North America Gunman Detective
Chapter 1098 - 613: Emergency Rescue (Part 2)
Driving down this road, after a while, Jimmy Yang noticed a pickup parked by the roadside. The truck was empty, and there was no cargo in the bed. Jimmy got out to inspect the surroundings and discovered a series of messy footprints in the nearby woods.
Jimmy returned to his car, organized his things, locked the car, and headed straight into the woods.
The forests around New York are relatively safe; there aren't any large wild animals here. Black bears and coyotes are rare sightings, and with Jimmy's current firepower, he was sure he'd be fine.
Since Father Rodney and the others had come from the town and the vehicle didn't make it far, they couldn't have gone too far.
It's challenging to track them in the forest. Only someone like Jimmy can move quickly, but once in the forest, footprints are incredibly difficult to find, making it even harder to pinpoint locations.
How nice it would be to have an infrared-equipped helicopter assisting, accurately detecting heat sources in the woods.
After changing directions a few times, Jimmy finally heard faint sounds up ahead. He hurried forward and saw a man in black priest garments resting against a tree. Jimmy shouted, "Father Rodney, is that you?" as he approached. The priest turned to look at him.
Priest: "Who are you?"
Jimmy: "Jimmy Yang, Senior Agent from the Manhattan office of the FBI. I'm looking for Father Rodney. How are you?"
Priest: "I've hurt my leg. They're up ahead. Don't go; it's very dangerous here."
Jimmy: "What happened?"
Priest: "These are matters you can't get involved with. Please stay back so as not to interfere with them."
Jimmy: "No, I know Father Rodney well; he knows me. I need to help. Are you okay? Do you need me to take you outside first?"
Priest: "No, they'll come back for me."
Jimmy: "Alright, stay safe."
Jimmy didn't insist on taking him out. He wasn't familiar with this priest, and he was more concerned about Rodney, who was fighting inside.
Jimmy got up and ran in the direction the priest indicated. After just a dozen meters, he noticed three figures with his Heart Eye Vision. Two of them held cold weapons and were besieging one man.
Jimmy rushed over. Luckily, the woods weren't too dense, and he could quickly see the three people.
Father Rodney and another priest were battling a strong middle-aged man. Both priests held short swords in their right hands. The middle-aged man was peculiar—he wielded no weapon but wore something glove-like, effortlessly deflecting the priests' short swords. In just a few seconds, Jimmy saw him block their attacks twice.
This... He had once seen a Demon Hunter in Washington, D.C. who explained that Demon Extermination Weapons were mostly cold weapons. Why were these Demon Extermination priests from the church using cold weapons too?
The atmosphere felt off.
Trees were everywhere, and as the three continued to move, Jimmy drew his Glock but hesitated to fire for fear of injuring the wrong person. Rodney and the other priest moved fluidly, so it appeared the middle-aged man was quite strong.
Jimmy approached, shouting, "Father Rodney, I'm here to help you."
Jimmy's voice startled Father Rodney, affecting his movements. The middle-aged man noticed Rodney's delay, immediately deflecting the other priest's short sword and launching a two-fisted attack at Rodney's face.
Jimmy didn't wait any longer. A fist that could block a short sword was no joke. He raised his Glock and fired twice at the middle-aged man but lost sight of him—obscured by trees. The two bullets missed their mark; one was blocked by the man's raised fist near his face, and the other went astray.
The forest environment was truly unfriendly to firearms, and this man's fists were exceptionally tough. Bullets, unlike the slower short swords, could still be blocked. What kind of person was this?
Now closer, Jimmy noticed the color of the man's fists was off. Crucially, he wasn't wearing gloves. From a distance, Jimmy had thought he wore anti-cut gloves.
Jimmy holstered his Glock, drawing two 1875s. Taking advantage of the man's distraction with the bullets, Father Rodney quickly backed away, creating distance. "Be careful, keep away."
He shouted, immediately rushing back into the fray. The middle-aged man was once again sandwiched between the two, and this time it wasn't so easy. Jimmy slowly inched closer, knowing he wouldn't engage in a direct fight. Why not simply take shots from a distance?
Calculating angles, Jimmy raised his right-hand 1875 and fired two shots at the middle-aged man, aiming for the head out of habit.
The middle-aged man had been keeping an eye on Jimmy. Seeing him swap the Glock for two revolvers, he knew there was something special about these guns. He stayed alert to Jimmy's actions, and upon seeing him fire, raised his fists to protect his head, then changed course, charging straight at Jimmy.
With no trees obstructing the middle, Jimmy was only a few meters away when the middle-aged man withstood the two revolver shots and charged straight in. He quickly got in front of Jimmy.
Someone charging directly at Jimmy was an opportunity he wouldn't miss. He aimed the right revolver at the head and the left at the torso, standing his ground and emptying the cylinders. To his surprise, after the bullets hit the body, while they penetrated, they didn't pass through. The head, shielded by the man's fists, remained untouched, although the back of his hands was ravaged by Magnum bullets.
