CHAPTER 193: CHAPTER 193: CHEERING HIM UP (PART 5)
Sophie Smith watched warily as Asher Land kept approaching her. She was barefoot on the bathroom floor, which was a bit slippery, and she nearly fell, but he reacted quickly and reached out to steady her.
He actually didn’t mean any harm; he just saw her holding a towel with one hand and a hairdryer with the other, seeming a bit flustered, and wanted to help her.
He wrapped his arms around her slightly, adjusted her towel, and then, under her surprised gaze, closed the bathroom door.
What a scare! Sophie secretly breathed a sigh of relief in her heart.
She dried her hair and changed clothes, only to find that Asher Land was not in the bedroom. She went downstairs and saw Asher Land and Irene Morton sitting at the dining table, waiting for her.
"I have a shooting notice from the company this afternoon, so I’m leaving first." Actually, she was a bit afraid of being alone with Asher Land, though she didn’t know why.
"Have lunch before you go."
Sophie couldn’t meet his eyes and replied softly, then sat down by the dining table.
The table was laden with sumptuous dishes, but Asher Land had no appetite and hadn’t touched his chopsticks, so naturally, Sophie and Irene were also eating a bit awkwardly.
"Brother Asher, try this, it’s really good." Irene offered a bowl of tonic soup to Asher Land.
Asher Land frowned; he really didn’t feel like eating anything right now.
"Come on, just try it. It’s soothing and detoxifying, good for the lungs and coughs, and, well, it’s good for the kidneys too!"
Good for the kidneys?
He hesitated a bit but picked up the bowl and took a small sip.
Hmm, okay, I’ll try a bit just because it’s good for the kidneys.
Sophie ate a few bites of rice casually, then put down her chopsticks.
"I’m leaving now."
Before Asher Land could respond, she disappeared from his view.
Damn, she ignored him once again!
...
Sophie felt a sense of relief once she left the Land Family mansion.
She hurried to the company, where Julia Brown told her that Sister Sunny had found a big client for her, who was interested in having her endorse products under his company.
For Sophie Smith, getting an advertisement opportunity was great, let alone with a large client, a big corporation!
"Sophie, you’re here, hurry to the meeting room, the client is waiting!" Julia urged her toward the meeting room as soon as Sophie stepped into the company.
"Wait!" Sophie took a deep breath and adjusted her makeup. "Let me collect myself for a moment. Look at me, rushing in like this; the client will think poorly of me."
"They would never think poorly of you, Sophie; you’re naturally beautiful, and the client will be thrilled to see you!" Julia said sweetly.
She smiled and shook her head, then walked gracefully to the meeting room and pushed the door open.
Inside the meeting room, there were only two people: Sister Sunny and a ’stranger’ man.
"Sister Sunny..." Sophie just started to speak when the man, who had his back to her, suddenly turned around.
"Huh? It’s you?" Sophie stared at the man in surprise, unable to regain her composure for a long while. Could she really meet him again?
"Sophie, do you know Mr. Johnson?" Sunny couldn’t help but ask when she saw Sophie’s strange reaction.
The man standing in front of her was the same one she and Irene Morton had met at the Northern Suburb Resort, the one who had helped when Irene accidentally fell into the lake.
The man had a faint smile on his lips, and seeing her, he didn’t seem to feel any awkwardness.
"I suppose you don’t know my name yet. I’m Oliver Johnson. Nice to meet you, Miss Smith." With that, he extended his long, handsome hand toward her.
