CHAPTER 313: CHAPTER 309: THE SECOND CHILD (PART 1)
Oliver Johnson carried Sophie Smith back to the room, and she suddenly felt a little nauseous. She pushed him away and hurriedly ran to the bathroom.
"Ugh..." She wished she could dig out her stomach, why did she feel so awful?
"Miss Smith, are you okay?" Oliver Johnson stood at the door, anxiously knocking a few times.
"I’m fine, ugh..." She couldn’t finish her sentence before she started vomiting again.
This feeling...
Was all too familiar.
She remembered, after she first got pregnant with Asher Land’s child, she often had this feeling...
Could she be pregnant again?
She was startled by her own thought.
"Impossible, absolutely impossible.."
She almost used all her strength just to keep herself from collapsing, supporting her body by holding onto the sink, raising her eyes to look at herself in the mirror.
"Could you please open the door first?" When she made no sound inside, he felt uneasy. Just as he was about to break the door open, she suddenly opened it.
"Should we go to the hospital for a check-up? Go now?"
"No need, I’ll just rest on the bed for a while." Her voice was a bit weak, she climbed onto the bed, just about to lie down but was pulled up by Oliver Johnson.
He initially wanted to be more forceful, but upon seeing her eyes, he slowly released his grip.
Her gaze revealed rejection. Indeed, what was he to her, what right did he have to take care of her?
"You should rest, if you feel any discomfort, make sure to call me."
"Okay, thank you, Mr. Johnson."
To be honest, he really hated her formality and unfamiliarity.
Sophie Smith lay on the bed, and after seeing him walk away, she finally stood up.
She tried hard to recall the recent encounters she had with Asher Land, then she remembered an instance where they were both very passionate and didn’t take any precautions...
She shook her head, signaling herself to wake up. No matter what, it was necessary to get checked; wild guessing wouldn’t do any good.
After about two hours, Eva Miller called to tell her that Christopher Smith had been promptly rescued and was out of danger. She and two nurses were watching over him, telling her to rest at ease.
Sophie Smith didn’t think much about it, changed her clothes, and went out with a baseball cap and mask.
She sat nervously in the hospital lobby waiting for the results of her test inside.
"Number 35."
The office called her number, she steadied herself and walked in.
"You are pregnant, take care of your body," the doctor got straight to the point, not even giving her a buffer.
She sat there for a long time without speaking.
The doctor wasn’t looking at her initially, seeing that she hadn’t spoken for so long, he raised his head suspiciously.
Sophie Smith wore a baseball cap and mask, covering her face entirely, so the doctor couldn’t tell what emotions she was experiencing.
"Can I not have this child?" It seemed to take a lot of effort for her to get this sentence out.
"Not have it?" The doctor looked carefully at her medical records, "You’ve had an abortion before, why don’t you want this second one?"
She lowered her head, like a child who had done something wrong, at a loss.
"I advise you to keep this child, an abortion is harmful to a woman’s body. Your uterine lining is thin, undergoing another surgery could mean you might not conceive again, not to mention the severe aftereffects. So, you should discuss it with your husband again."
