North America Gunman Detective
Chapter 855 - 507: Mahong's Secret (Part 2)
Jimmy: "Where's your employer?"
Dylan: "I don't know, it was all Adam, he's more familiar with the gangs."
Jimmy: "So you've been working with Adam all along?"
Dylan: "Yes, it's been almost a year now."
Jimmy: "How's your income?"
Dylan: "What do you want to do? Hire us?"
Jimmy: "Answer me."
Dylan: "Unstable, but we earn at least a few thousand dollars each month."
Jimmy: "Doesn't seem that high, your jobs are a bit small, and there's not that many. Interested in a change of scenery?"
Dylan: "Who exactly are you?"
Jimmy: "FBI."
Dylan stepped back two steps, ready to run, then stopped because Jimmy already had his revolver pointed at him.
The reason he wanted to run was because he was scared by the word 'FBI'. Not everything he and Adam did was legal; the way they investigated certain information was illegal, and he had previously served nine months in prison, caught by the FBI.
Internet information theft is a federal crime, the "Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA)" just falls under the FBI's jurisdiction.
Dylan stood two meters away from Jimmy, too afraid to move because of the gun aimed at him. He asked softly, "What do you want to do? Oh, no, what do you want me to do?"
Jimmy: "Smart, if you really run, I think you might regret it. I want you to work for me."
Dylan was silent, considered for a moment, and then walked over to stand in front of Jimmy. "What kind of work?"
Jimmy: "When I need information, you'll help me investigate data and information, hack into surveillance, remote monitoring and such—those are your areas of expertise."
Dylan: "Just that? Am I the only one?"
Jimmy: "For now, you're the only one."
Dylan: "Sorry, I need to think about it."
Jimmy: "Alright, call me within 24 hours."
Dylan nodded: "I understand." He turned to leave and after taking a few steps, turned back, "In case I refuse..."
Jimmy: "Jail or Hell, you'll have to choose one."
Dylan swallowed, licked his lips, although mentally prepared, Jimmy's straightforward mention of these two similarly sounding words made him tense up again.
He nodded, turned and went to where he had previously placed his bag, picked it up and walked out of the woods. Before leaving, he turned to look back but couldn't see Jimmy anymore.
Jimmy watched him turn and leave, then left the woods himself from the side. Although they went in different directions, Jimmy kept watching until Dylan left his Heart Eye range, then headed for the parking lot and drove back to the hotel.
The next day, Jimmy called Mahong, "Mahong, are you still in the hospital?"
Mahong: "Yes, I'm doing the discharge paperwork, what's up?"
Jimmy: "Wait for me, I'm on my way."
When Jimmy arrived at the hospital entrance, Mahong was already dressed in a suit, holding a bag, standing by the roadside. Jimmy called him as he parked, and Mahong got in, "What's going on?"
Jimmy, driving onto the road, said: "You've been in Chicago long enough, you should know where to get fake license plates, right? I'm not familiar around here."
Mahong: "Turn around ahead, go to the South District."
Mahong directed Jimmy to a used car dealership, which didn't seem big, with only a few cars for sale in the backyard, but there were a few motorcycles with for-sale signs as well.
Mahong told Jimmy to wait outside while he went in for a few minutes, coming out with a set of plates he handed to Jimmy, "Drop me off at the office."
Jimmy: "Wait, have them give me a motorcycle too, and a license plate."
Mahong nodded, went in with Jimmy, "Mechanic, get me a motorcycle too, and a license plate. He'll pick it up this afternoon. Check it carefully."
A bald white guy in the office nodded without speaking. Mahong brought Jimmy in just to show him his face, to avoid problems when picking up the vehicle. Now that the mechanic had nodded, they could leave.
Jimmy drove Mahong to the Chicago office, and downstairs, Mahong asked Jimmy: "Do you want to come up and take a look? Just to get familiar with the case."
Jimmy: "Is it necessary?"
Mahong: "Bill King and the others are not targeting me, but rather a few escapees."
Jimmy nodded: "OK, then I'll come up too, haven't seen Philicia in a long time."
In the command center of the Chicago office, when Mahong pushed open the glass door, Philicia was the first to see him, "Welcome back, how are you feeling?"
Mahong: "Much better, any new updates?"
Philicia: "We've locked down all the roads in the central Montana area, Lincoln and Mike are still not found."
Mahong looked at the map on the wall, which had many lines drawn on it, with photos of the escaped suspects posted: "Expand the range, along routes 90 and 94, up to the Wyoming border, and notify to also close the end of Route 15 at the Canadian border."
Philicia nodded, turned back to notify, while Jimmy, who had been like a transparent presence behind Mahong, took this opportunity to greet Philicia.
Mahong introduced Jimmy to the agents nearby, "Agent Jimmy Yang, from the Manhattan office." Then he continued to review the investigation materials other agents had gathered during this time.
Someone in a nearby office whistled, and everyone gathered in front of the TV, where footage was playing, "My name is Lincoln Burrows, and I'm innocent. I broke out of Fox River State Penitentiary because..."
