A gasp echoed directly above him. "Lina... your mouth... fuck..."
"Shut up and feel it, Elara," the Guide’s voice, Lina, was muffled, thick with desire. "Just feel my fucking mouth on you."
Yu Xi listened, his mind a cold, analytical machine, even as the scene unfolded with brutal acoustic clarity. He heard wet, rhythmic sucking, the desperate panting of the Esper, Elara. The headboard began a steady, gentle thump against the wall.
"Yes, right there, oh god, don’t stop," Elara begged, her voice cracking. "Your tongue... I can feel it everywhere."
"You taste so fucking good," Lina moaned against her flesh, the words vibrating through the mattress. "I’m going to make you come all over my face."
A sharp, crisp smack cut through the room. Elara cried out, not in pain, but in sheer ecstasy. "Again."
Another spank landed, harder this time. The bed shuddered. "You love that, don’t you?" Lina taunted, her breath coming in ragged pulls. "You love being my dirty little secret."
"Yes!" The reply was a broken scream.
The pace intensified. The thumping of the headboard became a frantic, jarring rhythm. Elara’s moans climbed higher, losing all coherence, becoming a continuous, pleading keen. Lina’s encouragements were filthy, explicit, a raw narration of every action.
"I’m going to fuck you with my fingers until you scream," Lina growled. "I want to feel you clamp down on me. I want to feel you fucking lose it."
A new, slicker sound joined the symphony—a fast, relentless pumping. Elara’s screams reached a fever pitch, a wordless, guttural sound of absolute abandon that seemed to shake the very foundations of the room. It was followed by a shuddering, gasping cry from Lina, a raw shout of release that echoed Elara’s.
For a long moment, there was only the sound of harsh, ragged breathing and the faint creak of the settling mattress.
The bed shifted again. Yu Xi saw a pair of bare, sleek feet land on the carpet, followed by another.
"Get up," Lina said, her voice hoarse but practical. "My brother will be back soon."
There was a soft murmur of assent, the rustle of clothes being gathered and pulled back on. The energy in the room dissipated, the powerful auras receding like a tide.
Yu Xi remained motionless, his body coiled tight, his mind already filing away the information. The whimpering pleas, the explicit sounds and the scent of sex, it was all discarded as irrelevant data. He felt nothing but a cold, focused drive.
He just needed them to leave so he could get back and report what he had discovered about their interest in Jian Rui. The suite door opened and closed with a soft, final click and there waw silence.
He waited a full five minutes in the dark before he finally began to slide out
A few minutes later, Yu Xi stepped into the room, his movements quiet but purposeful. Amelia didn’t look up from her console. "Give it to me."
He handed her the encrypted drive without hesitation.
Then, casually, he said, "The imperial lord’s new concubine came in with her lover. They had... intimate relations while I was hiding underneath the bed."
Amelia, who had just begun decrypting the files, turned her head sharply. Her brow arched. "You just witnessed them go at it?"
Yu Xi nodded. "Yeah."
Her gaze flicked downward, lingering for a moment. ’Impotent,’ she thought, amused. Yu Xi followed her eyes, confused, glancing down at himself. "What are you looking at?"
She didn’t answer his question and continued working. "I also found out the general’s target is actually Jian Rui," Yu Xi added, his tone shifting.
Amelia’s eyes widened. That changed everything.
Yu Xi swiped his communicator and typed quickly: You are the target.
Jian Rui, having just finished the main course, glanced at his device. His expression didn’t change, but something in his posture did. He turned to Carmine with a polite smile. "Excuse me."
He walked to the edge of the lounge, where the city lights glittered like scattered jewels. He picked up the call.
"What do you mean?" he asked, voice low.
Yu Xi recounted everything—what he had overheard, what he had seen and what he had pieced together. Jian Rui listened in silence.
Then he smiled. It wasn’t a warm smile. It was sharp, sinister and terrifying.
"Good," he said. "Let them try."
Carmine pursed his lips and gave a subtle signal to the waiter, a flick of his fingers, barely noticeable. The man responded immediately, gliding forward with practiced ease.
He wasn’t the original waiter. He was one of General Larson’s subordinates, face altered through psi-masking to resemble the staff member he had replaced. The deception was seamless.
He presented a bottle of chilled white wine, unopened, its label pristine. Jian Rui, having just finished his call, returned to the table with a smile that remained charming, though something colder lingered beneath it.
"I am sorry about that," he said smoothly.
Carmine offered a soft smile. "It’s okay. So, so... do you have someone you like?" His voice was light, with a sweet and innocent smile on his face.
As the waiter opened the bottle and poured the wine, Jian Rui chuckled. "No. I have been focused on raising my brothers."
"You are such a good older brother," Carmine replied, keeping his expression calm, though his nerves buzzed beneath the surface.
Jian Rui raised his glass, but before it touched his lips, he paused. "I am sure you know my history."
Carmine hesitated. "I have heard... some things."
Jian Rui’s gaze sharpened. "Then you must have heard about my mother."
Carmine met his eyes and felt his scalp go numb. Jian Rui’s expression was composed, almost gentle, but Carmine felt as though he were staring into the eyes of a viper, coiled and ready to strike.
"I hate people who use despicable means," Jian Rui said, his voice calm but edged with steel.
The words struck Carmine like a slap. His entire body tensed, and for a moment, it was impossible to hide the fear that flickered across his face. Jian Rui’s gaze lingered on him, unreadable, before he lifted the wine glass and drank the entire contents in one smooth motion.
Carmine watched, heart thudding. He picked up his own glass and took a few sips, trying to steady his nerves. The antidote he had taken earlier would shield him from the drug’s effects, so he drank a little more, feigning ease.
He hadn’t wanted this.
But his father had insisted, saying it was for the future of Elaris, for the strength of their family. Carmine had felt wronged, forced into a political match with someone he hadn’t chosen.
Yet when he met Jian Rui in person, saw the way he carried himself, the quiet authority, the sharp intelligence behind his eyes... he realized he wouldn’t be at a loss being with someone like him.
A few drinks in, Jian Rui’s posture shifted. His eyes softened, his focus wavered. The drug was working.
Carmine’s fingers curled around the stem of his glass. Now came the part he dreaded most.
