollable, she started to sob softly, not wanting to make a sound, but Liam’s icy attitude just made her feel wronged and unable to sleep.
On the big bed, Liam heard the girl’s cries, he turned his back to her, suddenly wanting to laugh, thinking to himself, Maya was just like a little crybaby now, why did she love to cry so easily.
This version of Maya left Liam at a loss, he wanted to teach her a lesson, let her cry all night.
But her sobbing sounds wouldn’t let him calm down.
So, he suddenly sat up from the bed, slapped the switch beside the bed with a "snap," stared into Maya’s eyes, and asked, pretending to be angry, "What on earth do you want?"
Liam suddenly sat up from the bed and turned on the light, startling Maya who quickly shuffled backward, her tears growing larger.
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say her tears were as large as soybeans, Liam had never seen such big tears before.
Even though Maya was crying sadly, for some reason, he just wanted to laugh.
Maya saw the man’s anger, tightly bit her lower lip, and wiped the tears off her face.
"What do you want?" Liam looked at the girl’s sadness, his voice softened considerably, no longer eager to argue with her.
Listening to the man’s question, Maya sniffed a couple of times, pouting her small mouth, and said aggrievedly, "I don’t regret coming back."
Maya’s explanation made Liam feel refreshed, all his anger dissipated.
He took a deep breath, moved his body forward to be closer to her, lifted his right hand, wiped the tears from her face, and asked, "Why are you crying? I didn’t scold you."
In Liam’s own mind, he felt his attitude today was extremely good, at the very least he hadn’t gotten angry or questioned her.
Seeing the man become gentle, Maya finally felt balanced emotionally, at least he hadn’t ignored her, at least her tears had some effect.
She stared at Liam for a moment, then shyly said, "Even though you didn’t scold me, you didn’t speak to me all afternoon, which is more terrifying than scolding me, I don’t know what you’re thinking."
Liam listened to the girl’s explanation, lifted her chin, and asked seriously, "Do you care about what I’m thinking?"
"Yes!" Maya blinked her eyes, nodded, and a soybean-sized tear fell onto Liam’s hand with a "slap."
"I’m not happy, very unhappy." Liam said seriously.
"I was wrong, I’m sorry!" Maya carefully apologized.
"Can an apology turn back time? Can it make me feel better?" Liam pressed on, actually wanting to hear more comforting words.
"No." Maya lowered her head, not daring to look at Liam.
"Sleep!" Liam said, lying back onto the bed, turning his back to Maya again to sleep.
This time, Maya became unhappy again, and once more started sobbing, while Liam, with his back to her, raised the corners of his mouth and smiled.
Soon after, he heard Maya complain, "You don’t even want to look at me, yesterday you had me lie on top of you to sleep."
Maya’s frankness nearly made Liam burst into laughter, he suddenly realized that Maya cared about being ignored by him.
However, he continued to pretend to be aloof, grudgingly sitting up in bed, looked at Maya, and said earnestly, "I’m unhappy."
"I’m unhappy too." Maya said, quite reasonably, as if her unhappiness should be Liam’s responsibility.
Hearing her displeasure, Liam couldn’t hide his smile anymore, he immediately embraced her and fell back on the bed, saying calmly, "It’s late, sleep."
Maya, seeing Liam finally willing to hold her, finally smile at her, felt a huge sense of relief, nestled in his arms, lifted her head, and stared straight into his eyes, not shy at all.
"What do you want to do?" The girl’s fiery gaze made Liam feel a flush of heat.
"I just want to look at you."
Hearing her words, Liam patted her back, signaling her to sleep quickly.
At this time, Maya cautiously asked, "Liam, can I discuss something with you?" Her attitude was very humble.
"Hmm!" Liam’s tone suddenly turned cold again, because he already guessed what Maya wanted to say next.
"Can we live well and not worry about the Morris Family?" Maya held her breath as she spoke.
She had originally planned to bring it up in a few days, but she couldn’t wait, otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to eat or sleep.
Sure enough, Maya’s request was within Liam’s expectations, yet he did not acknowledge her.
Maya saw Liam not responding, thinking he was angry, immediately raised her head, under the light of the bedside lamp, stared unwaveringly at him, and said, "I’m not defending the Morris Family, I just don’t want to implicate them because of myself, don’t want to wrong them, don’t want to owe them. Let me stay by your side without distractions, okay? Things like this will never happen a second time, okay?"
"Okay!" Liam listened to her explanation and agreed without thinking.
Moreover, this time he had never planned to go against the Morris Family, never intended to make it difficult for them, understanding days ago that if he wanted Maya to have no concerns about Lillian Morris, he should ignore the Morris Family, no longer make things difficult for them.
He feared that Maya would try to make amends by hurting herself for the Morris Family. Therefore, from now on, he would not trouble Lillian Morris anymore.
He wanted Lillian to live well, so Maya wouldn’t worry about her, and wouldn’t feel guilty. So during the Mid-Autumn Festival, when Maya secretly met with Lillian, he didn’t get angry or make things difficult for Lillian.
In Liam’s embrace, Maya heard his decisive "okay" and was stunned, happiness came too quickly, she thought she had misheard.
At this point, the tears she had barely held back suddenly fell again, this time she was crying tears of joy.
She stared intently at Liam, then suddenly giggled.
Afterwards, she stretched out her small hands, tightly hugged Liam’s neck, pressed her little face against his neck, and continuously apologized, "Liam, I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I promise I won’t make mistakes again."
Listening to the girl’s frantic apologies, Liam was amused, unable to laugh or cry, and this version of Maya made him unable to let her go.
Then, he patted her back, nodded, and said, "Hmm! I believe you!"
Liam’s "I believe you!" touched Maya’s tears again, with her little hands tightly wrapped around his neck, wishing to merge with him.
