North America Gunman Detective
Chapter 829 - 495: Investigation Report
The OPR investigator Jimmy genuinely wasn't familiar with, the one he knew best was Agent Fuller, who had always initiated the investigations against him before, but this time it wasn't Fuller who came to him.
Jimmy and Ruiz had already discussed the details of the report, so he simply answered a few questions based on his submitted report, and the OPR agents left. It was clear they didn't want to open a breakthrough with Jimmy.
Also, OPR had already messed up several times with Jimmy's case. Even if they hadn't been responsible for investigating Jimmy's cases before, they knew he was a tough nut to crack, and with so many people to investigate, he wasn't indispensable.
At the end of the inquiry, Jimmy even asked the OPR agents where Agent Fuller had gone, and the result was something that truly surprised him: Fuller had been dismissed and was no longer an FBI agent.
The OPR agents didn't explain why. Jimmy pondered for a moment and went to find Ruiz. Jimmy didn't communicate much with other people in the department usually, and the ones he was familiar with were those he had collaborated with before. Besides Ruiz, he might only have Peter to turn to.
Ruiz initially thought Jimmy was there to discuss the OPR investigation, but he was there to ask about Agent Fuller, which made his attitude a bit strange.
Ruiz: "Regarding Fuller, I think you might need to talk to Peter."
Jimmy blinked: "Do they have any connection?"
Ruiz: "I'm not clear on the details, but Fuller didn't resign under normal circumstances; he was expelled for a crime."
Jimmy frowned: "He just initiated an investigation against me recently, and now he's out so quickly? I'll go back and ask Peter. I'm really not used to inquiries without Fuller."
Ruiz was speechless, no one missed those OPR people, the further they could go, the better.
Jimmy checked the time, "I need to go to the hospital to see Ryan, I'm heading out."
Ruiz nodded, and Jimmy turned to leave. Visiting a colleague who was shot during work hours was something only Jimmy could get away with now. According to Hughes' direction, he had been behaving well lately and wasn't involved in any cases. Now that the first round of OPR inquiries was over, he could relax a little, just in time to visit Ryan.
Ryan had been recovering for a week, and he looked much better, but his abdominal gunshot wound had also injured his intestines, so he was now on a liquid diet, just like Jimmy was before.
When Jimmy arrived, Ryan happened to be drinking it. Jimmy felt a bit nauseous just looking at the liquid food, and only pulled up a chair to chat after Ryan finished eating.
Derek's memorial was to be held a little later. His family originally wanted to take his body back to their hometown, but after discussions within the bureau, a decision was made to hold the memorial in New York, and then transport the body back for burial. However, due to the ongoing investigation of the case, it was delayed for a few days.
Hughes was also quite frustrated, as Derek, Jimmy, and Ruiz had already communicated several times with the director and deputy director of the Manhattan office, and finally settled it, with the memorial set for this weekend.
Of course, such a result also meant that the OPR investigation had to be completed within the week; regardless of the outcome, the personnel involved in Derek's memorial needed to have a result.
After chatting with Ryan for a while, Jimmy drove back to the office. This visit was mainly to check on Ryan's condition and to inquire about Derek's funeral. He didn't have many acquaintances in the field office, so it wasn't easy to ask certain questions there. Asking Ryan directly was the easiest.
Jimmy called Peter, inviting him to a bar after work, and Peter didn't refuse, though he needed to go home first to have dinner before going out.
It was understandable, after all, he was a married man. It made sense, especially since Elizabeth knew him well, they probably had dinner plans together.
Jimmy had dinner alone that evening since Nia was working overtime and couldn't join. Afterward, he went to the bar to wait for Peter.
Peter didn't come alone; he brought Elizabeth with him. Jimmy went up to greet them and had Woody mix a drink for Elizabeth while he and Peter moved away from the bar to chat.
After having a drink, Jimmy asked Peter, "Peter, are you familiar with OPR?"
Peter: "Why?"
Jimmy: "I'm currently under investigation."
Peter: "Oh, I know about it, don't worry, it's nothing."
Jimmy: "Hmm? Is there some inside information?"
Peter nodded, raised his glass to clink with Jimmy's, "Don't ask, just relax and wait for the results."
Jimmy took a sip of his drink: "I've been waiting for a week now, OPR just came by today for an inquiry, I really feel uncertain."
Peter: "Rest assured, Hughes has it all sorted."
Jimmy nodded: "Alright, I'll trust you. By the way, there's another thing. The previous Agent Fuller who investigated me several times, do you know him? I heard he got sacked?"
Peter nodded: "He crossed the line. Neil's girlfriend was kidnapped by him, and her death was arranged by Fuller. But he's currently missing, whereabouts unknown. We're also looking for him, but so far, there's no news. Why did you suddenly become interested in him?"
Jimmy: "In the years I've been in Manhattan, he was involved in every investigation, and when I suddenly found out he wasn't in the investigation team this time, I just wanted to ask about it, and then got this result."
Peter: "He's dangerous. If you get any information about him, notify us immediately."
Jimmy: "He's just an internal affairs agent. Is it really necessary to be this nervous?"
