CHAPTER 211: CHAPTER 211: BRINGING MISS SMITH HOME (PART 3)
As everyone passed by the lounge, they couldn’t resist glancing inside.
Asher Land sat on the sofa with his legs crossed, holding a coffee in one hand and flipping through a magazine resting on his lap with the other.
He naturally exuded an elegant and noble aura, making people involuntarily take a few extra looks.
"Tsk tsk, such a man is truly favored by the heavens, having everything he desires. Alas, when can I become like him?" sighed a bespectacled man, seemingly lamenting the unfairness of fate.
"In your next life," someone mercilessly chided, "or maybe if you crawl back into your mother’s womb and try again, do you think that’s feasible?"
"..."
As time passed by minute by minute, he glanced at his watch and found he had been waiting here for three and a half hours.
He patiently continued to sit on the sofa, while Sunny outside the lounge seemed a bit restless.
"Quickly go check the studio, tell the lighting technician, photographer, and assistant to clock out. Sophie Smith, that girl, really making President Land wait for so long?"
Sunny said to the staff beside her.
The staff acknowledged and quickly ran to the studio, nobody dared to leave while Asher Land remained here.
Under Sunny’s interference, Sophie had no choice but to ’get off work’.
"Go to the lounge quickly to find President Land, he’s still waiting for you there," Sunny advised.
She pushed open the lounge door, and upon hearing the sound, he raised his eyes; their gazes collided.
"Off work?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Mm." She replied lightly.
"Then let’s go." He picked up the suit jacket he had taken off on the sofa, took a big stride, and led the way.
Sophie didn’t think too much and followed him out.
The weather was already a bit cold, Sophie tightened her coat but her body still trembled slightly. Asher stopped and pulled her into his embrace, escorting her out of the company building under everyone’s gaze.
Once in the car, Asher cranked up the heater to make her warmer.
"You don’t have to wait for me, why waste your time on me?" she said calmly.
"Sophie, don’t talk to me like that!" He was somewhat irritable, she could be sweet and docile in front of others, but before him, she was always prickly, resisting his closeness.
"I don’t mean to upset you," Sophie softened her tone, "I have my work to attend to, I simply want to finish it before clocking out, it’s a bit embarrassing having you wait so long."
He usually had a busy and energy-draining schedule; he could go home and rest after work, so why insist on waiting for her?
"No need to be embarrassed, I’m happy to."
He stepped on the gas, and the car swiftly disappeared into the night.
...
"Young master, why are you back so late today?" Nanny Garcia stood at the door, took Asher Land’s jacket and hung it on the coat rack.
"There were some delays at the company."
Nanny Garcia had been with Asher Land for many years; she could gauge his mood. She took a glance at Sophie Smith, who entered the living room a few steps behind Asher, having a bit of an understanding.
Asher Land’s company was in the opposite direction of Sophie’s, so if they returned together, he had clearly picked her up after work.
"Young master, Miss Smith, you haven’t eaten yet, have you? The chef has prepared dishes, why not have something to eat?"
"Nanny Garcia, I’m not eating." Sophie put down her things, intending to head upstairs.
"Miss Smith, maintaining a figure is important, but you mustn’t starve yourself."
Nanny Garcia thought Sophie was worried about gaining weight from eating at night and quickly tried to persuade her.
"Moreover, if you don’t save some energy, how will you handle the young master tonight?" she whispered in Sophie’s ear.
